Thanks for the respect, my grandpa is a gemoloist and a blacksmith so I know a fair bit about the biz but I went into EMS (that's ambulance shit for those who dont know, I'm a first responder) so it's really nice to hear a random shout-out

sometimes i kind of wish instead of only stills, we get a video of the "Closer Look" and see how it shines in the lighting from different perspectives. and also, i think a 360 of the stones/gems would be awesome.

I noticed how the first Hematite specimen had brownish-yellow zones. These zones must be traces of either Limonite which is a Hydrated Iron Oxide or Siderite which is an Iron Carbonate.

It's worth mentioning that the red "blood spots" on the bloodstone (heliotrope) are often caused by hematite inclusions. 🩸

Try doing Rutaliated Quartz! It's a really fun stone to look at, and maybe as Tourmalated Quartz with it?

It can be magnetised right coz it contains Ferrum. Which is a good conductor of electricity !!

I don't see a lot of hematite jewelry around, including on JTV. Do you know why that is? Thank you.

Is the 2nd hematite a host to the encrusted quartz ? Just checking as I was unaware quartz grew on iron minerals .

What a very informative video, after finding a very heavy black specimen that has magnetic properties I'm begining to think it has magnetite in the hematite. Thanks

I think I have a hematite stone, but it doesn't have red streaks. Is it actually hematite?

I thought one of the specimens I had was hematite but it’s not I tested it with a magnet and it was magnetic so not hematite or at least not pure hematite 🙁

  • @kmart1396

Really? Its a 5? I thought it would be less than that with how many hematite rings I've busted from them taking a minor fall onto the floor or straight up just me clapping too hard. Then again its Mohs scale rating is prolly based on it before its made into such jewelry.
