Before Marvel Rivals, I heard some of the folks that used to play Overwatch 2 eventually moved to Paladins which is the gane I played. Marvel Rivals is the game I'm playing for awhile. Squirrel Girl is becoming my main. The game is fun.
I was noticing that I was looking for something else starting around May 2024. I had already played Paladins for a couple of years, there are a few issues I have with it (mostly I hate the store you pay gold as the items can totally negate other characters and you cannot swap even if you are nullified). Ideally, they should have your custom loadouts be bought with the gold.
Yeppers, although Overwatch was still fun, I would have loved it if they gave it a third person option. I like to see the skins I pay for you know. Paladins did it just fine, you could switch back and forth, why Blizzard could not pull it off is beyond me.

Let’s say Call of Duty is dying! They had 20 years of dominance so that’s a crazy good success! Activision can’t be mad at that but they have to get back to basics for sure to win players back! They have to tap into creativity and listen to the community!

When Ananta releases later this year and it turns out to be as good as it seems - and it looks fucking awesome - my faith in gaming may actually be restored. Either way, it's obvious that Marvel Rivals is dwarfing Overwatch 2, just as the latter did to Paladins previously. It's a new game appealing to a modern audience obsessed with the MCU, with its only real competition being a butchered, recycled game filled with 'woke' content that is currently controversial and becoming increasingly detested.
I think another one of the big reasons why BO6 lost players was because people were playing through xbox game pass, so they either bought one month or had one month trial. Btw I also appreciate how you said Marvel Rival this time.
It may be a win for Marvel and Disney, but hopefully Disney is paying attention and realizing that a game without the woke nonsense is a game that succeeds. Maybe, just maybe, they'll be insightful enough to grasp that concept.
I wouldn't call it a "win", Rivals is doing the opposite to what Marvel have done with both their movies and comics for the last 5 years with great success... Yeah, it will give them money but it also shows that their current direction is not working at all. I don't think Marvel and Disney are ready to listen though... Not yet in any case. They must have realized that nostalgia sells while their current direction don't but they are stubborn and refuse to admit when they are wrong so I expect a few more years of crap from them before they get desperate enough to change direction. I did not mention the D+ shows, but that was on purpose, I don't think the streaming thing work out for them, they already have Hulu that actually have earned them money while D+ is still billions in the red. Sure, it doesn't help that almost everything made for the channel are awful either. I don't think there is any saving for D+, just put the Disney classics on Hulu instead.
The ones in charge of Overwatch aka the team managers are the reason Overwatch has been failing hard since Overwatch 2 released. Alec Dawson, Walter Kong and Aaron Keller should've been fired a long time ago. They've proven time and time again that they are completely clueless and incompetent at everything they do, except for when it comes to lying. When it comes to lying and deceiving, they're experts.. The matchmaking in Overwatch 2 is the worst i've seen in my life and i've been a pro player in Call of Duty and older games and have played competitive FPS games since the late 90s. Overwatch 2's matchmaking is a manipulative matchmaker (EOMM). When i started playing Marvel Rivals, i was shocked at how good the competitive matchmaker is and how good the rank progress system is. It's designed the way it should be designed. That along with the dev's transparency and apparent dedication to this IP and the amount of stuff you get from simply just playing, it's pretty clear why people bailed on Overwatch 2. People are fed up with Dawson and Keller in particular and the way they mismanage the Overwatch franchise and keep gaslighting the community.
kinda sad seeing overwatch state now, i used to like that game a lot, spend my waking hour playing that game whenever possible, followed every news, watched every overwatch league match, and just straight up having fun playing it, now, now its worse that doing a chore, i'd rather eat dirt than spend another minute playing overwatch.
Every time I see bad Blizzard news I'm reaffirmed my decision to drop their games when they canceled Starcraft Ghost. Related to Marvel they dropped a new Daredevil trailer earlier and it actually looks good. Reminded me of Penguin. I am cautiously optimistic since I loved the Netflix Marvel shows (until they all ran out of money and license). I'm firmly in wait and see mode.

I think we have a problem here Vara…unpopular opinion but stay with me: if everyone into team games that are competitive or not abandons their game for Rivals, then there’s no competition therefore Rivals will be THE game for games like this. Now that is bad. Imagine if KFC had the best chicken on the planet and no one ate anywhere else but there, a lot of businesses would close down and the lines and demand would be too long for KFC. At some point players will ask for new content for Rivals every week, then everyday, then every hour. It’s good that the game is being successful, but I think people want this game to be the next Fortnite which…it’s good to have options and competition, not over glaze a game to the point you don’t want options at all. I feel like the devs for Rivals will feel the pressure and pump out content at high demand speeds, but it won’t have the quality. Gamers see one thing and don’t understand the other if that makes sense. If Rivals becomes more popular than Fortnite then it’s truly over. Do people want that? I’m curious how the game performs for the rest of the year. If anything, this game is making other games re-think their live service models.

The big studios are the reason gaming sucks today. Most of the games at least on console are garbage and popular titles have just become cash grabs for companies and continue to exploit players. Hopefully rivals changes things and we can see better games in the future that delivers to gamers and not just try to actively exploit players wallets
I did it, once Marvel Rivals arrived I had no interest to play OW2, once playing a game starts to feel like a chore, and your not even excited for a new Character, which to me was "shug" I knew I checked out.

It’s nice to see something challege cod without being a copy but personally i’ve tried all 3 games and I prefer Smite over marvel rivals (i did find my main it was dagger i love the dps and healing side if you switch to light) but it just wasn’t my thing. Arma Reforger is introducing a lot of fps fans to the MilSim. Play Station has brought a big surge of players on board with the game’s recent release on the platform. Cross play between PS5, Xbox, and PC means a lot of people can now play together too.
There still needs to be better competition and better selections. Cod still makes its money back and it’s time for indie competitors to make their own cod already.

I was a diehard OW player for years. Then they released the nonbinary character that talks about her pronouns and I was done. I am not going to play woke video games anymore. I am over it. I play MR because it is fun, the characters look cool, and there are no wait times.
I played a ton of OW. Bailed at 5 v 5 and ow2. Helldivers and Fortnite kept me busy. Stumbled upon rivals by accident and it’s awesome. Everything OW2 should have been.
I will always love Overwatch. It has been a big part of my gaming life for so many years and I will always have respect for it…. but I won’t lie I have not touched it ONCE since Marvel Rivals released. It’s sad to see Overwatch continue to fall and I hope one day they will pick things up and be great again.

years of no competition have allowed Blizzard to grow apathetic of their player base, now that there is a competition in the form of a damn good game, they're panicking, you know what was their response to the massive waves Rivals made? a 38$ skin pack.
They also ban cheaters pretty quickly compared to other games. I’ve had hackers get banned the moment the match ended.

Either way, it's obvious that Marvel Rivals is dwarfing Overwatch 2, just as the latter did to Paladins previously. It's a new game appealing to a modern audience obsessed with the MCU, with its only real competition being a butchered, recycled game filled with 'woke' content that is currently controversial and becoming increasingly detested.

I bought every CoD. Played 1000 hours per game. But after MW3, I gave up. Now, I spend my money and time on Marvel Rivals.

I think another one of the big reasons why BO6 lost players was because people were playing through xbox game pass, so they either bought one month or had one month trial.

It may be a win for Marvel and Disney, but hopefully Disney is paying attention and realizing that a game without the woke nonsense is a game that succeeds. Maybe, just maybe, they'll be insightful enough to grasp that concept.

I wouldn't call it a "win", Rivals is doing the opposite to what Marvel have done with both their movies and comics for the last 5 years with great success... Yeah, it will give them money but it also shows that their current direction is not working at all.
I don't think Marvel and Disney are ready to listen though... Not yet in any case. They must have realized that nostalgia sells while their current direction don't but they are stubborn and refuse to admit when they are wrong so I expect a few more years of crap from them before they get desperate enough to change direction.
I did not mention the D+ shows, but that was on purpose, I don't think the streaming thing work out for them, they already have Hulu that actually have earned them money while D+ is still billions in the red. Sure, it doesn't help that almost everything made for the channel are awful either. I don't think there is any saving for D+, just put the Disney classics on Hulu instead.
The ones in charge of Overwatch aka the team managers are the reason Overwatch has been failing hard since Overwatch 2 released. Alec Dawson, Walter Kong and Aaron Keller should've been fired a long time ago. They've proven time and time again that they are completely clueless and incompetent at everything they do, except for when it comes to lying. When it comes to lying and deceiving, they're experts.. The matchmaking in Overwatch 2 is the worst i've seen in my life and i've been a pro player in Call of Duty and older games and have played competitive FPS games since the late 90s. Overwatch 2's matchmaking is a manipulative matchmaker (EOMM).
When i started playing Marvel Rivals, i was shocked at how good the competitive matchmaker is and how good the rank progress system is. It's designed the way it should be designed. That along with the dev's transparency and apparent dedication to this IP and the amount of stuff you get from simply just playing, it's pretty clear why people bailed on Overwatch 2. People are fed up with Dawson and Keller in particular and the way they mismanage the Overwatch franchise and keep gaslighting the community.
kinda sad seeing overwatch state now, i used to like that game a lot, spend my waking hour playing that game whenever possible, followed every news, watched every overwatch league match, and just straight up having fun playing it, now, now its worse that doing a chore, i'd rather eat dirt than spend another minute playing overwatch.
Every time I see bad Blizzard news I'm reaffirmed my decision to drop their games when they canceled Starcraft Ghost.
Related to Marvel they dropped a new Daredevil trailer earlier and it actually looks good. Reminded me of Penguin.

39K players when it tracks 4 games in 1 is ATROCIOUS for a game franchise like COD that is the number 1 best seller year after year, Not to mention that it is confirmed that PC has the most players now so those are some REALLY bad numbers.

@@claudijatzandrapova3347 In 2023 Bobby cockhead has confirmed that 25% total players are on PC followed by 16% PlayStation. It's probably more or less now but PC is the go to platform now for a lot of people.
I think we have a problem here Vara…unpopular opinion but stay with me: if everyone into team games that are competitive or not abandons their game for Rivals, then there’s no competition therefore Rivals will be THE game for games like this. Now that is bad. Imagine if KFC had the best chicken on the planet and no one ate anywhere else but there, a lot of businesses would close down and the lines and demand would be too long for KFC. At some point players will ask for new content for Rivals every week, then everyday, then every hour. It’s good that the game is being successful, but I think people want this game to be the next Fortnite which…it’s good to have options and competition, not over glaze a game to the point you don’t want options at all. I feel like the devs for Rivals will feel the pressure and pump out content at high demand speeds, but it won’t have the quality. Gamers see one thing and don’t understand the other if that makes sense. If Rivals becomes more popular than Fortnite then it’s truly over. Do people want that? I’m curious how the game performs for the rest of the year. If anything, this game is making other games re-think their live service models.

It's good seeing more competition, and I would like to play marvel rivals, but I just can't get past them having kernal level anti-cheat. When ever I see that my anxiety levels go through the roof.
I would honestly rather wait for other indie fps competitors than relying on Marvel Rivals to do so since that can be taken away if Disney ends/ruins the Netease deal long term.

I haven’t played COD, but i hear from my friends that they are changing zombies, and the changes were not necessary. They actually told me that they did not have time for MR, but now thanks to the COD updates. They have since stopped playing and have installed MR. Developers did this to themselves

Overwatch I'm not suprised by, given the zombies that kept playing it after Blizzard's broken promises of a story mode _finally_ have an alternative to play, but COD? The big studios are the reason gaming sucks today. Most of the games at least on console are garbage and popular titles have just become cash grabs for companies and continue to exploit players. I did it, once Marvel Rivals arrived I had no interest to play OW2, once playing a game starts to feel like a chore, and your not even excited for a new Character, which to me was "shug" I knew I checked out.

It’s nice to see something challege cod without being a copy but personally i’ve tried all 3 games and I prefer Smite over marvel rivals (i did find my main it was dagger i love the dps and healing side if you switch to light) but it just wasn’t my thing. I do like how rivals is like have the characters for free but skins and that aren’t

factor in most of the cod players are on xbox game pass and stuff like that so they are not actually buying the game. its easy for them to hop if they cancel subscription.
uhh you do know Marvel's Rivals is free across the board, right? Plus CoD on Gamepass: no meaningful change in subs and 82% of all sales were on PS meaning nobody packed up their PS consoles or PCs for it

Arma Reforger is introducing a lot of fps fans to the MilSim. Play Station has brought a big surge of players on board with the game’s recent release on the platform. Cross play between PS5, Xbox, and PC means a lot of people can now play together too.
There still needs to be better competition and better selections. Cod still makes its money back and it’s time for indie competitors to make their own cod already.

I was a diehard OW player for years. Then they released the nonbinary character that talks about her pronouns and I was done. I am not going to play woke video games anymore. I am over it. I play MR because it is fun, the characters look cool, and there are no wait times.

I played a ton of OW. Bailed at 5 v 5 and ow2. Helldivers and Fortnite kept me busy. Stumbled upon rivals by accident and it’s awesome. Everything OW2 should have been.

I will always love Overwatch. It has been a big part of my gaming life for so many years and I will always have respect for it…. but I won’t lie I have not touched it ONCE since Marvel Rivals released. It’s sad to see Overwatch continue to fall and I hope one day they will pick things up and be great again.
