My favorite thing about Da Vinci is that he did this for fun. He didn't build any of these. He didn't go out looking for patent royalties. He just had ideas, and wrote them down.
I wonder how it would have been like right now if Leonardo Da Vinci were to have been born this time period... We would have probably been around 100 years advance... such a badass he was.
+Liam Kurz Good point. I can see where you're coming from. If he had not been born during the Renaissance then he would not have had the extensive Renaissance training that molded him into the da Vinci we all know.
We can speculate, but in reality, we simply can't know what he would be like if born in this time period. I am guessing, it comes down to his personality. He seemed to be a very curious individual, with great capacity and intelligence, with love for inventing things for progress of the mankind, so his inventions might have also been suppressed, as with Nikola Tesla...
Yeah, it would be awesome to see what kind of inventions he would theorize with electricity available. Or if Nikola Tesla had the opportunity to fully immerse himself with his work. So much potential!

Lina Sterling, As the person who proposed the theory that Leonardo's war machines each came with a built-in fault, I am unable to tell you whether the machine gun would actually work. Most of these machines were merely a concept sketched on paper, to keep a rather aggressive patron satisfied that he was actually producing stuff. What Leonardo really did at the time was study optics, hydraulics and surveying. Leonardo's NON-military inventions have capabilities that his military inventions did not appear to have. It is said that he made a model lion to delight the King of France. It walked several paces, roared and then its chest opened to produce a bunch of lilies.

with regard to number two´s ´flaw´, he did this with most of his inventions, to prevent his ideas from being stolen. Also, da vinci´s not really a pacifist, considering his collaboration with both Ludofico Sforza (duke of Milan, to whom he presented himself as an engeneer of war) and Cecare Borgia, who was considered by many to be a gruesome tirant, even threatening da Vinci´s home town of Florence.
You ever think he was just smart enough and to abide by to not get killed or make new connections to help further his own personal interests. Like you said they could of attacked Milan.
Leonardo often put false information in his drawings to device people that would have stolen his notebooks /ideas and several people have tested his diving suit and it works to a degree and it also had false information on how the whole thing worked
Imagine if Da Vinci was alive today to see a helicopter in action, or a car, or an 18 wheeler, a cell phone, radio, dryer, refrigerator, a watch, a computer, a 747, a cruise ship, a washer, our fashion sense in the year 2020, paint by the can, that big ass bridge in California, a stove, a microwave oven, the statue of Liberty.............things that would make his head twirl. A TV !!!! a remote & on & on & on. Yes life was simple back then...........If only Leo could see the accomplishments of the centuries gone by.
Organ gun was not the basis for the machine gun in any way shape or form. It was two completely unrelated approaches to the same problem. You may as well argue that hot air balloons were the basis for ballistic missiles.
+priscillaboswell8 Hey Priscilla! Thanks for mentioning those inventions as well! There's no doubt that each and every one of da Vinci's inventions has had a profound impact on our modern civilization. Thanks for watching! :)
was it da vinci who made the flying device that propelled like a helicopter? i dont know if he made it, but what was that device called? It had a corkscrew shaped propeller... thats the main thing about it I remember...
It is odd he did not think of simple inventions like hang gliders, hot air balloons, bicycles, and steam turbines, but then, no one else did either. Steam engines could have been invented and manufactured a millennium or more earlier when Hero of Alexandria built his simple rotating steam sphere.
He *did* think of the bicycle, though. There's a sketch made by one of his assistants, which was discovered in his sketchbooks in the late 19th century.
just play assassins creed brotherhood and also give a try to side missions named Leonardo War Machines you can get something out of it with some experience long live Assassins Creed Ezio Trilogy.. These games will make you to revisit italian renaissance and these are pure artform don't miss it
His rough sketch of the parachute is way too small. But I wonder why he did not make it; would have been simple to make and test. Maybe no one, himself included, had enough confidence it would work? But no harm if you say, try it from a low cliff over a lake.
Look. There is no actual evidence that any of those dodgy brown ink drawings were made by Leonardo. He was just a renaissance artist and all the other stuff about his incredible forward looking inventions was made up in the 1970s.
My favorite thing about Da Vinci is that he did this for fun. He didn't build any of these. He didn't go out looking for patent royalties. He just had ideas, and wrote them down.
at least they were featured in assassins creed brotherhood
I wonder how it would have been like right now if Leonardo Da Vinci were to have been born this time period... We would have probably been around 100 years advance... such a badass he was.

He would probably create most advanced AI and spaceship in his laboratory that can fly in light speed 😀
I feel like he doesn't get recognized as much as he should, he was one of the greatest living minds of humanity!
YAY go nothing shush ur mouth no one asked
I find it amazing how many of his inventions actually worked

Don't forget Tesla!
bro, this guy made a lot of machines, this is so cool.
This is so interesting and wanna learn more🎉😊❤
Leonardo Da Vinci was the Nikola Tesla of the Renaissance era.
hi
Nikola Tesla x2 = Leonardo Da Vinci X1
You can’t say that if Da Vinci was born before Tesla 🤪
I can't believe that he created a fricken robot knight
Robin Filer I know! He probably scared a lot of people with it.
He’s TALENTED
Robin Filer don’t say that
Robin Filer that is not nice, who teach you all of that
I know thats so freaking awesome😳😳😳
Ubisoft taught us history in a new level! I never knew these machines where real! Epic.

If any of you have this for homework then here 🤡
0:12 self propelled cart : cart that propelled forward , ahead of its time , 2006 Italy’s institute and museum of history and science recreated his design and it worked
0:49 machine gun: built multi barreled gun cause cannons took too long , 33 barreled organ
1:31 parachute : Adrian nichols ,2002,tested his design and is better than modern on
2:14 robot knight: pulley, could do motions like sitting down etc , built the prototype in 2003
2:45 diving suit: warding off ships , around mask are 2 tubes
3:22 armored tank: could move any directions and slanted to avoid enemy fire better , had major flaw , cranks were opposite directions , assumed to be on purpose since he was a pacifist
4:05 flying machine: wing span 33 feet , supposed to be made of pine and silk , pilot would pedal a plank like a pulley system , also hand plank and head piece for steering , humans ain’t strong enough for this
So Davinci was a pacifist and intentionally created a flaw in the war machine so it wouldn't be built, yet created a multi barreled machine gun!?
The man that invented the modern machine gun invented it because he was a pacifist, and wanted to end war; so da vinci might have had a similar idea.

Lina Sterling,

The gatling gun was invented to save more lives in the American Civil War, might be the same logic

the tank actually does work divinci put one of the gears in the wrong place

how can the tank go in any direction if it cant go forward.
And don't forget he also drew the Istanbul bridge exactly as it was built in the year 2000 - 500 years later, they used his project!

It’s my firm belief that if we were to somehow resurrect Da Vinci, we’d all he driving flying cars by the end of the decade

I’m surprised he didn’t invent the bicycle, what with all those cranks.
Actually, he did: search for "Leonardo bicycle"...

Assassin's Creed brought me here.
