The point of homework is to gather skills to be applied and honed. I don't think you need homework at 6 years old but as you get older it is important to hone skills you learn or you are going to be way behind when you get older. I think maybe 8 or 9 is a good age to start homework. I mean teachers prior to middle school have 6 hours if even to teach a lot of subjects plus they are responsible for teaching kids to read, write, and do math correctly so those skills are crucial.
