Im 60 next month . In my life i grew up in south london ,neglected ,abandoned and abused . I became an adult who was beaten, nearly died having my son , in a womans refuge , sexually assaulted, raped but ive never felt or seen such pain till what has happened to Palestine in the last year and im not even there . My trials are nothing compared to the suffering of the Palestinians for not just the last year but for over 60 years ,before my life began . This is absolute diabolical and evil .

It’s hard to believe the text that Ana read out was from a 20 year old, his soul must feel like an 80 year old. I remember what I was doing when I was 20, and it wasn’t fighting for my “existence”.
These people, these humans, are enduring about as much as humans possibly can, and we are watching it, live streamed from our homes, and our work place, and on the way home on a bus, helpless.
I hope one day they can forgive us.

this comment spoke to me, ive been watching the war since it started and at the start I had so much hate for Palestinians, Hamas took a close family friend on the 7th and all I wanted was revenge. Now I watch the carnage and I know my friend would never have wanted kids to die in his name, would never have wanted an entire people to have their homes and cities wiped away as if they never existed. and I can't help but feel responsible for the dead in Gaza

My son is 18 and last month he was hospitalized over a chickungunya infection here in Pakistan. I spent 6 days in the hospital with him. The little IV cannula would keep me so agitated because he was visibly uneasy almost hating it like it was a rope that tied him to the hospital. I would watch sleep while he held his hand up because he hated that IV. When I saw shabaans photo with the IV on as a mother of an 18 year old my heart went into pieces .... He had incredible resemblance to my son Esa as well ...the same face and tiny beard coming up

What a powerful report. I have written to my MP on many occasions over the years and always received a response. Mysteriously, I haven't received any response to my letters calling for an arms embargo, ceasefire and for a cease to those in the corridors of power defending the indefensible.
The fact that Ana along with all the other amazing healthcare workers, who have witnessed firsthand the atrocities and human sufferings that continue to take place did not even receive a reply from the recipient of their letter, but instead a stock letter from someone else as Ana says, speaks volumes about their indifference to the doctors concerns.
I wrote in my letters that this genocide is the most well documented genocide in history, and that those responsible should worry about their day in court. How do these people sleep at night?

When you bring the human story, the mum, the grandfather, the baby brother all with names, hopes, fears dreams and their own story it becomes connected and real. Many people can not comprehend the reality and don't know what to say, feel etc so it's easier to avoid and remain silient. I've experienced the same silence when I've answered questions from my experience of front line work in refugee camps. Thank you for this interview Owen, this womans experience and what she has witnessed is of the most vital importance. The silience and non acknowledgement of these atrocities has to change.
