Rash Forest, also known as Sangdeh Forest, is a pristine natural area located in Mazandaran Province, northern Iran, near the village of Sangdeh. This forest is renowned for its towering beech trees, some reaching heights of up to 40 meters, creating a majestic canopy overhead. The forest is part of the ancient Hyrcanian forests, which date back approximately 40 million years to the Jurassic period. 
Visitors to Rash Forest can enjoy a variety of activities, including hiking among the tall beech trees, cycling, nature photography, and picnicking. The forest is particularly enchanting during the autumn months, when the foliage turns vibrant shades of red and yellow, carpeting the forest floor with colorful leaves. Additionally, the presence of rivers and waterfalls, such as the Oben Waterfall, adds to the forest’s allure, offering serene spots to relax and appreciate the natural beauty. 
The forest is situated approximately 100 kilometers from Sari, the capital of Mazandaran Province, and about 300 kilometers from Tehran, making it accessible for day trips or weekend excursions. The journey to the forest involves traversing scenic mountainous and forested routes, enhancing the overall experience for nature enthusiasts. 
Due to the lack of facilities within the forest, it’s advisable for visitors to prepare adequately by bringing necessary supplies, such as drinking water and food, and to consider local accommodations in nearby villages like Sangdeh if planning an overnight stay. The best time to visit Rash Forest is from late April to early December, with autumn being particularly popular due to the stunning display of fall colors. 
Rash Forest offers a tranquil escape into nature, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the serene atmosphere and rich biodiversity of one of Iran’s most beautiful forests.
