      It is quite believable i'd say. - statistically, yes, there is intelligence out there. but it might very well be out of our reach. time and space comes into play here: that information needs to travel with light speed is a problem. maybe there is right now intelligence out there, but maybe it needs a million years to reach us etc.

      The depiction of all the space scenes made me immediately think of a man's journey into himself, alone, and how he rediscovers himself and learns to let go of things that hold back (his dad, but not in the flesh, but emotionally). And how far one has to travel to get there.

      @ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn for all the controversial situations that the film points out. If we, as humanity are ready to colonize space, then NASA needs some philosophical (moral and ethical, too) standpoint to do things the right way and avoid a ton of mistakes.

    It was an analogy of a man's journey to rediscover himself and to learn to let things go. He had to do it alone (everybody around him died) and he had to to travel far (deep) to get to the crux of his mental journey. Space travel is a perfect analogy for that.

      Lord Remuru It’s a SPACE movie. So it has to be a slow burn.... Looks like for you there are only two types of movies since you have to push it into the other extreme.
      The movie lacks in everything.... Not a concept movie like 2001 / Interstellar, so an allegory is not present there...The emotional component in the movie is null... most good space movies so far did great on that ... when Grey had 2 hours to tell a story and 15,000 jobs were given away for its making. He failed IMO. So the movie doesn’t have much going for it. It does have the outstanding performances of Pitt, Lee Jones and Sutherland, but it remains a mediocre movie.
      I can give u many examples why Ad Astra is just a bad movie overall. I don’t wanna change your mind. Notice I didn’t even bring up the baboons ...

    • @statcous
      @statcous 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@spruceguitar Here's what you get wrong about Ad Astra: At it's heart, it's not a space movie. It's an introspective drama/character study. The whole space adventure is a metaphor for Roy McBride and his father isolating themselves from the society and people, trying to find something that isn't there, not realizing they cannot survive by themselves. Try looking at it from this perspective and you might change your mind about the film, or you might just realize this is not your type of film. Unfortunately false marketing made people expect something from the film that it wasn't trying to be.

    • @spruceguitar
      @spruceguitar 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ExploreTube James Gray clearly acknowledges in an interview published September 25th that it is, in fact, a space movie. And here you come along, saying that to consider it a space movie is just wrong. You remind me of some Eagles fans, who thought they knew better than the band what their songs actually meant.
      You could do yourself good in your interactions with others not to talk as if you had the ultimate truth in the bag. In this case you obviously did not....
