    Great reaction ... and yes the lyrics are so worth a deep dive, this song hits hard emotionally.

    Ayeee always nice to see gaijin guys around watching this new BM material.
    I'm gonna left you here the one behind this song so you'll get an idea why the sound is like that.
    *Monochrome*
    Lyrics : MK-METAL
    Music & Arrangement : YUPPEMETAL (aka Yuyoyuppe) he's the one behind songs like Karate, Rondo Of Nightmare, Megitsune and Kagerou, he knows his business and totally rocks.
    And like some already told you, no Kami Band members is involved during album recording, except Leda Cygnus during certain songs.
    They're using the Norse mythology and the monochrome fireworks as a metaphor for historic nuclear blast, once you know where the singer was born it all makes sense, but she's giving us hope that if a war or any other sad moment (like the recent pandemic) is happening nowadays, the colors will be back.🦊🤘🌈

  • @Wombatmetal
    @Wombatmetal 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    Yes, the monochrome firework is the atomic bomb falling. You can see that clearly in the video,. a skyline of the city, the firework falling, then the devastated city. There was a tree that survived the bomb in Hiroshima, and stood alive and alone in the devastation. I think that's the tree you see. And Su is from Hiroshima, and some of her grandparents lived through the bombing. Times are grim, but that will end, smile and we'll get through it.

    Great reaction! I enjoy the music aspects of this song the more I listen to it....much going on. From I gather from other comments on various videos, there is much reference to the Atomic bombing of Hiroshima (Su's hometown), and probably a commentary on Nuclear war overall? With that in mind, when watching you can see the visualization parallels to that event. I am sure more details will be provided by folks with more insight, but another great Babymetal song!

    This is a song that gets better the more you listen to it. To me the meaning is pretty deep and dark and they offset that with a happier singing presentation, especially the chorus. This dichotomy makes the song more approachable for me to listen to it again. Interesting to hear your opinion after a few more listenings. Peace.

  • @htusda1
    @htusda1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +27

    Great reaction and am happy that you feel more meaning will emerge as you listen on. The "monochrome fireworks" is the atomic bomb @ Hiroshima, where Su-metal was raised. As always, BABYMETAL takes us from a difficult situation to that of hope... and just smile!

    A very mature Baby-Metal. The theme is hope and renewal after disaster. The obvious reference is the bombing of Hiroshima. There is also mention of Ragnarok. The clearing of the skies over the Earth most probably refers to the pandemic.

    This one definitely didn't grab me as instantly as Divine Attack, but after a few more listens and taking a little time to really stew on it, and consider the meaning of the lyrics, it very much won me over. Its interesting because it sounds like one of their more poppy radio friendly kind of songs, but the subject matter is about as heavy and serious as it gets, so its an interesting contrast that is somehow so perfectly Babymetal.

  • @mikecronis
    @mikecronis 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Concept album is about Babymetal visiting different planets. This planet has a dying Sun which destroys the atmosphere (you can see the planet stripped of it early in the visuals) causing freezing and ultimately planet-wide death. There is a belief there will be a rebirth, which is a common Japanese concept (along with snow as a rebirth) and Ragnarok and Yggdrasil, The Tree of Life is mentioned.

    Is it just me, but does that main riff that kicks in after 20 secs (1'07" on your vid), remind anyone of The Dragon Cries by Band-Maid? Maybe an unconscious tribute?

    Konichiwa, I have so many positive things to say about this song, but I’ll be short. Musically it is very immersive, like surrounding yourself in a warm embrace. That might appear strange with the initial tone of the lyrics, but with all things Babymetal they end with an uplifting positive message. A masterpiece, in my opinion.

      Oh interesting. Is that a relatively new thing? I only ask because in the Mikio era he brought such a distinct level of guitar style to the music. I have so much to learn about BABYMETAL. Thanks for sharing!

    • @rickwagner-
      @rickwagner- 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That's true. Musicians are brought in to the studio on a song by song basis.
      We do know that Kami Band member Leda Cygnus played bass and guitar on several studio tracks though.
      He also has the official arrangement credit for 'No Rain, No Rainbow'.

      I'd not be surprised at all to know Barone is the one behind the drums here, that "nuances" are pretty much in line with his doing.

    Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。 When I heard "Divine Attack", I thought "We (BM fans) all know this is just one of their various faces that we are going to witness from now on. Let's not be judgmental in haste." This second song has proved it, but in a more drastic way than I expected. Su's pure voice resonates with the bones in my whole body like No Rain No Rainbow did. Vibrating to the resonance, I am now pondering on what the implication of the lyric is. 🤔 As you pointed out, what is the stark contrast between "that monochrome firework" and "the sky decorated in a spectrum of dreams" ?

    This single is the second from 'THE OTHER ONE', the upcoming concept album.
    While the song may be from an alternate "Metalverse" than our own, I still think it's important context to know that Su was born in Hiroshima, and lived there until she was thirteen.
    Her family is still based there.

    It didn't hit me until my second viewing of the video that this song and video address the atomic bombing(s). My first time through I was just focused on Su and the instruments and the composition. I can't imagine growing up in a place where decades earlier something so momentous and devastating happened, something you're undoubtedly reminded of over and over as you grow up.
    When I was in high school, I did meet Colonel Tibbets, the pilot of the plane that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima. My history teacher knew him since Col. Tibbets lived less than an hour away in Columbus, Ohio near the end of his life. He was kind and honest but blunt and matter of fact. I'm glad I got to meet him. Also, Bockscar, the plane that dropped the bomb on Nagasaki, is on display at the great Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. It's always sobering when I'm walking through the museum and Bockscar comes into view, especially since it has a replica of the "Fat Man" atomic bomb next to it.
