I believe playing gamelan music positively affects the brains activities, not only due to the HFC's but also due to the rote learning and memorization of the music. I've been playing Balinese gamelan for over 25 years and feel my brain is doing well! :-) I'm able to continue learning and memorizing new pieces as well as calling up old pieces. Actually imho I believe that playing, as well as listening to Gamelan, has many positive effects on our lives and brains. Thanks for asking!
FANTASTIC, Guys !!!! EXCELLENT !!! Thank u for your appreciation in Indonesian traditional music. Salute, because Gamelan is quite a complicated orchestra, however, it sounds really relaxing. Thank u very much indeed. Bravo !!!
music ist the only languange wich everybody in the world understand. If you don´t have any emotion you will not agree with it. Keep it up. As a Balinese i only can say..bagus! :))
Thank you for your comment and all the others! Glad you all enjoy our Chamber Gamelan. We just had a fun concert on Sunday - outdoors on a beautiful Southern California day in a picturesque setting. Wish someone videoed it - if I find that someone did, I'll upload it! maRia
They're as good as any Indonesian. But I realise that authenticity is an issue in the marketplace. But not from this particular consumer. They got Kotekan down. Can play it in their sleep. They're Bitchin' and might even have something over many Indonesians about what facets of gamelan that westerners might enjoy more. Jaap Kunst would be proud.
Thanks for sharing it. I heard that due to HFCs, the gamelan music affects the brain activities. How long you have been playing it and have you noticed any improvement in your brain? Thank you.
@mariabodmann Thank you, friend for your reply. It's true and you're right. You are lucky that you can play this music and playing it so long time. This special music is sonic that is why so useful, healthy for our brain, I believe. Thanks and kind regards. by the way, after 11:11 today, in this special day, I felt different, if my energy's tuned, feel amplified and tuned. I wonder how do you feel today? thanks again.
2006 and people still care what nationality someone is? music is music, people are people. take scottish bagpipes, they are actually from india, and the harmoniums used in traditional music from pakistan and india are from europe.
We play Gamelan because we love it, and btw authenticity has no color. We also play Gamelan for the same reasons Asians play piano or Yo-Yo Ma plays cello. Perhaps you should read the comments on your profile...
