The NFL has a large interest in these media outlets. In my opinion they distance themselves from CTE because they realize doing so will keep kids enrolled in youth football and keep the sport alive for years to come. There is no cure for CTE, and no way (currently) to treat this. The sport it’s self is too violent. To the youth who are newly informed before entering the NFL they HAVE to accept the high chances for brain injuries and high potential for shortening of their lifespan.

But if you want more insight into what Brady is talking about, check out Burfict's hit on AB in 2016. That was what triggered this. These guys are having compassion because it's CTE. After reading Tom Brady's comments, I went online and found a youtube video that chronicles several of Vontaze Burfict's hits. His 2016 hit on Antonio Brown was extremely violent and difficult to watch. I am not knowledgeable about CTE, but if I had received that blow on my head I would have immediately died or, minimally, would have had my brain shaken out of position and lost consciousness. There was also a second incident on October 14, 2018, in which Burfict laid an elbow to AB's helmet, which was also a violent and extremely dangerous blow, especially considering that AB was unaware of the hit that was coming to him. In both instances, it is evident that the larger player had the advantage (at least in weight, speed, direction of motion, situational awareness). You could be correct that blame is being placed on a potential victim of concussion, while not addressing the nature and cause of the behavior(s). While football, by definition, is a dangerous sport, certain aggressions should be banned from the game, and, as Tom Brady said, AB should be provided the help he might need, instead of being attacked (the latter not TB's words).

This is a great example. AB has mental health issues that in my opinion have never been fully addressed and have only been worsened by ongoing football contracts that have only served to enable his decline. @@RF-vg5kv it’s a difference between playing sports and living it. The body does weird things that your eye can’t catch. Unless you’re a doctor with a skill so keen that you could tell from watching a highlight of a guy leaving the field the way he wanted to wasn’t injured at all.

Midway through the game yesterday Bruce Arians and the offensive staff told Antonio Brown to go into the game. They believed that he was healthy. Antonio Brown did not believe that he was healthy. He had been battling an ankle injury for the last several weeks, did not practice Thursday, did not practice Friday, and personally had some doubts whether he would be out there and play. What he told the staff from what I understand, is that he was not going into the game because in his mind he did not feel he was healthy. The response then from the offensive coaches and from Bruce Arians was: if you’re not going to go into the game when we tell you to go into the game then you cannot be here. At that point, they threw him off the sidelines and cut him from the team.” according to Jay Glazer

January 2016, in a game between the Steelers and the Bengals, Vontaze Burfict hit Antonio Brown giving him a severe concussion. Everyone agrees that after that hit Brown was never the same again. What he did was wrong, what he did, harmed himself, what he did was not something to be admired, but this kind of behavior can occur after someone receives a traumatic brain injury. The really bad behavior began with Antonio Brown in 2017...he only had one bad incident before then. Not excusing him at all, but there is something deeper happening here and this man needs help. REAL help.

He needs help now, not after he's dead and it's found that he has CTE. Forget football, we're talking about a human life! I sincerely hope that A.B. gets the help that he needs.

Do you know how many people in the world, have depression or who've had shitty childhoods and just overall bad situations, who work 2 or 3 jobs to support their family who don't just up and leave their job in the middle of a shift, because if they do their child doesn't eat that week? Millions of people. ESPN I thought was a sports show, but now they are talking about mental health, not about players or former players or coaches, but now mental health in general. I'm sure they are genuine in what they are saying but, there are millions of people out there who would love to just up and leave their job and have a massive information apparatus come to their side and defend them.
