    I loved the Badoz and Isabel scenes and felt really sad when he left court (and Castilla).

    Lorenzo Badoz was a hero to the royal family. For the time he was there. 😇🤗🙂🤔

      Yes. What a shame he wasn't there when Isabella's son Prince John caught his fatal illness or when Princess Isabella had her fatal labour. Maybe Badoz could have done something.
      The Expulsion of the Jews really got back at Isabella.

      @@Lily1127channel True, but we really cannot blame anyone for the death of Prince Juan, Princess Isabel, or her son Prince Miguel. God called them home. So they would not suffer anymore.

    Do you think Badoz could have saved Juan, Isabella, Miguel and Margaret's child, had he remained in Castile?

    • @Lily1127channel
      @Lily1127channel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      Nothing is sure. He would have certainly improved Isabella's chances in her fatal labour, since fertility and births were the things he was most expert about. However, if Margaret's birth started too early, I don't think Badoz could have done anything to save a stillborn child. I don't know what exactly Miguel's cause of death was, so I don't know if it was within Badoz's knowledge to save him. If it was a regular child sickness, he could have probably done something, since he helped John pass such illnesses very often in his childhood. Maybe Badoz could have also helped at John's fatal illness. But again, nothing is sure.

      It looks like he performed an early version of a D&C. Basically, he knocked her out and scraped out the contents of her womb. It's likely that when she miscarried not all the contents of her womb were expelled, leading to infection.

    this episode was like a huge reality check for these people
    "I put my duties before my health." -> "so?"
    "Is this good for Christians?" -> "why does that matter?"
    "but he's Jewish!" -> "He's killed fewer people."

    Isn't this the same girl who became Ferdinand's mistress? What if she really were sabotaging Isabel...shouldn't they have done a thorough background check at least?

    • @Lily1127channel
      @Lily1127channel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Yes, she became his mistress later.
      Of course she was initially a noble lady of good reputation, niece of Isabel's best friend Beatriz de Bobadilla, nobody knew she would misbehave later.

      Didn’t the pope ban autopsies? That stopped Christians from learning about the human body for centuries.
      Judaism and Islam focused more on the sciences and were more accepting of sciences. They did not stagnate.

      It was the Church who banned these studies and colleges. And the nerve after all the Jews did for Spain and for Ferdinand and Isabella they forced them convert or be expelled and they founded the Inquisition which was established because they wanted the Jews' possessions. Typical medieval Christian "love".

      It is known from history that Badoz cured her "infertility", aka her being unable to get pregnant again for a long time, after her miscarriage. But I don't know if we know exactly what kind of procedure/surgery Badoz used that helped her get pregnant again.
