    A moustache that is separated is definitely more my style than one that kind of melds into the beard. Currently I’m trying to grow my stache into sort of a hybrid handlebar that either has a slight upward curl or just pointing out from the corners of my mouth. I like it to be distinguished from my beard and the technique you demonstrate here could be an easy way to achieve and maintain the look! 👍🏻

    For the time I've spent hearing your great tips and advice, I find that your ideas are just as informative. I think it looks cool with or without the separation.

    Stache is on point Dan! That’s how I keep mine too, didn’t want to go for the handlebar but I think this is a little more rugged approach to a similar look. Also, my mustaches is more blonde then the rest of my beard so it stands out. Gives kind of a rugged, outlaw cowboy kinda vibe. I think it’s a good look with a full beard plus, it’s easy to maintain.

    Right on Dan! This is something I have been doing since the beginning of my beardness. Like you, my stache is a different color than my beard. It still has dark whiskers in it, unlike my beard which is gray. Stay safe brother. 🙏

    I like #1
    But as a history teacher, you could definitely rock a handlebar.
    My Dad RIP, had a handlebar since Vietnam. He won a mustache comp before chemo. It fell out, but he grew it back. I use some Savvy Jack and twist mine up just a bit for some seperation, and kind of a tribute to him. In the ICU with N95s, it ends up a lazy walrus by the end of the shift.
    I kept his trophy and it sits on the medicine cabinet in my bathroom. That was his identity. 🙂

    Been blending in the lazy walrus due to my stache just not being thick enough to hold its own 😔 also, did you shorten or blend the sideburns? That’s my number one fly away part while the rest of my beard just lays flat because of the length. I’ve tried your straightening tips from previous video but it just doesn’t hold.

    • @DanCBearded
      @DanCBearded  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No shortening on the sides that I can think of! Just more heat likely

  • @mattmoberg1461
    @mattmoberg1461 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure if you already mentioned and I missed it, but do you personally use any mustache wax, balm? If so, when and why? Personally, I am not a huge fan on handlebars or having much balm/wax in any part of my face, but I have noticed as of late just the slightest amount can really go a long way and hold up those corner hairs that sometimes tend to end up in my mouth while I’m eating . Particularly if I incorporate a little heat and use blow dryer.. not something I do every day but have found it helps get those hairs off the lip while still maintaining the same coverage to the eye.

I use heat and do the lazy walrus, but it has a mind of it’s own. I have done small trims to try to keep it out of my mouth, but it ends up there anyway, especially when I eat. It’s not my favorite look but it doesn’t look bad. I like the where my mustache blends into my beard at the lip. My wife likes it and really isn’t that a good percentage of why we do it. Keep up the good work and videos. And I would like a crash course on terminology, and these funny names are hilarious, maybe some guest mustaches with the different styles for those of us not on the cusp of men’s hair grooming trends. 😆

    Hey dan quick question I was wondering what your thoughts/advice were on unnatural beard products/ products that don’t use all natural ingredients. Are they safe or should they be avoided? I figured since it’s product that’s going on your face and inhalable I wasn’t sure if someone would want anything not natural, thanks again for all you do!

      Hey Alex! It’s probably a case by case situation. I would have to see the ingredients

    I have normally just done the lazy walrus style, but I do use a heat brush on it and my bottom lip. Then I take a boars brush and trace along my upper lip. This is mostly to get the hairs out of my mouth, but does give a line on the bottom of my mustache that kind of extends my mouth line a bit.

    I like your mustache and beard better without the separation. But both look good.

    Due to work regulations i have to keep my mustache hairs trimmed above my top lip. But i run my finger tips from the corner of my mouth outward roughly half an inch, somewhat like what you're doing, which catches some hairs that are more accurately considered beard hairs. It helps me give more allusion of fullness/grandness to my mustache area without actually going against company regulation.

    The lazy walrus looks better, imo. I'm gonna go for a handlebar when mine is long enough.

    I like it! I guess I've been training mine to flick up from the corner of my mouth, rather than continue down into the beard in a straight line, if that makes sense. Almost like a really loose handlebar I suppose you could say. I'm going to give this a go, thanks Dan.

    I have been doing a lazy walrus for about 1 year now and I enjoy it. Plus I have been doing the mustache separation from the beard and I really enjoy the look but how it blends. I have a little blonde coloration at the end of my mustache and it really enhances the look I am going for. Great video and demo.

    Great timing on this one. I actually prefer your lazy walrus look, it's what I've been aiming for but my 'stache is not nearly long enough to do it yet. Thankx for all your work!

    Recently you said no one notices if you are having a good or bad beard day they just see your beard but I did notice that your mustache looked a little cooler to me. I actually am finally growing mine out and kind of started doing what you just showed on the video figuring this is what you must be doing to your mustache. For once I’m ahead of the game. I hope I can grow it out because what I have going on I have never ever liked but just cannot stand the feel of the hair on my lips. You are going to get me to try heat on my mustache, if not beard, one of these days!!

    My mustache is disconnected from my beard anyway but I like the video it looks good and I am envious of your facial hair growing ability. I've gotten to where I've been keeping my beard pretty short.

    Dan what's a good beard dye that won't irritate me? Just for men is horrible I get a huge rash. Simpler beard dye does the same thing?

      Unfortunately none. The ones are safe do not last very long at all. An example would be Henna. I truly recommend embracing the color
