Sandopolis Zone is yet another song that's barely been edged out in favor of other remakes for GaMetal May Madness remake events. I first remixed this one in 2011, and I've been getting requests to remake it for May for several years. If not for Escape from the City having such a high amount of votes last year, Sandopolis would have taken its place.
Well not this time!
This has always been a personal favorite Sonic song of mine. For a Sonic song, it's rather slow, but still has a really cool melody, and that's what has always made it stand out to me.

One of the best sand/desert themes in my opinion. A heavily egyptian-inspired vibe, mixed with some kind of oasis sounding vibes
The Subterra stage's theme from the Bakugan game is good too.

Sounds amazing my friend. I misread this as "Studiopolis Zone"...and I'm like, no way you did that one without me haha. Seriously this sounds good and brought back all the nostalgic feels with that Atma edge that I needed this morning!
When I was little I remember wanting to play this level but I could never get far enough. My exposure back then was letting the title screen sit on long enough for the game to show a little demo of them playing.

You actually pulled out the Sandopolis Zone GaMetal remake!!! I'm so glad dude, thank you so much! I expected this back in 2015's May Madness, then kinda lost hope after that. Thought you were gonna remake Emerald Hill instead for some reason. The 2011 Sandopolis Zone cover used to be my favorite GaMetal until you released the Pokemon Champion Medley in 2015. This 2020 version is now my favorite GaMetal remix, I cannot thank you enough for this!

Poor time to suggest this, given you've just done a Sonic song, but any chance you could check out the soundtrack for the Saturn version of Sonic 3D blast? That soundtrack is CRIMINALLY underrated. And volcano valley would make an amazing metal remix if the pace was picked up a bit.

I only recently discovered the Saturn soundtrack and I'm quite upset I went all these years with out hearing it. I second this notion.
The special stage music from that game is something I can imagine sounding really fun in his style
I would honestly love to hear Special Stage and Rusty Ruins from this version. Especially the latter, given its new-age sound :)

After the Sandopolis remix in Team Sonic Racing became one of my favourites, you're the only one who managed to beat it.

This was absolutely stellar to listen to and watch. I was just catching up on some of the content and this turned out to be the third one that i watched and listened to. I love that you shine a spotlight on the different sounds layered in these nostalgic music tracks, it makes this whole experience even more kick-ass. Great work! 10/10

sadly what will be missing is the awesome long acoustic ending of that song. some of those were so creative. that and what he did for the end of cradle from goldeneye (a whole minute of the watch pause theme!). now they're all just a short acoustic blurb ):

You did a wonderful job with this track, but I couldn't help but compare it to Tee Lopes rendition used in Team Sonic Racing at first. But after listening to them both back to back, I love how yours is more rock oriented while keeping that synth backing. While TSR is fast and frantic throughout, yours almost tells a story with its progression. Discovery of the temple with Act 1, the slow heavy trudge through the dark with Act 2, then a speed shoes/final lap escape sequence at the end. Top quality work as always!

Wait, the Silver Surfer theme got voted in? Here I was, thinking that this was one of the only pre-2015 GaMetal remixes that couldn't safely be improved on. Among other things, I love how that old remix incorporates part of the ending of the loop like it should have been at the beginning.
And this seems to be the May Madness where Jonny Atma is willing to remix songs for the third time (e.g. the Punch-Out!! medley)...
For next May, can you possibly do the Super Smash Bros. Brawl main theme, the Final Fantasy Mystic Quest boss theme, Galaxy Man's theme, or Boss B from Star Fox 64?
As for themes new to GaMetal, I've been thinking that Multi-Man Melee 1 is underrated lately....
Godamnit. Now all I can remember is being trapped in a seemingly never ending pyramid of sandslides while it gets darker and those ghosts get larger...

When i was young i though the ghosts were gonna jumpscare me so i watched a gameplay to know how to avoid them lmao.
When I was a kid and played through that level, even I wasn't that stupid. I used common sense and knew that switches are what makes ghost go away. So I decided to jump on one as is the rational response to seeing it.

Now this is what I'm talking about! I love this theme in the original and even your old remix when pretty good, but this is way better, almost sounds like the remix of Sandopolis from Team Sonic Racing but if it was for a level theme instead of a racing theme, really fantastic job, I love it! ^^

This level always gave me anxiety as soon as those lights started to dim
Sandopolis always calls out for metal remixes. The main lick has so much potential for metal influence. The old metal cover from BrainCells in the early 2000s was one of the sickest ever. This cover was fantastic, and I loved the super sonic bit. I'd have kept the keyboard out and just added more layers of guitar. Bonus points for that little credits theme cover at the end.
