- Public Media Art "Whale #2" by a'strict

a'strict, a collaborative media artist unit formed by d'strict, showcased public media artworks titled 'Whale #2'(2021) in New York City's Times Square in July 2021.
'Whale #2' occupies a 1,400㎡-large screen, Illuminating the pedestrian plaza at the center of the iconic Times Square, transforming the electronic display board into a hyperrealistic three-dimensional space where waves are crashing down on a majestic blue whale.
d’strict will continuously publish various sensuous art contents in the form of public media art.

디스트릭트의 미디어아티스트 유닛 '에이스트릭트'는 2021년 7월 뉴욕 타임스스퀘어에서 공공미술 작품 'Whale #2'(2021)를 선보였습니다.
'Whale #2'는 타임스스퀘어 중심에 위치한 광장(Pedestrian Plaza)을 밝히는 약 1400㎡ 크기의 전광판 전체를 입체적 공간으로 바꿔, 파도의 움직임에 따라 역동적으로 춤추는 고래의 형상을 초현실적으로 연출한 작품입니다.
디스트릭트는 다양한 퍼블릭 미디어에 활용될 수 있는 감각적인 아트 콘텐츠를 지속적으로 선보일 예정입니다.

너무 뻔한게 아니라 누구나 지나가면서 멋지다! 뭐지? 어디꺼지? 이랬을때 한국에 있는 회사에서 만든거래 라고 하면 엄청 짜릿할듯. 그 정도로 매우 멋짐!!

...love the digital illusion of crashing waves but the whale is kind of creepy. (Prefer it without the ghost whale.)

i just love how we have the technology to fool our eyes to think it's actually there in our 3D space.
i could imagine a MASSIVE screen in a special park where we can safely interact with 5k animals close. the feeling would be incredible while at the same time removing the need to keep animals just for show and NOT care. zoos do help animals in need, but i assume (experts correct me if i am wrong please)
80%-90% animals didn't NEED to stay there. they could've been cured then released. we now breed them and domesticate them, but maybe we can change that
