Many thanks for this detailed and well made video which helped me to understand this topic, you deserve many more viewers because of so much efforts you put in these videos. Greetings from Serbia and Belgrade university ( Faculty of Geography)
Sir why Mozambique current doesn’t cause upwelling? While it is moving along the coast it experiences Coriolis force to its LEFT so depletion of water would have taken place !? please clarify this sir
Upwelling is mainly caused by winds and not currents, the African continent does not strech south enough for roaring forties or sixties to become effective. Moreover, in the east south african coast winds blow from land to seaand they do not align with the coast. One more thing technicaly Mozambique current is not a true current but it's is. Flow of eddies
@@zetaupscSir in Upwelling video u explained that when Wind moves PARALLEL to coast it experience Coriolis Force and in (south It deflects Left side) and cause Upwelling. So are you saying that (NO winds) are Blowing PARALLEL to East Coast of Africa?
@@rahulreddy9137 yes dear winds are neither properly aligned along. Coast nor do they have sufficient velocity moreover. The Mozambique current flows in form of eddies rather than pure current hence no upwelling
Could I ask if it would be possible for floating debris from the middle of Gulf of Thailand to follow reverse winter currents and make its way to Madagascar? Thank you for your time
The Thai gulf is seperated from Indian Ocean by Indonesia, however water from Pacific Ocean does enter Indian Ocean through straits, so it could be possible. However I cannot say it with great certainly
Sir in 2015 UPSC asked a question What explains the eastward flow of the equatorial counter current? (2015) (a) The Earth’s rotation on its axis (b) Convergence of the two equatorial currents (c) Difference in salinity of water (d) Occurrence of the belt of calm near the equator Can u pls explain this I don't understand why the answer is B ? Pls reply
It's a controversial question, both b and d are relevant answer. But d seems to be more relevant because both the equatorial currents accumulate water over the western margin of ocean, which causes increase in level of water. Water from higher level is pulled down due to gravity. Now because there is no air current near equator the water moves down. I am with d as answe
Thank you so much sir. This is the best content for geography I found o n YT
Thanks keep watching n sharing 😊

Really glad it was helpful. Keep watching and sharing and help us get more views :). Greeting from India
Sir, please do video on kelvin waves and its impact on india
sir, why no upwelling on west australian coast?
The west coast of australia is mostly in temerpate zone where westerlies flow, thus the direction of air flow is not supportive for upwelling,
