@@GoodandPlanty it will happen, just in it's own time! My peace lily bloomed when first bought, and then didn't for 4 years, and then has produced 3 pretty blooms so far this year! Dappled light conditions, humidity (so not a very dry environment....my house has some mould even with heating on and so the plants love it 😅), and watering with a weak solution of liquid fertiliser will all help ;)
How can i get mine to flower??? It's growing beautifully but hasn't flowered since I brought it home from the store which was 4 yrs ago & it has more than doubled in size! What's the trick??
I recently was sent home with one of these plants from my Granny’s funeral. I really didn’t expect it to last as long as it did, I don’t exactly have a green thumb 😳 but I have been able to keep up with watering and making sure it gets light. I noticed some little white buds on it a couple weeks ago and to my surprise this morning I have a LILY!!! I was so excited 😆 not only did I keep a plant alive but it bloomed a beautiful little flower for me ☺️
Aw I’m so sorry for your loss. My grandma passed in February . My peace lily didn’t come from her funeral but she was a huge plant person and we always had it since it was hers 💗
Piece lilies are very underrated plants. They make beautiful large glossy leaves, are very forgiving to drought and never ever get any plague. I got a small one now 5 years ago and it grew to be as big as yours. Thank you for the great tips!!
Once a month I use rice water (water that I use to wash rice before cooking it) to water my peace lily, that way I don’t need to use chemical fertilizers
I received my Peace Lily at my Momma's funeral 30+ months ago. It's almost as tough as a rubber tree plant, and the blooms are so pretty. I went from a 6 inch pot to a BIG 14 inch terra cotta, with just potting soil and it has gone CRAZY big. I use the blue-green powdered fertilizer at a tablespoon per gallon every two-three weeks and it has multiplied "baby plants" like crazy, and it really needs more humidity (brown leaf tips), but she has two blooms right now! A very "friendly" house plant. My late Momma could grow African Violets like weeds in little pots in the window, but I don't have the "knack" for them.
I keep mine right by my east facing window directly in morning sun and it seems to love it. I placed 2 water bubbles in it and heavily water it every week. When I’ve waited longer I get brown tips, and it doesn’t seem as happy. I also use tap water, and feed it liquid food when I water it heavily. It blooms often about 3-5 flowers at a time. I rotate it slowly on a daily basis, it’s become a routine, And I talk to it. Lol. Yes, I’m one of those people!
I bought this plant on clearance half dead, had no clue what it was. Reported it with a pothos 🪴 and a few months ago it grew these beautiful white flowers. It was definitely a pleasant surprise.
Very helpful video! I love love love peace lillies. I got one for my birthday in August 2020 and it'll be turning a year soon. It has given me no issues at all. I love it even with no blooms. I've never even fertilized it once but after your video I'll start during spring. We are in winter now. I plan to get myself a second one but this time I want a giant one that I'll put on the floor next to my tall fiddle leaf fig plant. Love from South Africa 🇿🇦 🇿🇦
I got a plant trio from my moms funeral (not quite a year ago) which included a beautiful peace lily. I was told that when you have to water more often than weekly then it needs separated. I literally took a scissors and cut it into 3rds following a TH-cam video 😬 I gave one to my sister in law and still have two that have grown and flowered twice now. This was my first real houseplant and now I’m obsessed. I’m happy I seen this video before I ever propagated again, or maybe I should say before I butchered it again. So glad I found your channel ❤️
I'm new to the plant life and so excited I found your channel. I started with a Peace Lily, and now it's time to get her a new pot. These tips have me feeling more confident, thanks.
I have peace lily's from my mother, brother and cousins passing. I am obsessed with these plants in the winter months because the tips and some of the leaves turn brown. I purchased an humidifier hopefully that helps! When I put them outside during the summer months they really flourish, flowers bloom and the leaves are really pretty and green.
I am sorry for your loss I just received 3 peace lily plants from the passing of my baby sister in April I had a hard time at first so I put them in front of my sunroom window they didn't like the sunroom at all I only water maybe once a week@@Brownskinhoney
I saved a peace lily almost two years ago, and everything went awesome, we instantly conected... but a few weeks ago I think I overwatered it and I realized some roots where rotting.🥺 I repotted and cleaned the best I could, but I had to cut a lot of leaves of it. It’s like we are at the beginning again.😔 Wish us luck!✨🌿🥺 P.S: you have a new subscriber!
I had the same ! My plant was big and beautyfull. Sudden it looked like a bomb felt in the middle and leaves hang down. Repotted, roots were rotting. I took most of it off. After few days leaves still hanging. I bought recent New fertiliteit, but cannot remember if i gave it and thén got bad
My work has this plant and I didn't know it was a Peace Lily until it started blooming! I was so surprised and I've been pruning and watering her whenever we're not busy. Thanks for the info; I wanna buy one for my bedroom now :)
Useful info... Thank you 😁 I inherited a peace lily 6 years ago from a friend of mine that was dying of cancer it is probably three and a half feet wide.
Your peace lily is a big beauty and has lovely blooms!! I don’t have a peace lily but I totally want one now 😍 I’m learning so much, had no clue about the spathe and all that, thanks for all the info!
“Sensation” is the massive peace lily. I came across one for $4 at Lowe’s and thought wait is this the same as on good and planty’s channel!? I believe it is. Peace lily Sensation is the name I have found from a few sources
I have a seven year old peace lilly currently its got 10 blooms it was a im sorry plant from my husband lol now I have a year old peace lilly with 3 blooms they are my favorite plant honestly. I never water mine until I see them droop a little and that was because I'm lazy so glad that it tells me it's thirsty. I also shower mine for pretty clean leaves haha
I wouldn’t mind seeing a video like this about rubber plants! Not sure if you can still see comment notifications on this video, or if you check, but if you do I love your channel. Your tips have helped me to take proper care of my own little jungle 🪴
You have a nice and pleasant voice. I enjoyed this video and i found answers I need for my peace lily. Good work and looking forward to more of your videos.
I've had my peace Lilly for over 2 years. Yes it flowers. Its such and easy plant to maintain. And I propergated some other plants i have not sure of its names but I first let it sit in water for about 2 weeks until rooted then I gave it a home in soil watered it and it grow. I love science art agriculture. I'm really good at is.
_Sombie_ it’s always sad when a plant reaches the end of its lifespan but i can imagine its extremely rewarding to start a whole new plant from seed. i’ve never done that! wishing you the best of luck.
Great video. I have a peacelily and its in full bloom too. Everything you've said in this video is actually what I've been doing as well with my plant. Great job!
Thank you so much for the information!! I am new to the plant world and have a Peace Lily that needs some TLC! I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos!
Do you cut the leaf stem together with the flower once it dies? I'm scared to cut mine. If possible, would you be able to do a video on how to cut dead flowers properly?
This is so helpful!! My big ass peace lily recently gets big, dry, brown patches with yellow rims and I don't know what I did wrong. If someone knows what it could be please tell me!
Well, I’ve tested the soil as was suggested by sticking my finger down about 2 inches or so. It wasn’t wet at all - so I haven’t added any water for days although I keep checking ever couple fo days and watch for any drooping.
It may have a fungus. Watch the new leaves and see if it continues to spread. I had one and it did the same thing. I eventually had to throw her out. 😔
I too have a mature peace lily that doesn’t flower and my care routine is super similar to yours! Might try the worm castings like another commenter said. thank you so much for this video, your plants are beautiful!! 🤩
thank you so much!! i hope your peace lily blooms for you! luckily the foliage is striking, especially on mature plants. so glad that you saw the worm castings tip - i also want to give it a go!
Omg thank you this video was so helpful…I received one because my dear sister just passed away…so it is my life’s mission to keep this thing alive in her honor lol. I think I over watered it at first but your tips are helpful. I just repotted it and started a second one so fingers crossed lol.
This really help,. Thank you about the soil to get for your plant ,. I just got this plant couple of days.. thank you for the tip..much appreciated 😁😊❤️💞👍💯😁
I recently purchased a HUGE Spathiphyllum 'Sensation' at a nearby Lowes. I unfortunately got it mixed up with a birds of paradise because of its large leaves and no blooms. It's doing very well!✨❣️
I wish I could show you guys my peace lillyes ! They have currently 9 flowers each and started flowering since I got them in January! I saw many videos and to be honest my lilies get more light than people suggesting in the videos! Mine get all morning sun til noon . They do needs light! , I fertilize every 2 weeks with miracle gro plant Food, and I water them 2 times a week ! Also I spry their leaf ! I am Colombian and they grow and flower just in humed and sunny spots back home as well !
I agree with your tips to flower and I would add that I do NOT use fertilizer on mine but rather I put worm castings on the top of the soil every month and it has been giving me flowers ever since
I've been thinking about trying out worm castings as a replacement for my fertilizer! I heard it's a great alternative/supplement. Good to know my peace lily would be happy and maybe even less crispy 🙂
i watched this before i got my peace lily (named nicholas angel if anyone gets the reference ) and now im watching it again so he gets treated right !!!!! so helpful thank you !!!!!!!1
Thanks for this video. I have a green thumb, but it's not because I know what I'm doing. This video was very informative. I feel like I can replant the office peace lily.
Got a peace lily for my birthday in June and its growing like mad! I did wonder why the white turned green alright was wondering if it was too bright but damn its gorgeous
Hi I have one of these plants but I never got it to bloom. I used to have it in water but my mom said it’s better to have it in dirt so here I am looking up the proper care and seen you again so clicked on it. Thanks for the info again💕
I've had 2 peace lilies for a year now, and was worried because they only flowered a little bit this year, but I'm proud of even that after reading other peoples not flowering for years lol So I must be doing something right. Repotting them both for the first time this year and I'm nervous. Thanks so much for the informative video! Random question, I'm repotting them into plastic pots since others are so expensive, the pots have drain holes, but I was wondering if I should add pebbles to the bottom to help with draining or will the drain holes be enough?
Peace lilies are extremely water-hungry and I do agree about letting them dry out a bit. If I were to use a moisture meter as a guide, I let mine get down to level 3 (sometimes i forget and it's fine down to level 2) before they show signs of drooping. However, I avoid getting them to that stage (droopy). I would however not advise putting them in a terrcota pot haha i'd be stressed. I did that once and it dries out so quickly I'd end up needed to water 2-3 times per week. My go to mix for peace lilies are always 2:1 peat:cactus + perlite kinda ratio. Always more on the peat moss for me since I'm lazy at watering. lol
I just found your channel and really enjoy your videos! I never knew that there were "big" and "small" varieties of the Peace Lily. Ha! Just thought they were old and young.
I just found out that Peace lily's are Libra Lucky plants. I was blessed to pickup 1 huge plant thats about to bloom flowers for $20 . IM SO BLESSED. I will update on how much luck they will bring me .
I just bought a small one with a single bloom and I love it. I'm looking for the perfect pot to bring it into my bedroom. Hopefully it's not too cold in there, I usually keep the temp at 24° celsius.
I have a Peace Plant from my son's passing. I want to keep it thriving. I finally put it unto a larger pot. I am doing all of the hints that you gave but the tips of the leaves are turning brown. I let it get almost dry thinking that was the issue. I gave a good watering and let it dry slowly. I even gave it a mixture of water and hydrogen peroxide as suggested. The tips are still brown and it droops. I don't want to lose this Plant if any way possible. 😢 I have always had a green thumb. I don't understand.
It’s like you just know what plants I want to add to my space 😂 thank you! Lovely video as always 💛 also if I buy a 4” pot lily is it likely to grow into a bigger pot if I give it the right care?
Thank you!! I love when I can help! If you buy a 4 inch pot, it will grow bigger. Just make sure it's not one of the dwarf varieties, like 'piccolino' for example.🙂
The bit about the chemicals certainly explains why the plant arrived pristine, and then the second I brought it into my home the flower started turning brown. I thought maybe it had been overwatered right before showing up at my door. But no, it's just December, and the bloom was a lie in the first place. Poor peace lily, I'll prune that as soon as my gardening shears arrive and give it the restful winter it needs
Oh wow... I've been the worst with my Peace Lily. I've had it for almost 8 years now and it only bloomed like 3 times. I'm also guilty of still having it in the original pot it came with, even though it's probably 10 times its size from when I bought it. Thank you for sharing your tips. I'm going to work on it this weekend and hopefully it'll grow beautiful. I have the plant in the kitchen with a translucent skylight. Is that too much light?
of course! i usually do not recommend this because the plant will need time to adjust to the new pot. don't want to overwhelm the plant! it also depends on if the soil you are using already has fertilizer in it. each plant/fertilizer is different though so more gentle fertilizers may be ok.
I have a large peace lily (not quite as large as yours) that is beautiful and blooming like crazy. I have it in a SW facing room. It has been drooping more frequently and the leaves are turning yellow (I think in part to much sun). I decided to propagate the plant and I noticed that it was root bound as well. I decided to divide it into three smaller plants. My question is... do you think I should fertilize it now or would you recommend waiting a bit to fertilize it?
Thank u! I am a 1st yr. Piece Lilly mommy...and was wondering y the brown tips, so distilled h20 here I come, and it's n the window now so know it can b moved plus I can pull back on keeping her so wet.
Thank you for sharing this video, it revealed to me how little information I knew about this special plant. Now, my Peace Lily has browning leaves and some moisture due to improper watering and other maintenance rituals. I wanted to ask what should I do to turn my baby around? Please feel free to ask me questions because I need guidance : )
hi! i would change your routine to make it more ideal for the plant's needs. as damaged leaves start to die, feel free to prune them off. as long as the roots of the plant are okay, you'll notice a recovery over time! :)
my peace lily is very large, 2 feet tall from top of pot. and it looks like a bush very full, leaves are large and green and it is flowering now which has many large flowers. I have only had plant for one month. I will baby my plant, its beautiful
Hello I have this plant too and when I bought it, it was biig(each leaf about the size of a hand) but it started getting small and smaller! After two or three years, its leaves became tiny (each leaf about 2 cm). What should i do?
My peace Lilly starts to bloom but then the flower browns and dies. Hoping your video can help! I also got mine at home depot with a “self watering” string system so maybe that’s the issue.
I have the exact same thing! I have another peace lily in a regular pot and it is thriving so much better I have been thinking about repotting the one with the string
P.S. I have a ZZ plant that is in a 3inch that is doing very well. It sent off two new shoots. However, the pot is getting a bit misshapen (over grown) but there are no roots coming out of the bottom. If you have any experience and can do a video on these plants
that is awesome!! i think the key for you would be to give it plenty of room to grow out and to not let it get too dry. the stems tend to droop when thirsty which may lead to snapping.

This is such an excellent video on peace lilies, thanks for such a great explanation.Your peace lily looks amazing! 😍
thank you so much natalie! hope you have a lovely week 🌿
I wondered this too! This would be very helpful
This is so helpful!! My big ass peace lily recently gets big, dry, brown patches with yellow rims and I don't know what I did wrong. If someone knows what it could be please tell me!
My problem too! I’m so disappointed
Maybe overwatering😕
It's doing very well!✨❣️
i can totally see that happening! at least you caught it 🤭 so glad it's thriving!
I am peace lilly maniac
Really in love with this beutiful gorgeous plant
i'm also a peace lily maniac
Thanks for the tip about the color change of the flower! I would like to know what the plant next to your Peace Lily is.
It's a monstera but not sure which one
I just rescued a BEHEMOTH of a tragic peace lily at Lowes and I have so much faith in my girl! She's in the shower right now draining :)
I did the same! It was bone dry and totally wilted. I watered it and it came back just fine. It’s looking great now.
I feel like my peace Lilly is emotional. I feel like every other day it droops. Literally 2 days after I water it, it’s drooping. It’s so weird
they are so thirsty! i feel like mine drinks so much water. maybe yours needs a repot? the water could just be flowing straight through the pot
Good & Planty great advice. Thank you! I will most likely repot this weekend
My did that. I just watered it like two days ago and it’s drooping!
Just found this channel. One vid in and I’m loving it
I agree with your tips to flower and I would add that I do NOT use fertilizer on mine but rather I put worm castings on the top of the soil every month and it has been giving me flowers ever since
I've been thinking about trying out worm castings as a replacement for my fertilizer! I heard it's a great alternative/supplement. Good to know my peace lily would be happy and maybe even less crispy 🙂
i watched this before i got my peace lily (named nicholas angel if anyone gets the reference ) and now im watching it again so he gets treated right !!!!! so helpful thank you !!!!!!!1
is that hot fuzz? 👀 i'm so glad you found my video helpful!!! i hope your plant THRIVES!
@@GoodandPlanty yes it is I couldn't resist , thank you !
This was a very helpful detailed to the point video. You did an excellent job 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks for this video. I struggled with the peace lily so now I know what to do for it.
Can you feature the Dracacena some day?
oh good! i'd love to do that one day :)
Thank for sharing your knowledge I have peace lilies they’re beautiful plant 🪴 very good for indoor
Should be fine, just depends on your potting mix. I have mine in basic potting soil and they are fine.
Mine is doing great.. thanks for this it’s really interesting 😻
Always more on the peat moss for me since I'm lazy at watering. lol
Thanks for mansplaining peace Lily care to the plant TH-camr your input is awesome 👍🏽
Oh, your peace lily is gorgeous!
I just found your channel and really enjoy your videos! I never knew that there were "big" and "small" varieties of the Peace Lily. Ha! Just thought they were old and young.
Awesome video. Very helpful. was given a small peace lily just over a year ago. Didn’t know anything about them but it’s a monster now.
Thank you for this video very helpful tips! My husband gifted me a peace lily for mothers day and I had no idea how to care for it!
how sweet!! happy mother's day to you...hope your plant thrives 🌼
I just found out that Peace lily's are Libra Lucky plants. I was blessed to pickup 1 huge plant thats about to bloom flowers for $20 . IM SO BLESSED. I will update on how much luck they will bring me .
how fun! peace lilies are beautiful 💚
Thank you. Can you please share same thing for snake plant and rubber plant. 😊
i would love to! i’ll write it down and try to do them before the year is up :)
I'm sorry for your loss x
I’m so sorry for your loss, and I hope your plant gets better and thrives! ☺️🌱
Might be a temperature or humidity issues… they don’t like drafts either so think about where you’re keeping your plant. Hope this helps
Add inch of sand on top of soil to avoid knats. Could be knats affecting it.
Awesome!!!! Thanks for this great information ❤
Thanks so much for this video, just got one as a gift and I’m exited so see it grow 😋🥺
omg so fun!! 🌸🌸🌸
Thank you. Great video and the most informative with ease to find 👍
You and your peace lily are lovely ❤
thank you!! 🌿
Good job. Thank you for the good info. Nice and to the point.
Poor peace lily, I'll prune that as soon as my gardening shears arrive and give it the restful winter it needs
sounds like the perfect plan!! around spring time she should perk up and be all adjusted to your home 😌
just bought a baby peace lily for $5 at the grocery store and i’ve been wanting one for sooo long
Thank you for this very informative video. Do you suggest fertilizing right after when repotting?
of course! i usually do not recommend this because the plant will need time to adjust to the new pot. don't want to overwhelm the plant! it also depends on if the soil you are using already has fertilizer in it. each plant/fertilizer is different though so more gentle fertilizers may be ok.
Thanks for the awesome tips.
Big cheers from India 🇮🇳
Happy Diwali
Just got my first plant! great video thank you for the insight!
my peace lily is very large, 2 feet tall from top of pot. and it looks like a bush very full, leaves are large and green and it is flowering now which has many large flowers. I have only had plant for one month. I will baby my plant, its beautiful
Hello
I have this plant too and when I bought it, it was biig(each leaf about the size of a hand) but it started getting small and smaller! After two or three years, its leaves became tiny (each leaf about 2 cm).
What should i do?
Hey how do you makesure your plants get watered when you are away for vacation about a month?
Water the bottom instead in the top.
@@FaithWalker13 I’m definitely going to do it now. Seems like a good idea but maybe not for the peace Lilly
P.S. I have a ZZ plant that is in a 3inch that is doing very well. It sent off two new shoots. However, the pot is getting a bit misshapen (over grown) but there are no roots coming out of the bottom. If you have any experience and can do a video on these plants
Glad I found your video my peace lily is just as huge as yours . And I have so many new blooms . How do I keep the stems from bending and snapping ?
that is awesome!! i think the key for you would be to give it plenty of room to grow out and to not let it get too dry. the stems tend to droop when thirsty which may lead to snapping.
Super useful video! Thank you very much
thank you! and that’s a great point. i’ll definitely try to be more mindful of that in future videos ☺️
Hi, would like to ask on the potting mix I should use? Do I add coco coir or orchid bark into the potting soil?
