- Rev. Andrew Lobban and Dr. Ali Ataie examine the role of Jesus, son of Mary (peace and blessings be upon him), in the Bible and Christian theology and contrasts with his role in the Qur’an and Islamic theology.
Ahead of the holiday season, this event is intended to show, that despite religious differences and worldwide turmoil, people of faith can always find common ground.
Patricia Munro (speaking independently as a Jew) & Edlyn Aisha Sammanasu (MCC) opened the program with a few words about the ever-present need to connect faith traditions for mutual compassion.

ABOUT THE PANELISTS
Rev. Andrew (Andy) Lobban has served as the Rector of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Livermore since June 2016. During that time, he has been quite active in interfaith cooperation and dialogue throughout the tri-valley. Andy came to St. Bart’s via Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, where he served for four years as associate clergy, overseeing much of the outreach and social justice programming. He also served as Priest and Chaplain at Good Samaritan Community Services in San Antonio, Texas. Reverend Andy completed a Master of Divinity at the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas. He also studied at the University of California, Berkeley, and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Ustadh Dr. Ali Ataie is a perennial student and researcher involved in interfaith activities for over two decades. He holds a Master’s in Biblical studies focusing on New Testament and Biblical languages. He also has a Ph.D. in cultural and historical studies in religion from the Graduate Theological Union. His doctoral work focused on Muslim hermeneutics of Biblical texts, especially the Gospel of John. He lives in San Ramon, CA, with his wife Roya and three daughters.

I so much respect the reverend for his honesty. May Allah guide him to the way of Jesu; i.e Islam. Ameen
I love these Interfaith Dialoques where Dr. Ali Ataie shares his amazing knowledge of biblical/Quranic hermeneutics. But seriously, why hasnt Ali Ataie written a book refuting Christian theology or at the very least the case for Quranic Christology? It would be the best seller no questions asked.

It is very interesting that when the good reverend explains Deutoronomy 18:15-18, he acknowledges that the christians have always understood that this is referring to Jesus. And Jesus is clearly is referred to in this verses as a prophet. SubhanAllah. May the Almighty guide us to the straight path and may He unite the believers.
This verse has nothing to do with Jesus peace be upon him as Jesus was nothing like the Prophet Moses peace be upon him. There is non resemblance in their lives and what happened.
The reverend quoted “all scripture is God breathed”. This quote only refers to the Jewish scriptures not the Gospels!
“At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Who is christ not how do we know he is the christ 🙄 still nice to know the arguments they use
