I’m with you. This looks like such a painful way to trade and with essentially no risk management. The first trade goes -$620 at one point, he gets out at break even, and then the trade goes his way for +$300 while he sits on the sideline. “You don’t want to panic out.” Which is exactly what he did to go breakeven and admits it by saying “had I would have held I would have been fine.”
