This episode is one of my favorites. It started with Gilbert and real bees and Ms. Stacy teaching about the real Birds and Bees, then the girls exploring romantic relationships, getting curious about conceiving and the "birds and the bees" to celebration of womanhood, and ending it off with an actual birth (Belle) I'm so fascinated with how cohesive they wrote this. Oh and that dance practice scene made my heart stop 🥹
Did you notice in the dance scene that where Anne was placed in the beginning she would not have danced with Gilbert? She would only face him as his opposite in the line. Which is why Gilbert snatched her over to his side so that they could dance together during the reel (the in-and-out swaying part of the dance?). Then at the end he let go of her hand again sending her back to her original position so they would be facing each other in the end. At least two other people had to automatically change positions to get the line right once he snatched her over the first time. He wanted to dance with her specifically. He made sure that she was his partner in both sections of the dance. Watch closely when Rachel gives the instructions of the dance and when they (Gilbert and Anne) actually do the dance to notice the difference.
Love how Bryce is like "man up Moody" and then sees how bad his injury is and immediately is like "OMG" 😂 Yeah that gash looked absolutely horrendous. I see why Ruby fainted.
21:35 I always felt this was a nice follow up to when they lost their money to the conmen. Eliza wanted them to be partners and be included in financial decision making. She made a business suggestion, he liked it and agreed to it.
I'm pretty sure that they're celebrating Beltane in that last scene which is the time between spring and summer. Most pagan and folk witchcraft was centered around seasons and harvests which makes sense why we're seeing scenes of Bash working the land and the mare giving birth. It makes sense that a farming town would celebrate seasonal festivities. It also coincides with Anne's Scottish heritage. Paganism refers to many spiritual/cultural practices in Europe before Roman Catholicism was widely adopted. Scotland has Cetlic roots. There's nothing creepy about this or witchcraft, it just gets taken out of context in horror movies the same as some mental illnesses.
also in this episode Diana just gave Anne a book on Scottish culture, which likely had information on Beltane and inspired Anne to recreate this ritual with her friends
That whole dance sequence with Anne and Gilbert was beautiful! And it was one of my favorite scenes in the whole series. Its when they finally see each other in a romantic way imo.
This is just speculation, but I think Jerry's family is Catholic (since they're French) and Diana's family would be Protestant. So that was pretty taboo back then. On top of their class differences.
Such an awesome episode (minus Rachel being an insensitive jerk)! Gilbert learning about natural medicine, the dance between Gilbert and Anne, Ruby's attentions shifting, Jerry and Diana, the girls' confusion, it's all just so cute and funny! And then to end with the beautiful tribute to Mary, woman power, and a new baby pony. Perfection.
Rob loving jerry and Diana relationship is so like me I think there the cutest mainly because Gilbert and Anne just don’t have many good scenes together
I think Jerry & Diana are so adorable. Thank you guys so much for reacting to this show. It really fed my soul. I was honestly heartbroken they stopped making it to the point I couldn’t go back and watch it again. It’s a joy to relive it and enjoy with you guys. It is an incredible show that doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves.
Outlander is absolutely AMAZING, apart from the sexual violence. They've watched stuff like "Promising Young Woman" though, so there's a chance they'd enjoy it anyways. I'd definitely watch them watch it!
I'm a gay man and I looooove witches and spells growing up. I almost went to the valley near our house at night to perform a "real spell" I got from the internet back in the early 2000s. lmao. hahahaha. I wasn't able to pursue it, but I guess it really is a feminine urge to do witch things. xD
i will say them dancing around a fire late at night and saying out loud how powerful they are does look a bit suspicious 😂 like in season two when Marilla talks to matthew about anne (when she was curious about kissing) saying she sometimes thinks shes possessed calling her 14 birthday a solemn occasion
Back in those times. It was a lot like how a Man thought women couldn't do certain things, well it went the same way with women who thought men can't be single parents on their own. So, when she talked to bash, she was stating a new wife is forced to come into a home or the child is put up for adoption if the father couldn't raise the child. And back then women didn't believe a man could do this alone.
I just realized red dead redemption 2 takes place the same time as this show I always thought they were a couple years apart but no it’s the same year 1899 lmao

I think it would be great and a lot of fun to watch the originals with you guys!!!
The feminine urge to dance in the woods around a bonfire under the full moon 💅
Exactly! They were affirming their power and I loved it! We should do it more often.😊
My dumbass would step on a big stick
This.
Gotta give some mad respect to the actress who plays Josie pye. A few years ago she was literally battling breast cancer at 19. She is a fighter
Many iconic moments in this episode:
- The dance routine
- Diana and Jerry
-"how i love being a woman"
I'm so glad someone else noticed the way Gilbert delivers his lines 😂

Definitely! Jerry says they are Catholic in the episode where Nate tries to get him to drink.

“Gilby told Winifred come through whenever you want” 💀😂
Diana and Jerry were so cute ❤
You guys should watch Outlander! It’s FULL of history and great story lines! Seriously an amazing series!
Yeees they need to watch outlander
It has several painful scenes to watch, but overall it's a good and interesting story.

every preteen girl has at least one memory of getting together with all her girl friends to do a witchy ritual. lol

i mean he couldn''t and him writing his mom was the better alternative to remarry that fast
@@19Rena96 I'm not agreeing with it. I was just answering why this was such a big deal back then.
one of my favorite episodes 🫶
15:01 ahh the slow mow
i really hope you guys watch the 80s anne of green gables movie, they’re so good!!!
Yes, that one is amazing!!!
I would love that too! I have a feeling that the Sullivan company has it under lock and key. They seem really tight about copyright, unfortunately.

Been waiting for next episode...
I’m so early. Love watching this with you guys
Why do you deleted the part when Ruby says “How I love being a woman”? 😭
Good luck charlie😂
Why does your Gilbert impression sound like a stereotypical surfer dude? 😂
I love this episode

Hmmm, and future Anne with her "futsal team" watching this...👀
no really WHY does Gilbert's actor talk like that, and don't even get me started on the chronic eye-brow raising
please react to monsters: The lyle and erik menendez story
im obssesed with it 😭😔
24-7 smolder
I always get annoyed by the acting of the guy who plays Gilbert, those line delivers and faces r so bad
why it’s so much about mary in this show.. i like her, but she never was a main caracter
because she died, so it's obvious they needed to go through this mourning phase
@@ylloww it feels like they are closing the arch, but then in the next episode it starts again. maybe it’s just too sad for me idk
It's more about how her death affects the main characters than about Mary herself.
