    Absolutely great episode and being 70 years old thank you for being such a great Hollywood historian I mean very few people your age would even know that show existed it was one of my favorites.As a matter of fact I went to Dino’s when I was a kid with my mom and took a picture sitting where Kookie sat Waiting to park cars.Great show great memoriesAnd as I saw this video late on this day I discovered it ,Kookie passed away.

    You are such a wonderful old soul for being so young! I loved 77 Sunset Strip, Cookie was one of my first loves. Keep up the great work. Give Jah a big love for me.

    I have been watching reruns of '77 Sunset Strip' lately on ME-TV, so I especially enjoyed this vlog. I never saw the show originally, was only a little kid when it was first run. Never realized how cool "Kooky" Edd Byrnes was, and that the Connie Stevens song came from this show! Thank you Jordan!

    There is a nice shot of Dino's and the Tiffany theater (that was next door on the West side of Dino's) in the film "Point Blank" (1967), about a quarter in from the start of the film.

    Really nice vlog! I barely remember 77 Sunset Strip but do remember seeing the actors in other shows over the years.

    Shame the building isn't there anymore. But got to make way for the ugly high rises. It'll be cool if you do get the book. And looking forward to seeing the extra film.

    Fun Fact: Before 77 SS, Edd Byrnes shared an acting class with Michael Landon and Jack Nicholson.

    I was 9 years old and loved this show. Roger Smith, in my little girl eyes, was one of the handsomest men I had ever seen. Glad he and Ann Margret had a long happy marriage.

    Jordan, 77 Sunset Strip had several silent film stars on the weekly program. Francis X Bushman was one of them in the Norma Desmond episode.

    new sub. lived in LA (Long Beach) for a year two years ago and miss it, tried to hit up many of these filming locations/landmarks as possible but man you see it all! some of my favorites were the Resorvior Dogs coffe shop in Eagle Rock and the Halloween (1978) filming locations in Pasadena!

    Thanks for the 77 Sunset Strip vlog - had a mad crush on Roger Smith, back in the day and loved the show. Not to be picky, but it's actually "Kookie" not "Cookie." I have a couple of albums of old novelty recordings - not to mention being older than dirt and remembering when the original was a big hit - and it's "Kookie, Kookie Lend Me Your Comb." Actually, one of the nostalgia networks is still showing "77 Sunset Strip", but the episodes they're showing seem to be the last season or seasons, when the Kookie character was "promoted" to being one of the detectives and an actor named Robert Logan took over as the parking lot attendant. Anyway, thanks for the memories. :-)

      Not in the slightest. Sorry if it came across that way - I love everything you do and how you do it. I meant only to point out the discrepancy in spelling. An English major thing. Deepest apologies for any misunderstanding, due to my not making myself clear.

    Great job looking up locations. Love this!
    Roger Smith did quite a few movies and tv series prior to this. Amoung others, Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell - released the same year as 77 Sunset Strip.
    He and Ann-Margret were married for 50 years up until his death.

  • @AnnMargretFan
    @AnnMargretFan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Actor / producer / writer / singer Roger Smith was married to actress & entertainer Ann-Margret for 50 years and 3 weeks. His work included co-starring with Rosalind Russell in "Auntie Mame" (1958), before starring as Jeff Spencer in the series "77 Sunset Strip". Roger also starred in the TV series "Mr. Roberts" in 1965, then following his retirement from performing, he managed his wife's career and produced her popular Las Vegas & Lake Tahoe stage shows. In the 1970's and early 80's, Ann-Margret was the highest paid female performer in Las Vegas ~ both she & Elvis entertained at the International Hotel, which later became the Las Vegas Hilton. Roger was also a nightclub performer himself, and recorded several albums, including the LP "Beach Romance". th-cam.com/video/Vqjg7QY_ygU/w-d-xo.html

    Connie Stevens played a character called “Chricket. “ on 77 sunset strip.

    • @pascoecharlie
      @pascoecharlie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Connie Stevens did play the part of Cricket Blake in Hawaii Eye (1959-1963). The reason she did appear in 77 Sunset Strip was because 77 Sunset Strip were Crossovers in some episodes as so were Bourbon Street Beat, and Surfside 6.

    • @pascoecharlie

      That should be Hawaiian Eye, and not Hawaii Eye.
