There are a lot of pretenders on youtube giving fishing information, but Randy is straight up the real deal. He is the uncle everyone who fishes wishes they had. Wow!!! What a wealth of knowledge from one of bass fishings best. Thank you so much for all your knowledge and information Randy. Keep the videos coming!!! Love em!!!
Man I appreciate that. Real experience comes from decades of sacrifice, pain, joy, heartbreak and triumphs. More than most will know. Thanks for watching!
Great video Randy as always !!! . I live here on Ft.Loudoun/Tellico . The flatsides do really well on Cherokee and Douglas as well . Norris lake is known for being tough and I will catch em good on a Berkley Frittside up there in January . Here in the late fall , guides on Ft.Loudoun will lock down to Watts Barr and throw a flat next to bluffs in the same spots that you would normally throw a scrounger head for suspended fish - as crazy as it sounds . Ive got a old Jenko flat that does real well in 50° water with about 2-3 ft of visibility. Keep up the great work good Sir . Your hard work doesn't go unnoticed ...
I really like to throw Spro little john md, very underated crank. I do well on it all year really and it's definitely flat design. 6th Sense flat 75 is great for a larger profile... I personally think flat cranks catch fish all year cause everyone else is throwing big wobbly baits...
I have used a bait like that in 70° plus water in June. I caught 6.25 & a 7# 4oz Bass, the same day. My retrieve was a Twitch Stop Twitch action. I was Keeping the Bait in the Strike Zone longer. THANK YOU Randy for sharing your Experience with the Viewers. I'm a Subscriber & that is why I Watch your Channel. (I Learn). 👈 Cudos Brother. 👍👍
Some of the best custom flat sided crank baits still come from East Tennessee. I love to visit the local (Knoxville, TN) fishing shows and check out the work that is shown. Truly an art form.
Randy, in reference to the water temps for a flatside crankbait, is that steadfast in areas where the water doesn't get as cold. I'll be fishing the Cooper River next weekend. I'm hearing the water is muddy close to the Lake Moultrie Dam, so probably stained farther down the river where I'll be fishing. Water temps are running 49-51 degrees. That's about as cold as we get around here. I don't have many options for rip rap on the river. The one area that will offer rap rap is in a culvert, so the water temp there will be in the 60s. Does that eliminate the flat sided crankbait in that area? So many variables in bass fishing! Lol!
Really appreciate your videos and analysis...sometime I would like to hear more details on very shallow target fisihing like (a) how do you know a fish is really there? (b) when do you give up on that target? Etc
Love these TH-cam videos from the pros. But all they gonna do is push whatever company they're sponsored by, so take what they're saying with a grain of salt (when it comes to which bait is their favorite).
I believe the red flat side is a PH Custom lures Skinny P. Matt Herren is affiliated with PH and has a balsa flat side called Matt Herrens Fudd. Also has a 2.0 squarebill that PH Custom makes. PHCustom has several great flat side balsa baits.
Any times you throw the flat sides around wood? Or do they not do as well in wood even if they have the square bill? I have been buying more balsa and flatmates lately. Now I just need to throw them. Perfect time here in central OK over the next week or 2.
Randy, you mentioned in one of your videos that you have caught a million fish on one of the jewel jigs. I can’t figure out which video it was. Can you help me?

No way Randy could mention PH custom bait his friend throws...mega bass would throw a fit. So somehow he just doesn't know who makes it??? Haha
That red crank looks like a Lazer lz1 in bad mo color
What about the megabass flap slap? Do you like it in cold water?
Excellent

Having made and fished flatsides for many years, if you are not fishing flatsides in the fall you're missing a great time for them.
Good info
Thats an LZ1 in Bad Mo color
One of the best flats made!
When you talk water temp it’s relative to your area right? You say 53 but in Texas could it be 55 or for a low you say 42 in Texas could it be 48??
Randy, you mentioned in one of your videos that you have caught a million fish on one of the jewel jigs. I can’t figure out which video it was. Can you help me?
