3:19 One could ascertain the actual FPS of a camera by running sample film through it and making a digital audio recording of the noise for several seconds. That recording can be examined in audio editing apps like (free) Audacity. The cycle of the camera mechanism will be visually obvious and the number of cycles per second can be counted.
Another way to check is to find a strobing app for iPhone and set it at 16hz, 24hz, 32hz etc and go in a dark room. Adjust speed until the gears stop moving!
Could you guys start making cool stuff like this in S8? I wanna hack together some vintage cartridges with gaffers tape and this beautiful film would be so neat to shoot at 200 hehe
Isn't X-ray film generally a rather fragile emulsion as well- and maybe not the best for running at speed through a film gate? Kudos to you guys for bringing such a wide diversity of films to the double8 and double perf 16mm film worlds. I know it isn't easy! Thanks for feeding the crazies of the film world. Even if maybe it shouldn't be done, why not try it?!
I think I am going to try stand development with rodinol or hc110. Am I dumb to try this?
