As a Young Somali Teacher, I have nothing but respect for what you have done here. If you guy are serious about a school tour, I’d love for you to come to mine in West London.
As a teacher, we definitely need more Youth centers and mentors, but also more trips for these kids to show them that there’s more to life than the ends. I would love to connect and not only try bring you to my school but to have more convos about the youth.

I’ve always been frustrated by how the media and the middle and upper classes focus on youth violence as the primary issue, ignoring the underlying societal conditions.
The reality is that previous generations have created a society where 12 to 16-year-olds now are economically forced to steal to support themselves and their families.
I am also frustrated by the fact that by doing nothing today to actively help people, we continue to perpetuate this status quo.
I’m so glad Mr Elba is doing this work.
So cool that Mr Barrientos and Mr Mohamed did this collab.

Love love love this! As a mum it's my biggest fear that one day my son will leave my front door n not return. We have a fantastic organisation in my city run by a guy I actually went to college with called Always an Alternative, he raised money for weapons bins in our city, goes in to schools to speak to kids about knife crime, wrote a book for kids, runs youth clubs n is currently raising money for a mobile youth centre he wants to do (renovating a small mini bus type thing so he can go round to different places). There are thankfully ppl like him who care so deeply and god bless them. We need mentors, we need youth clubs we need change!! God help our boys coz this world is a mess.

A shout from across the pond...hoods everywhere have the same issues. Weapons of choice are different, accents are different, but the issues are the same. Young folks need proper lessons. One upstanding man meeting with 10 youths on the regular. Another, and another, more and more and so on. The government isn't interested. They have a system to keep beds and cells occupied, not to keep them empty. Grass roots meets asphalt and concrete. Groups of youths with true guidance, accountability and a place to air grievances and decompress. The hood should take care of the hood. Then branch out and build it up. Teach the youth how to give to their own community. Like a clean up for example. A sandwich drive for the elderly. ETC... Peace ya'll.

      So true & Well put!
As an American also I often feel discouraged about the state of our gun law policies. At times I wonder if any real change will take form. We must certainly push for that though & support the work of those who are on the frontlines of this issue (i.e., EveryTown). It’s encouraging to see Idris, Chunkz and Filly seek to address an issue of similar importance and magnitude within their own country also.
      Thanks for your comment. 😊

Coming from someone who’s just lost a life long friend to knife crime I find this EP so important , help kids from the start get them off the streets show them that knives aren’t the way and that there are so many different ways to “ squash beef “ other than taking someone’s life … idris has no idea the impact he’s making and with you 2 along side him too could make a whole new level of difference ❤️

Idris is right when I look at Black British movie that highlight this I'm so detached from it as being realistic, i know that this happens but when I'm watching a movie it's escape to me especially when I'm watching a foreign movie.
Also since I'm from the suburbs so I'm even more removed from this so thanks again for talking about this with Idris.

This interview has made an impact here in the US. It's helping people understand it's not about the tool, but the act. We need to focus on the causes of crime, poverty, drugs, lack of education, and lack of opportunity. And what Elba said about his goal of banning, THAT is the reason the US 2A community refuses to give an inch. 17:00 and on explains it all. deterrence, funding opportunities.
