Bel Powley is a terrific actress. She deserves more credit for her performances.
For real. I have watched A Small Light six times. She’s fantastic in this role as Miep who hid the Franks in WWII

Ironically the protagonist of that movie was looking to get into journalism. So maybe this is the sequel, suggesting she isn’t safe anywhere, and history is repeating itself 😂

Hate when they leave out the release date, imdb has it coming to an undisclosed streaming service on 1/26/24. Bel Powley makes this a must watch, she's a hell of an actress that always puts on an effective & believable performance

@@pianopeterr Not on my youtube, I don't have the "more" option, video descriptions or channel links on anything. I've searched for a solution up & down the internet & came up with nothing, had features disappear & come back before but this is the worst it's ever been & no sign of repair, logging out of yt account for a reset is useless. From my experience studios have been leaving the date off the trailers for a while, usually research on imdb anyway if something looks interesting & should be on the calendar & the release time might turn up there.

@@magicknight13 She's had so many great roles in memorable movies, & fantastic parts in series like A Small Light & Masters Of The Air, but this one is a bust. Just a really bad story with no redeeming qualities, a plot like swiss cheese & terrible editing & writing. Not even her considerable talents can save this disaster, although she does what she can & there's some empathy for her character, but it's through a haze of trash that obscures everything including Bel's acting. Sorry I watched this & it will be forgotten.
Let me suggest the movie "Nightcrawler" with Jake Gyllenhaal if interested in stories about journalism, the ethics, and determination to succeed in the field.
lol nightcrawler has zero ethics. This woman at least looks conflicted.
I'm guessing she exposes the teacher at the end for sexual misconduct, but the teacher is semi proud of her for "doing what needs to be done" for a good story

Until textual mention of her name, I legit thought the young woman protagonist was played by Sydney Sweeney and was pleased she did a thing where she was deglamourized and unsexy.

This feels like someone just stole my life. I felt like I was watching my story. This exact thing happened to me. Wow. Unreal. I guess if you change the names you can steal someone's story. Anyway, who would watch a movie with a character named Becky Doesiit?
Seems like Whiplash but for journalism, if you equate journalistic integrity here to the "drum practice" in the other movie.
Journalism in America is really bad I see. Here in New Zealand, those things would be off the table. Thank God I chose the best place for my career and mental health. Here journalism is FOR the people, not against them. But hey, if America says so, it must be the only truth, musn't it?

We all already know that journalists work (that is, lie) for the government, so a movie that tries to make it look otherwise seems a little bit boring. At least it has Jacob Tremblay. I'll give a try.
