@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones Great stuff Andy👍 Hopefully it has a dvi connection. I heard that some people had reported damage to their FT-DX10’s whilst using a dvi to hdmi converter. Better off using a dvi only monitor with the correct cable. I’d say that both radios would be similar in that respect.
I just purchased one back in June and I love this radio, I am so glad I didn't buy the Icom 7300. This 710 is so easy to operate don't even need the Manuel . I wish Yaesu would make the 991A like this 710. I need an all mode all band radio 991A but I don't like the 991a display. I had another ham operator who checked my 710 out and he said it sounded good clearer receive audio than his 7300.
Great overview. Sure beats reading a manual, though it is a necessary evil with something as complex as this. Just bought one from R&L here in the Colonies. Looking forward to using it by Wednesday or Thursday next week.
Great video thank you for this, as a first time buyer if I buy this radio what else do I need to purchase ? My intention is to have antenna outside on the house somewhere.
yes im thinking of getting one but i already have two radios how much did you pay from martins L if you want the speaker aswell and do you pay post aswell or is that free
I see many reviews of the FT 991A versus the ICOM 7300. Unfortunately it is a case of apples 🍎 and oranges 🍊. The people that buy the FT 991A pay a premium to get excellent performance on 50 MHz, 144 MHz and 432 MHz Bands. The ICOM 7300 is an excellent entry-level HF radio and the FT 991a is for vhf/uhf and microwave transverter users and you pay almost double the price. Many of my friends own both.
Is it possible to do a long comprehensive overview on the RF control? You just turned up and down at super fast speed . Can you adjust the noise with the RF on a noisy band like your 991a ? A side by side comparison on top band fine adjustments on the rf control is what sorts out the wheat from the chaff? My ic 7300 is a good all round rig , except for the rf control which is a simple att and is pathetic, yes my ic 7300 rf control is junk . So if it's possible to give us an insight to the working of the rf control on noisy low bands that would be Great . Tks .
@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones Thanks for the link . Only you never did any adjustments on the RF control? The RF control should be the very first 'go to ' before any of that digital width shift filters? Nothing but nothing will substitute a good working RF control to raise the noise floor on low bands with high noise and low sig .but thanks anyway I'll keep looking to see if i can find a video with this rig and a RF control demonstration. Tks
I have the FTDX10 and love it for my shack. I have the 891 for portable. I was thinking about getting a 991A for portable because it does HF and VHF/UHF. I would like to try 2ssb but I also have an 818 and never use it on VHF. The 710 looks awesome though and the menus are set up like the DX10 which is a plus.
to tune you on the 710 you need to have a good match already its like a top up tuner i use an external on with the ftdx10, but if the swr is to far out it wont tune. Best use an eternal tuner
Hola buenas.. Mira una pregunta por favor, tu cual de estás dos radio me recomiendas a comprar 710 or 991a? Tu cual comprarías? Muchas gracias, un saludo cordial desde Barcelona. Gabriel
I got the Yaesu FT 710 in the end, great set for the money, although I have found a problem, unless its me being thick.........40 Meters allows me to transmit between 7000MHz to 7300MHz, If I want to key up above 7200MHz the Busy / TX light flashes, just wondering if you have come across this ?
Toying with they idea of getting a second radio as my yaesu ft 840 is getting on,never get shut of it though, is the dx 10 worth 480 quid more than the 710,you got a great channel by the way all the best 👍
It might be worth it if you need direct front-panel access to notch, contour, shift, etc. Otherwise, I prefer the sound that the 710 makes. More fun to operate too.
I want a version without the $200.00 external speaker stuff added on. All that did was bump the price up for no good reason. I have far better external speakers I use. This radio could be priced under $1000.00 (U.S.) without that added hardware. The 7300 Icom wouldn't stand a chance. :-)
dont know about the menu's i was going to buy one for the truck but after seeing how big it is to the 991. I'll keep the 7300 on the dash. @@forgetyourlife
This is one lovely radio. I got one for myself and it is so much more convenient than my venerable Kenwood 480SAT
Fantastic set .
Amazing radio. Thanks for all the very informative videos you’ve posted for it. Can’t wait to get mine 😊
Hi Alan I am.so happy with my one I got a used external monitor.

Heavenly mate it would make Bond James Bond giddy.
Yes agree
I like that they put the volume knob in the lower right hand corner on the 710….I wish the DX 10 was the same way
Both amazing sets.
Agreed.
Wow that radio looks amazing and the people on there talking sound amazing on the standard speaker to me. I want one gotta start savingthe pennies
Yes worth it .
Nice summary! I've had the FTdx-10 and still have the FT-891 but my sights are on the -710. Cheers
Thanks its very similar to having a dx10.
Sounds awesome
Thanks Chris its really good.
Sound brilliant
Such Fun
Wow that's impressive indeed
Thanks yes both good sets .

You will be very happy
7:22. I don’t know. I appreciate your honesty! Most YT hosts try to appear as if they know everything about their radios.
Thanks its me learning with u -73
Miss Money Penny "James your Yaesu 710 is ready."
Lol
Great video thank you for this, as a first time buyer if I buy this radio what else do I need to purchase ? My intention is to have antenna outside on the house somewhere.
If you get 991 you need a Long wire with a balun and a VHf Uhf colinear
@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones Im buying this 710...not sure what a 991 one is , is that another model ?
Its the radio in the Video it has vhf uhf asell - The 710 is a dedicated HF like the ICOM 7300
yes im thinking of getting one but i already have two radios how much did you pay from martins L if you want the speaker aswell and do you pay post aswell or is that free
About £1100 yes I had a.speaker
WOW ! How would you compare the Yaesu FT-710 with the ICOM 7300
Very hard to choose but the 710 external display wins .
Io possiedo FT710 , il Display graficamente non e' all'altezza del 7300 e' migliore nel modo piu' assoluto.
Which do you prefer the icon 7300 or Yaesu ft710 if you could only have one?
Very hard choice both excellent but if you want external monitor it's 710
So how did you get on setting Mic Gain and the Proc, the meter swings all over the place.
Best to have settings that work for u.

Yes agree , the reason they are compared is the price is so close buyers are torn between shack in Box or dedicated HF.

Both
Hi Andreas is the 710 better on receive than the 991A especially on noisy band like 80m at night
Hi Carrie agree it's really good at cleaning up the band .
Ok my friend which would you chose ftdx710 or ftdz10? KI5CDQ hard to choose
I think the DX10 is the better radio it does cost more to buy new.
@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones yes my thoughts and more filters and the DNR seems to perform better less watery.Thats my next wish. Thanks for your vids👍

Love the FT710 Radio Great Shame its not all bands..
Wonder if they ever replace the 991
If nothing happens when you press the tune button, the antenna is already a good match.
Thanks
The 991A looks much nicer with its backlit keys. Why did they not keep using it in newer models??
The 991a is so good
Cost
