It is people like you that makes me love TH-cam. Great video and very well thought out. I’m not a mechanic at all but I could do this thanks to you. You saved the day!!
Very detailed explanation. Excellent technical video. I'm a 65 yo gearhead and your video is right on the money. Nice presentation, too. Thank you, sir.
Great job on the demonstration. Seeing the parts separately really helps explain and makes it easier to understand what goes where. I’ll probably be doing this next month or so as preventative. No problems now but I’d rather do this when I’m ready instead of when there is a problem that needs immediate attention. I’ll definitely be watching again when I get there. Also great idea to swap coils as a test. Cheers.
I'm getting ready to replace all my coil packs and plugs on my 2009 Edge. I just bought this car 6 months ago and right now it has 145K on the clock. I'm a courier and I put 2,000/month on this car. I've been getting little jerks and hesitations at various speeds and they are intermittent. I've not put on a code reader. Given the mileage I'm going with my gut on this one and just doing it as at this mileage point it wouldn't hurt to do it anyway. I do pretty much all my own wond on all my cars but I always go to TH-cam when performing a task on a vehicle for the first time. Your presentation is well thought out, delivery is nicely done and comprehensive on every aspect of the task so I give you top thumbs and you, my friend, have earned another subscriber. Thank you!
That's why I don't go to stealer ships anymore. It's an easy DIY project, just take your time, I replaced mine plugs yesterday & took 5hrs, I took plenty of breaks and used 3 cans of carb cleaner on the intake, don't forget di-electric grease and anti-seize on the threads
I am getting ready to buy a 2011 Edge from my uncle and it is due for a tune up. I have not bought the car yet, but I am glad I watched your video. You do a great job at explaining and detailed about how easy it really is. Thanks for posting this.
Just finished the job. I only needed to replace the middle one in the back but I went ahead and replaced all 6 ignition coils and spark plugs so I wont have to bother with it again any time soon. It was only $75 on amazon for everything. Thanks for the video bro, u saved me a lot of money🙏
I'm glad it work and I appreciate you for letting me know. Thanks for watching and you have a good day. The fact that you told me is more than the average person does I appreciate it.
This is an excellent video. I have had several vehicles that all seem to have ignition coil issues. For those who are inexperienced diagnosing issues, it feels like your call is literally dying. But its a minor issue. Unfortunately its getting harder and harder to get to the coil packs. Thank you for explaining/showing how easy this can be to do it yourself. Also one other comment, it looks like this is a Ford Edge w/3.5L engine as opposed to the 3.7L. After looking under my hood the components all look the same.
Bro, your description of the necessary details was spot on!! Thank you! I watched about 5-6 other vids before I found yours and this one was the most helpful of all. 🙏
Thanks for the video, very helpful! The first video I watched over explained everything and still got stuck at the end and couldn't finish video due to not knowing what to do next, and the second video I watched dude worked through it without explaining anything! Also noticed he took a lil more off then necessary, so again thanks for the video, exactly what I was looking for.
This video was very informative and very helpful I just recently purchased a 2011 edge with the same engine and I have been contemplating whether or not to do the spark plug change myself thanks so much for this video it's been a great help
Great job! Thanks. Check engine came in blinking. Auto zone reader said ignition #6 issue. Your video was perfect. I replaced the coil and disconnected the battery. No light. Runs well. Thanks.
@@oxmanagain It went well. I actually have a 2008 and I already have a K&N cold air induction, so I did not have to take off the airbox. But it was similar enough that I knew exactly what needed to be done from your video. The big thing is that I never would have found that bolt under the throttle body (big thank you). I used your safety tip and covered the intake openings with a towel. I have also heard that the back ignition coils can fail sooner than the front because of the heat they are exposed to so I moved the front ones to the back and back to front. Thanks again.
Thank you for a clean explanation on how to put back the intake manifold back on and seeing were the last 3 coils are like wow it's a project to get to that point but thanks man.
Excellent job! I went to a shop just yesterday and decided to check whether this is something I could’ve done myself. Looks like I can! And I will. Rock on and thanks for sharing!
Well produced. Used real wrenches ( pro videos use power tools...hate that). Excellent..lay person understandable. He makes it look totally feasible for the back yard mechanic. Excellent editing.
Good video, but you forgot to secure the coil lock tabs on coils 5 and 6, just saying. I just got done doing the dreadful water pump replacement on my Explorer Sport 3.5 (Ecoboost) and now my daughter Edge needs a rear bank coil. This intake is much easier to remove; thanks for making this video.
Make sure you torque to factory specs. Intake manifold bolts are 89 inch pounds and there is s specific sequence to tightening them to guarantee the manifold does not warp. Even the spark plugs have a torque spec. I believe it is 11 ft pounds. You can find the specs/sequence online.
That is the reason I made videos. I like to save people money and show people that they can do the work themselves. Thanks for watching and hope it works out for you.
thanks for the video , going to do the same thing this week only difference is I'm not putting back the rubber covers . I find them pointless , if anything its blocking the heat from escaping
So you pointed out the ignition coils 12345 and 6 but my reading came back EC and F, is it safe to say that would be 35 and 6? I plan on replacing them all I was just curious
To some extence yes, but mainly I like the fact that you really make good educational videos for people that do not know much about cars. Keep on making what u do! :D
Thanks for the Video excellant video very well done gives mee the confidence to wont to do my own ,im Happy you saved your sister some Money as well. Great Job!
I need your assistance on some of the same issues in my Ford edge 2011 sport is doing. It’s also running with hesitation taking off at stop sign stop light go on up and down hills have no power. I had the spark plugs and a coil or two changed I’m not sure what and which one they actually did but I too would like to perform the same procedure you just did here. The only issue I have is not knowing the correct spark plugs to change out I did go onto Amazon and found the right coils that I needed. But I also have no engine light coming on so it’s kind of tricky because we thought it might’ve been a throttle issue. But I’ve had a throttle cleaned out and worked real good for about a couple days and then it started back up with the same thing. Is it anyway you can get back in contact To help me with this issue thank you.
I have a question. I attempted to take the spark plugs out and I managed to get the #4 out in front but on #5 and #6 I couldn't get it to break, even with a breaker bar. I'm worried about breaking the spark plug in half. Any suggestions to help get it loosened??
@@oxmanagainI also wanted to let you know that I've watched many videos looking to find help on how to do this and I believe you to be the most thorough and accurate one. You're very good at explaining, showing exactly where everything is and taking your time at it. I'm a new follower now! I've been working on my own car since I was 15 but the last time I've had to pull anything apart was when it still had a distributor cap LOL so this is new to me. Looks pretty simple though. Thanks for the video

Very good video. At 71 years old, I plan to tune-up my 2014 Edge next month. Thank you!
Thanks to your video I was able to change my spark plugs and coils on my own. Local shop wanted $1,700. Only cost about $140 in parts to do on my own.
