The Most Important Step in Building a Bass Boat

  • This year I'm documenting the entire boat build process of my Falcon 205. Each time I've taken my boat to the water I've found something else I liked about it more and more with each visit to the lake. The process of building a fiberglass boat is fascinating that I wanted to share the event with you here. Since the build is about a 1 week long process I'll split the vlog in to several videos highlighting a different aspect of the boat each time. I hope you find it valuable for your boat search!

    You have opened my eyes to these Falcon boats. I have watched many different boat build videos. I have even seen first hand a few salt water boat builds. I started working with fiberglass around the age of 12 working on surf boards and boats. Move on to using fiberglass and other composites on Naval aircraft while in the Navy.
    I really like the way the stringers are designed. Being the transom and stringers are full composite without the use of wood means you don't need to worry about replacing rotten wood down the road. Needless to say I would like to own one of these!

    I love watching boat builds. I worked at MasterCraft and Yamaha for few years and I always enjoy seeing how other companies do it. I don't do that kind of work anymore but I still enjoy watching it. Great VID BLat. Keep em coming!

    • @chuckyd317

      I was thinking the same thing! Metal crow bar on fiberglass made me cringe..

    • @jopa6691
      @jopa6691 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No need to worry where the Crowbar actually touches . yea some scratches will barely be visible or feelable bur what the metal flakes in the black help do is .help to not be able to really see scratches well and also the scratches will be so small that bar when they take a buffing wheel the entire bottom part of the boat for the Finish process they will be absolutely gone

    This is a really interesting series. Thank you for making it. It would be nice if the builders left Poly Pull String inside of either side of the hull before the top is bonded to the bottom to alleviate the frustration and cursing should anyone desire to wire in some new components in the future. They could just utilize the string and then use another length to put it back into the original location for the next time. Adding wiring and switch options in the storage lockers for a passive alarm system would be nice too. Those lockers are storing a lot of expensive items.

    • @leesire
      @leesire 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scooby Doo how the heck do you run wires through the boat. I bet it’s much easier this way.

  • @chrism2042
    @chrism2042 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just purchased a new 24' CC bay boat with hard T-top, luckily the manufacture has chases built in with pull ropes for add-ons. But all boat manufactures should incorporate a empty conduit (large enough for the largest transducer plug) ran from under rear deck to under console, then from under console to front deck.

  • @georgefedor5375
    @georgefedor5375 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I get to make a comment because I have a 215. Wiring is more than adequate. I added my own graphs and had no problems fishing the wiring and transducers from stern to bow. I even added some additional power cabling. It is not the best wiring system I have ever seen in a boat but it is much better than a stuffed 2 inch conduit tube that makes it impossible to add wiring. I had a Phoenix before the Falcon and it had the 1500.00 integrated wiring harness that was nice than the stock Falcon system but it was harder to "change" things up if required. The boat is incredibly solid. The only use of chop is that first coat and the rest of my boat seems to be the industry standard coaxial and triaxial sheets. That "chop" layer is great way to get a smooth glass finish right next to the gelcoat without letting an air bubble get under a mat of glass that can lead to a weak spot so I don't mind it being there. A Falcon is a great boat that meets a "price point" and delivers great value and performance at that point. It is not a Hatteras or Buddy Davis Hull but it is not several million dollars either. Love my Falcon...

    • @BrianLatimerFishing
      @BrianLatimerFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      George fedor yes the open gunnels is the way to go! I used to run a boat with conduit and foam and it’s much harder. The funny thing about the chop gun comments is that there’s literally not a boat on the market that doesn’t use a similar glass process. 😂

      Not hard... Just expensive. They have flange molds so would be easy to bag it and infuse. and I wouldn't bother with aluminum skeleton go full carbon.

    Why did you decide to run a F205 compared to a F215? I know that the 205 is rated for the same HP and is slightly faster but for places like Lanier and Okeechobee I'd figure youd want a true 21' boat.
