I think this is a much older machine because it has telescopic backstops, the knee type were introduced in the middle 70s.

I love these old 22’s but never realized the drive sprockets are basically riding in the dirt

Anthony, this 22rb had a dorman engine fitted. Some of the bigger rb cranes have paxman engines in them.

you dont see many of these working nowadays and its a pity it was the first Crawler Crane i learnt to drive, i used it as a crane, dragline, but mainly with a demolition ball attached, in my opinion the the manual crane was more accurate than the air version, the swing on the air version seemed to do what it wanted to do and not what you wanted to do, i also drove, NCK, Smiths, American Hoist, Manitowoc, Linkbelt, those were the days, last 20 years i have been driving Hydraulic crawler Cranes.

Does anyone know what the actual weight of this crane is? Not the lifting weight.

I wouldn't see why you would want air cintrols on a 22. They were easy to operate if you knew how to set the clutches. I'd a lot rather have a manual any time.

That is not a long & wide, it has the standard track base... I am surprised it hasn't got air assistance if it is 1979 model, maybe it was an option. The 22RB had a number of engine variants, including water cooled & air cooled!,

Yes it's a long and wide for sure. It's got 7 rollers in the track frame the standard machine has 6. You can also tell by the drive sprockets.
