I made a terrarium last year. After a couple week, I completely sealed it and noticed that there's a lot more water than I initially put before. After that I completely forgot about it outside for a year and when I look back at it now, it was covered with algae and moss and every plants except for a fern died and there are a lot more water now. So I opened the lid for the first time in a year and began pouring the excess water out, put some more plants, and some pieces of decaying wood full of soil creatures to hopefully restore it. I was still wandering what was causing the excess water.
Here are a few causes I could pondering on: - The transpiration of the plants in your terrarium. - Evaporation of the water in the soil, which could have spoiled the concentration of water across the terrarium and settled in one place, causing the extra fluid. - The air in the terrarium could have been humid(containing lots of moisture), which then settled down and entered the soil in the terrarium. These are assumtions, I cannot assure you that these are certainly the reasons for the extra moisture its just anticipation.
you essentially made water. it's actually a survival tip to put leaves in a container with something see through sealing it that way the heat from the sun makes plants inside condensate it could really save your life in a pinch
I just recently started watch your channel and i’m in love with it. Y’all are such beautiful humans, especially with the Ukraine support. I stand with Ukraine, and plan on donating money to your channel soon! ❤️❤️❤️
he must be living in the part that hasnt been attacked by nazis since 2018 after the US backed regime change. those pesky voters wanted pro russian yanokovich. we cant have that
I used to have an isopod colony, but due to mismanagement on my part the colony died, I plan on getting a species that requires less water so that I can spend less time worrying about the moisture of the container.
Love how you produce videos, it's art! The advice I've seen is to not completely seal in isopods/have at least some ventilation. I've seen quite a few mentions of people that have had isopods die off in sealed terrariums, with assumption of oxygen dipping too low being the issue (since plants use oxygen at night). With right balance, I believe it can work -- particularly with low oxygen/ventilation needed species like dwarfs.
I would recomend you to add some kund of predator to the terrarium so the isopod population is more or less stable. I've seen people doing it with small centipedes that predate on the younger isopods so few of them reach maturity.
I've heard there's issues combing millipedes with some isopods due to isopods eating then while they molt 😵💫 not sure if centipedes would have the same issue thou, and some isopods species are less likely to do that then others to my understanding. I've also seen people mix isopods and millipedes so 🤷♂️ it'll be interesting to see if he does!
You should build a terrarium with bioluminescent plants and bugs, there's a mushroom that glows and a type of worm, fireflies, some type of silk worm, I forget a lot of others but you get my point. Would be pretty cool to see👍
I like this idea, i have a small terrarium inside a pickle jar with some isopods i collected from my garden. But once they start to reproduce im planning on moving them to a bigger terrarium with more plants and im still deciding if i should add a centipede or a beetle to keep the populations stable
Not video creator, but check out building supply stores (like home Depot equivalent), stones tend to be much cheaper there then ones marketed towards terrariums
Would you dare to take them in your hands? :)
First
hell nah
YES!!
What do you feed them
Sure

How about building a coral reef terrarium for the next terrarium build 🤔🤔!?
Юра Юра)))
You are a very good videographer.☺❤
I love terrariums and this made my day
I REMEMBER THIS!!!

Isopods were old then the dinosaurs were the new kids on the block.

It's a woodlouse not an isopod.Isopods live under water and are WAY BIGGER believe me please.
I love your videos! What kind of camera are you using?
Do not seal the terrarium. Isopods need to breathe, they will all die.
I love this series please continue I’m gonna make a terrarium with animals in it can anyone give me any tips?
Still we miss the old voice😶
Yup
Thanks, I love isopods
No charcoal in false bottom, no mesh filter, no springtails,I feel if not cleaned up regularly this terrarium will die off because of mold.
My favourite TH-camr!
Yay! Terrarium!
YAY
those isopods will not live long or breed continuously as there's no calcium source in there for their exoskeleton
amazing video keep it up
if you close it completely how should you water the soil?👍👌🤔😄❤️
Well as you know the water that's already in the terrarium will be evaporating and being recycled over and over again
Where is Stephen?
Where do you get the terariam ❓
Nice video ! What about a Cookie in space episode 3?
I love Cookie I miss Rambo ❤❤❤❤
Greatest chicken in history
the taste of it was wonderful
Very exiting.
Uhh exciting.
👍👍👍❤❤❤
4:37 NO POOR ANT 😞😭😭🐜❤️
DID YOU PUT THE ANT BACK WHERE YOU FOUND IT I WOULD NOT WANT PED IT TO BE ISOLATED FROM ITS COLONY AND…
die alone💔
add a predator for the isopods such as a very small centipede... it should eat the young isopodes
i think i saw a small orange centipede in the video, it may of been an earwig, not sure

Where can I find a enclosure like that
What country do you live
Ukraine
Thanks
When I was in Idaho I put one in a cup and named him rolly
Love it
Cool
Cookie doesn't have a house 😭 need to make cookie a house 😍
Hey slivki show I live in a part of America 🇺🇸 where I don’t have those isopods in the woods so what can I use?
Ants
@@daffafirst8538 ants are not terrarium creatures
They are small and you are unable to reserve them
They be going around killing the terrarium
And remember to make them suffer
wait, im sorry, who tf is afraid of isopods????
cool
1st of all I was born in 2013 and most likely I was not in my dappies when this video was made
0:01 u wana tell me that was 13 years ago?
You need to make holes for air
Build house for cookie a castle. Ps i named my cat cookie cuz your Chanel
This show was so much better with the original guy.
Same guy different voice actor he speaks Ukrainian so he has voice actors translate into English
OLD VOICE ACTORRR BACKKK
WHYYY
I’m not scared of that
in England we call isopods wood lice
I wanna make one but im in the middle of a holy dessert-
What happened to the Stephan constant
wait breathing holes are a thing!
I caught an isopod and accidentally squished it, I felt so ba when I did that
By the way after the woodlice eat the food threat poo and they eat there poo so no need to worry about food for a while
You need some small centipedes so you can control the number of those isopods
are you and achivk called Albert the same person
4:54 there is a scorpion in the frame did any one noticed?
Where?
I had a box that I would keep them in it and in the morning one time they had babies I was like: WTH-
You'll know sladviki slivki ?
pov: you live in a desert with little to no natural moss or plants that would last in a terrarium
You will update ?
where did you buy the little stones for the bottom layer?
Not video creator, but check out building supply stores (like home Depot equivalent), stones tend to be much cheaper there then ones marketed towards terrariums
Sealed fish terrarium please
i want a regular update after sealing completly..
