    I've done about 4 sessions of macro photography over the last month or so, I'm slowly getting into it and having a lot of fun. I've been watching your videos for a while but I decided to take the plunge and buy a macro lens. Your pointers have helped me to skip over the really newbie mistakes I think. I'm producing images closer to the end of what you show here. So I wanted to say thank you for the knowledge, you're a good teacher!

    This is a great thing to do when you feel like you suck and you're not getting better in photography. Going back to your old photos will most certainly reveal to you that your skills have indeed improved over the years. Gives a nice boost in confidence and motivation to carry on! Thank you Micael!

    When you were commenting that photo of ladybug at around 12:50... I feel so identified. Let me tell you this lol
    I was in the farming fields trying to photo stuff, and I see a flower with something weird on it, I tried to focus it but I didn't pay much attention, I thought it was just maybe some dirt because it didn't move. Later at pc I zoom on it and I realize it was a camouflaged spider eating an insect!! Damn, the feeling of having catched this even if the result was blurred was great, but at same time it feels like wasted chance because if I had noticed I would have tried to make a good photo!!
    I take this comment to thank you for your videos, you are being of great help for my macrophotography journey! Still a noob but I hope to take good photo like yours overtime!

    Hi Micael
    Thanks very much for all your videos.
    I have an om-1 and looking to get into macro! should i get the Olympus FL-900R Flash or a Godox VV350.
    The reason why i was thinking of the Olympus is because of the full compatibility and weather proofing in Ireland it rains a lot.
    the Godox maybe smaller. and the remote triggering is a bit better...
    the recycling time for the Olympus Flash is very good
    i can get both at the same price
    What do you think?

    hi really good informative video I'm just getting back into photography (coming from the age of using film) always had a passion for macro though but "back in the day" macro was very difficult and expensive to do properly and having to wait a week!! till your film was developed to see the results. only to find out most of the shots had to be "binned" just made me loose interest so gave up after awhile and concentrated on just general photography.but recently I started to look at the new Olympus range of small micro 4 thirds omd Digital cameras and was blown away by the macro shots that you can achieve just by using one lens the 60mm f2.8 and the image stabilisation in the body of the camera allowes incredible hand held shots at 1.1 and more in super sharp detail can't wait to start using it this summer.

    Interesting journey we take with macro. Thank you for posting this video.
    I did a little test with some people that look at my photos. It was some shots of a Daffodil, I processed the shots to be closer to the expected yellow color and then I duplicated the set of photos with a muted saturation based on a LUT. The ones with the muted tones LUT were the winners. Makes me wonder if people have grown tired of over saturated images. I have a tendency to not use the saturation slider that much.

    but on mirrorless camera how see through evf if we narrow the aperture and increase our shutter speed. screen turns completely black as evf don't show flash adjustment in view finder?

    • @MicaelWidell
      @MicaelWidell  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of them have a setting to increase brightness in the EVF to see better. For example on Sony cameras you use the setting: “Setting effect off” and it will always try to make the EVF bright for you. That was you can still focus with a small aperture.
