We have both 'Uncle Charlie' from My Three Sons and the guy who played Pa Joad in The Grapes of Wrath (he played Hank here.) The young man who played the son was killed in a car accident before they finished this picture. What a great trip to the past this one was!
Great movie, thanks. I liked that Frank, for bring such a mean old man, truly like his animals, not just to use them to win. As for Bright Eyes, I was concerned too, as was another commentor, when the livery burned down, but with the shot of her by the tree at the end, I assume she was not in the barn.
I did not know those early cars ran on kerosene. That cars were cranked up at side, not front. I noticed they had steering on right side but rode on right side of the street. Those early car racers were stripped down cars. really cool movie.
The "talkies" (talking movies) came out the following year, in 1928. It seems this one was still in the era of "silent movies" (which had background sounds and musical scores on separate tracks, by 1927).
As a lover of history and old movies, this was simply sensational.
Barney Oldfield help design the 1917 Miller Golden Submarine race car. Video of the car is here on the Tube 😊
Thanks! silent movies rock 💃💃💃
@@Ourladyrules and you thought Cisco was going to be your last movie before Christmas🍕🍕🍕

Released months before The Jazz Singer, this had one word actually spoken (twice), 'Bob' .
tut tut, the word Go also spoken 😀👍

"bob!"
This was before animals were protected from injury or death.
Shame they left out what became of bright eyes.. burning the stable down was where he kept her.
