These are absolutely beautiful orchestrations! I'm sure A. Gauk was attempting to orchestrate this work as Tchaikovsky would have, and I think he succeeded! It gives me that shimmering Nutcracker and 5th Symphony vibe.
I like this rendition best among various ones both for piano and orchestra, Svetlanov is always as good as himself I like him as wall as Rozhdestvensky, Mravinsky and Kondrasin,
It all sounds like an excellent recording but seems to bear no resemblance to the original piano version of The Seasons op 37b. But it sounds a great and rousing piece in its own right. The orchestra get a great Tchaikovsky sound.
