Beekeeping in Nepal | Documentary | नेपालमा मौरीपालन | वृत्तचित्र

Beekeeping has an old history in Nepal. Besides serving a religious function, it has also been recognized for its medicinal properties and forms an essential part of many home remedies popular across the country. Yet, for all that beekeeping has not taken up by the population at large as a lucrative source of income and apiculture is still largely confined to traditional methods of keeping bees in log hives or harvesting honey from beehives in rock faces. It has proved to be a source of supplementary income for the rural poor. This film documents the importance of bees and beekeeping in Nepal.
