If you are talking about the last episode, No , Doraemon never died. The writer of the manga ,Fujiko Fujio died before he gave an ending to the series. We never really had an end to Doraemon.

Imagine the life of a 10 year old girl(SUMIRE) who is a child actress. As she is famous she is under pressure of many things that she cannot share with anyone. Although she has parents but they live in another country and since she is busy she might neither get time to talk to them nor share her troubles with them. Then one day an alien of human form comes and makes her a superhero to help the needy. The alien even makes three(one boy(MITSUO) of same age, one older boy and one chimpanzee) more superheroes. When the boy starts feelings for her he had to depart to another planet to become skillful PERMAN.
