The SF parents are going Private schools now! The public school teachers are substandard and are teaching woke ideology, not reading, writing and arithmetic!😮

So the rich parents can save their kids and afford private school and afford to virtue signal public school demise.

We have schools here that are LITERALLY wall to wall black history and rainbow posters down every hallway. Plus covid social distancing posters still up.

Don’t feel to bad for them.
The teachers unions fought hard to keep schools shut during covid.
And in 2022 the department of education received 200 billion dollars in funding, and yet public schools have only gotten worse since then.
Parents are looking for an alternative.
And there is nothing the unions can do to stop them.

I own and operate a driving school in SF, and have noticed many student drivers are from private schools in the area. Sad to see such a decline, I went to SFUSD schools K-12 !!

The report failed to mention the growth in private schools. Parents that are concerned about the agenda message public schools give are finding options. There are no changes on the way... Public education is getting worse. The change that needs to happen is with in the course offerings. Schools operate on a 1950's model.

I would LOVE to hear the agenda message that teachers like myself are apparently spreading?? 🤡 my 2nd graders can’t write, can’t recognize half the letters of the alphabet, and don’t know their last names- what makes you think they’re going to understand some “hidden agenda” message??? 🙄

There's no mention of real estate properties being gobbled up by private equity firms or rich people and having those properties turned into rental properties with ridiculous sky high rental rates that no one but with high 6-7 figure salaries can afford. There's also no mention the type of education and performance that public schools are giving compared to private schools and how enrollment of private schools is being affected in the San Francisco.
I swear SF leadership has their heads up their you know what. Just a few years ago, they took the merit based application down for Lowell High School and called it discriminatory because it wasn't enrolling enough black and Latinos in and had a disproportionate amount of Asian and white enrollment. They spent more time during Covid trying to change the names of some schools based political virtue signaling rather than getting students back into the classroom. On top of everything, you also have a system pushing BS teachings like common core math which is the one of the worst ways to sabotage a kid's education on math. I do not understand how you can teach this absurd way of doing regular math and expect them to have the fundamentals to build upon them to do higher level math in their college years like calculus which would give them the opportunities to be an engineer, or someone in the sciences.

I love what SF was in the early 2000s but you couldn’t pay me enough to live in SF with my kids. Id rather live in the suburbs of north bay, the peninsula or even east bay. Heck, I’d rather live in Livermore and commute than deal with the mental/ideological insanity in SF.

This feels like 40% of a news story. Is it more families choosing private school? Is it a nationwide decrease in the population of children? Is it that Bay Area families have left in large numbers? Why not provide any basic explanation? Can’t leave it to the comments, far too many citizens have a very closed mind towards the nuances of demographic shifts.

The lockdowns were a knockout punch for public schools. A lot of kids didn’t participate in the zoom classes and many dropped out - never returned. I don’t know that it has “flattened out” after COVID - the graph seems to show a continued downward trend, especially in Napa, Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Sonoma counties.

Anybody who wants to learn can do so with the Internet. Rain tanks, solar/wind energy, water shed restoration etc these are the jobs and lessons we need to be teaching. This way we can have a collective purpose. Currently, it shows that there is zero collective purpose.. so then why be there anyway?
