yeah i could imagine that the ac on that particular 240D was toasted but thought if you might have had experience with those before. it just seemed cool that you used the ac like you used the heater knob.
Hi there. Great project and work! I haven't been able to find anything on how to remove the headlining as it's come loose (the metal parts behind the lining might need replacing). Any suggestions or, even better, tutorials? Thanks!
for 200 manual gasoline.... (mine, 1977 RHD) open astray remove 2screw that holds "astray bezel"(whatever it's name) remove "astray bezel" then you can see there's 2 (more)screw near the astray side... those screw holds the center console plate continue to @1:21
how does that ac really work? if you put it half way does it blow a little cold? compared to modern systems which are only on/off thats a better feature isnt it? shame it was so rare in europe especially here in sweden.
I had that same issue with the brittle climate control faceplate inserts! I thought I'd made some terrible rookie mistake, but it turns out that's just how they are.
what about the shifter knob.....does it screw? a dog ate most of the rubber on my knob...and I want to replace it. I was able to unscrew one off a 1985 mercedes....but I have no idea if the one on my 1981 240d does the same...
Nightshade Acorn Manual or automatic? Even then, at least the manual knobs are different based on the age of the car. My '79 parts car had a different knob setup than my 1983 240D. The '83's knob just unscrewed from the shaft. I THINK the '79 knob is permanently attached to the shaft, and that the shaft itself needs to be unscrewed from the rest of the shifter.
+MercedesDieselGuy .... I have a 1981 240d Manual. I believe the shifter knob I got is from a 1985? but i was able to unscrew it very easly. But for my 1981...I am afraid to try too hard....it does not seem like it would unscrew....but I am not sure....
+Nightshade Acorn What model was the 1985 car, and was it automatic or manual? Like I said, I'm absolutely not sure when the change in the manual shift knob occurred. My recommendation would be for you to remove the shifter plate and to try to get a look at how your shifter looks under the boot.
Aaron P Don't. You got wrong information - it happens. Kent Bergsma/Mercedessource are an invaluable resource for anyone starting out in the Mercedes hobby. I've never met him, but he looks like an affable dude, as well.

I never touched the headliner in that car, so unfortunately I can't offer any advice
I couldn't say. The A/C was completely discharged and had been for a very long time.
I actually have almost 10 years maintaining three w123's I have owned

+mokujin aja Thanks for the additional info. I didn't realize there was a difference with RHD models.

So how exactly do you remove the car stereo/radio? Are there clips or do I need to pry it or what?
Your voice just seems like the first sentence would be "Stardate_______"!
That's one of the best things I've read in a while. Thank you.

Ryan Matlock Common problem from what I hear.
Can i remplace the anterior w123 by another w210 ?? Or w211
You want to use a later interior? I have no idea if that's possible without major modifications.
I have a picture w123 with dashboard w210
@@BEINGAMECHAHIN13 I doubt that would be a direct bolt-in replacement, but it sounds like someone made it work.
Maybe you can be the new mercedes source Ken passed away 2 months ago from a heart atack he will be missed
Aaron P I don't think that's true. Kent Bergsma has released new videos as recently as this week.

Oh god I feel stupid
