Willie, you know the old saying "Big surprises come in small packages", well you just proved that to be true! I think that combo is cool for what it is and would be a great addition to a "bug out bag", and the best part of it all was your reaction on the first few cast that produced a nice catch, simply awesome! Great video, take care and be safe!
Hey CJ! It definitely surprised me😁but It’s not exactly one of those things I’d leave the house with and not have something to back it up with but I can definitely see it down at the campground catching Bluegills in a future episode.. (spoiler alert)… Thanks for watching CJ!! Willie
@@caltaylor476 Nice!! 😃 It’s actually a pretty amazing little combo.. the question is, how long would it last? I think it’s a great novelty or something that would be neat to keep under the seat of the truck as a “just in case” kinda thing.. but I was definitely surprised what it could do..
I bought my daughter a rod and reel when she was little. She came up to me one time when we were camping and said....Dad I want to fish with a stick. So I fixed up with a top-notch stick rig. And, she caught a bunch of fish. I decided that day...the fish could care less what is above the water line. So the issue is if your rig is sturdy enough for whatever abuse you plan on applying that day
Sometimes some line, sharp hook, and the right bait is all a person needs.. The biggest Bass I ever saw in person was 11lbs, caught at a campground we were staying at, in the mid 70s, on a Zebco 808 by an elderly gentleman using night crawlers and a bobber the size of a baseball.. He told my Dad, he just bought that rod and reel this morning and had never really fished in his life but he didn’t want to just sit around the campfire.. lol. The fish don’t care who you are or what rod and reel you have.. 🤠
@@HandSumtactical Hey there! I was using Charlie Brewer sliders (colors vary depending on what’s biting) with a 1/16 oz Bass Pro Squirt jig tucked in the slider.. I like the Squirt jigs because the lead is “along the hook shaft” and not an odd looking “round ball head” like a typical jig.. I believe that the squirt jigs inside the slider (or any other plastic bait) it looks more realistic, like an actual bait fish.. So far, they have NOT let me down.. they’ve worked everywhere I’ve used them to some extent..
🤠Hey there! I have to say, for the short period of time that I used it, it was fun. The question is, for how long could you do it before you said “ok, had enough?”😂 But the moral of the story is, yes!! It does actually work!! lol 👍 You’re welcome and Thanks for watching!! Willie
Hi Willie, now that's my type of reel. It's also my type of price. It seemed to of really surprised you. You got a kick out of the first fish. I did too. That little thing flew out there and answered the call. I thought it was a joke at first. But the fish you caught with it, was definitely not a joke. I loved that little thing. If I could change the line, I would not hesitate to buy two of them. Tell all Hi and meow. Take care and stay safe till next time. ❤❤❤❤❤
Howdy Skye🤠, I wasn’t sure what to expect but what I got definitely exceeded anything I thought it could do. Not something I’d use on a regular basis but I can see it going to the campground and catching some bluegills.. Everyone says “Hi Skye and Meow🐈⬛”… Willie
Thanks so much!! I owe a lot of it to Trout Magnet making great line.. the combo did its job but I believe by having hardly any gear ratio whatsoever, it wasn’t putting a lot of pressure on the line, other than what the fish was putting on it and it plus the good line contributed. It was fun…🤠 Thanks for watching!! 😊 Willie
Gonna have to get mine back out and respool it with some trout magnet sos . What a huge difference and a lil grease. I snapped off 3 times, trying to catch a lil sunfish. Thanks for some great content. Really enjoy watching your videos.
Hey there, I feel like the would’ve been a major let down, glad I changed it. Trout Magnet is a great line. The little combo was fun but not something I can see ever leaving the house again, but the final answer, is it does actual work.. I was seriously surprised. Those fish weren’t small and the little combo handled it… for how long?? Well, that’s yet to be determined 🤠. You’re very welcome and Thanks so much for watching!! Willie
I spooled mine up with 6lb flourocarbon. PLine flouro to be exact and it casts perfectly and the line is double the strength and double the quality of the 3lb crap it comes with. When it needs to be changed I’m gonna try some 10lb braid with a little bit of monofilament as backing
@@jasonsmith3726 I have to say I was pleasantly surprised in it’s ability. Those were some pretty big crappie and it brought them in, took a while with its gearing but got them in nevertheless.. My 2lb trout magnet SOS was a definite improvement to the uncooked spaghetti noodle line that came on it.. Good luck with your experiment on line!! I was more worried about the reel coming apart than anything but it managed to hang together.. @@Simhan-t7p Hey there, Though this product will obviously catch fish, I have no idea how long it’ll last. I was catching some pretty good size fish that would give expensive equipment a good workout. I personally think this set up is more for children or people to keep in their car for that “just in case” time that may present itself.. it’s very small and the line that comes on it is very weak.. the reel has a very slow gear ratio and it takes time to reel in a fish. Being so small, there’s not much line on it so if a large enough fish decides to make a run, you’ll run out of line quickly and it’ll most likely snap it.. so I wouldn’t use this as an everyday piece of equipment, not saying that you can’t, but I wouldn’t.. hope that helps..
Howdy Wille! I wonder if your Daiwa Mincast 2 reel would fit on that rod? I like the addition of your original music to the recent videos. You sound great and it's a perfect fit. 🎸Cheers!
Thanks so much!! We try not to use the intro music “every time” to keep people from getting burnt out with it. Unfortunately the mini cast won’t fit on the rod. 😂 Lol, Well, I’ll say this, it did work but I think after an hour or so the novelty would probably wear off for me. No other reel will fit the rod so, if the reel poops out, you’re at the mercy of the Profishency company.. there’s definitely other alternatives out there for small travel set ups. Just sayin’…😉
Gets me thinking... I have an old tankara rod with a busted tip and a spincast rod reelseat and grip...how about a nine foot version. Might be a whole lot of fun.
🤠Hey Now!! That easily could be the ticket to success right there.. People these days are looking to be different.. I’m honestly surprised one doesn’t already exist. At least to my limited knowledge one doesn’t exist but if nothing else it would be a cool project.. 😁
