You’re right about ND’s path to the playoff. 10-2 won’t be enough with this schedule. They would need an unbelievable amount of help to make that work. 11-1 they should be a lock
10-2 should be enough and we have no idea how the schedule will shake out by season end. Considering everything is about money now and ND is money, helps a lot.
For 2 losses to get us in, we’d have to have the two losses come early in the season to respectable teams (@ A&M and Louisville) so we can make a push at the end while other fall. If it went that way, we’d have a statement win over FSU, and end the season on a 7 game win streak. That MAY be enough to get us in but I honestly don’t see it
@@dallasmorrow21 2 losses in the new playoff era is probably going to be enough since the B10 and SEC top tier teams are now playing each other. Unbeaten regular seasons is going to be very rare in the Power conferences. I see the potential of a 3 loss team getting in now. If ND only loses 1, definitely in, 2 losses are probable but not 3.
Notre Dame going 11-1 or 12-0. you are right about Hartman Lou, he was a let down last year. Leonard should be better. ND has ALOT of talent in the pipeline for Oline. Not really worried about Oline. Defense is loaded. ND was #3 in pass defense last year, #1 in lowest opposing QB rating. Bringing back Watts and Morrison in the secondary. Plus an AA at DT. Luckily the positions we "lost" guys at like oline and rb are the deepest positions on the rosters. only exception was LB, Berchand will be missed but our backups always had higher "upside" so hopefully they can fill in. If so I think ND basically a lock to make playoffs with this weak schedule and the talent on the squad. I agree ND schedule is VERY WEAK and it makes me very mad as a ND fan. ND should have 3 or 4 "big time" matchups a year. Now its only two FSU and USC and then its possible a team like USC sucks and then the schedule is even more laughing stock. ND got to do better scheduling get rid of these MAC teams and play some real teams.

To be fair, the Army game was a last minute fill in, originally they were supposed to play Miami, but Miami pulled out.

I've got ND at 12-0... but 11-1 or 10-2 wouldn't shock me. Best roster I've seen since 2018.
I'll say 11-1 as my optimistic guess. 10-2 as likely just based off my history as a fan. However, this is the best schedule they've had in awhile that I think their roster can handle. Lets see what happens. go irish

Lou, I love your videos but I think you’re dead wrong about the Noles. Sure DJ Oogieboogie is a downgrade, but Jordan Travis damn near quit playing football all together before Norvell came around. I think DJ is going to have his greatest season yet with FSU. As a lifelong FSU fan, yes there was a lot, while warranted, complaining about the snub. But I think FSU will use it as fuel not a distraction. Go Noles

As a Notre Dame fan let me say up front that: 1) I believe Notre Dame needs to have an 11-1 record in order to make the playoffs, and 2) they damn well BETTER go at least 10-2 with this year's schedule.
This being said, as I am not a bettor or game predictor I thank you for giving us your insights to all teams (thank you for the Georgia Tech summary, I knew nothing about them, so I will pay closer attention to that game), but, allow me to return the favor with a couple of insights as to why Notre Dame is Notre Dame. It's all about the respect for tradition. Where you see deficiencies with them Notre Dame fans feel pride. Pride due to the respect for those who came before.
We are proud of our independence, which dates back to 1909 when we beat Michigan for the first time and their coach, Fielding Yost blackballed Notre Dame from ever joining the Western Conference (later to become the Big 10), and he got all the schools and governing body to support that act. Thus of course led to ND having to go outside the conference to play other teams, which resulted in possibly the greatest intersectional rivalry with USC.
(of course, Notre Dame will probably end up joining a conference - when it all becomes the ultimate, all-consuming Power 1! 😄😄😄
As for the Naval academy, Notre Dame continues to honor the debt they owe due to their money and support which kept Notre Dame's doors open during World War II, when they were threatened to close. I won't bore you with all the details, so here is a link to an exceptional article, detailing Notre Dame's bond with the US Navy:

So again, Notre Dame is a school that chooses to honor traditions, no matter how it looks to outsiders. Notre Dame fans who are in-the-know choose to support the University as a whole for honoring these choices. That being said:

Notre Dame wont ever play a 13th game, but Notre Dame could also go 12-0, be the best team since the 85 bears and still go into the playoffs as a 5 seed and not get to skip the first round. Which is fair and Notre Dame is fine with that, they were one of the biggest proponents of the 12 team model we got now. Besides, Alabama and Ohio State both made the 4 team playoff without having to play a dreaded "13th game." Its a boring talking point especially with how many teams make the playoffs now. The schedule complaint is valid though, this is the worst ND schedule in at least 15 years.
If you're the 5 seed then you're playing a home game vs a group of 5 auto bid team like marshall

Aggie here: I think the ND game week one is a real coin flip honestly. Mostly depends on how quickly Mike Elko can turn the talent that we have into a real football team. We lost a good bit to the portal sure, but we will still have a top 10ish roster talent-wise. Jimbo didn't get fired for just having a bad team, he got fired for having a bad team with a LOT of talent. And keep in mind Elko turned Duke around from 3-9 to 9-3 in a single off season, and had top 5 defenses while he was a DC at A&M. Don't be surprised if the game is really competitive.

I just want to say as a guy that was born in ‘73 after Notre Dame won that championship. As a guy from Louisville, Ky growing up in the 80’s watching Saturday Morning Football(if you know Louisville and Kentucky football during that time, you know their games where showed at 7:30 pm when all the kids where outside playing with friends) where every week I saw ND, Michigan, Oklahoma, OSU, Texas, Nebraska, Georgia, and Alabama playing. I grow-up watching Notre Dame in their Gold Helmets!!! I have been watching your channel for the past 3 seasons. I am ND through and through, my only loyalty is to this football team(obviously being from Louisville, Ky I will only ever be a Cardinals Fan, duh). I may disagree with you, but I respect you because beside talking about the bullfrogs, I mean the Bulldogs (shoutout to Hershel Walker, Garrison Hearst and Knowshon Moreno). I will say that you have a respectable channel. I have finally subscribed to your channel. And again, I respect your incite. We speak the same language which is our loyalty to our teams, but we know how to take the helmets off and talk logical, good football!!! Lou as a ND fan I agree our schedule is weaker this year. ND just recently scheduled an FCS and had never done so in football history. But you don’t hear people talking about that. Because all SEC teams play them on the regular. Yes ND has a weak schedule. But they normally have a tougher schedule. But ND will be good, make the playoffs, and win a playoff game. Notre Dame is NOT losing to Louisville this year, that is a revenge game that is circled on ND's schedule. I am predicting a loss to GT which is the "trap" game in 2024. Louisville caught ND In 2023 after they had just played Ohio and Duke the two weeks prior, and they didn't have any energy for them. That won't be a problem this year 11-1 final record

As an ND fan, I’m impressed with the analysis. Not sure if Lou gets help with research for these, but he seems to really understand the team we have next year.
I’ve seen Georgia Tech beating ND as a popular upset, but I’m very confident it doesn’t happen. It’s actually a neutral site game in Atlanta and with ND’s very easy schedule this season, it’s the toughest game they should have in all of October. Anything can happen in college football, but I’ll be surprised if ND doesn’t boat race GT especially if they have a loss already and every game means their potential playoff spot is on the line.
We’re not losing to Louisville again. Definitely not at home.

11-1 loss to Florida state. 10-2 is a very notre dame thing to do, but from the intel you are discussing in the video I don’t see how one of the better notre dame teams in the recent decade screws up a schedule like this.

Unwatchable 3 minutes and a half minutes in. This schedule is manageable but far from Michigan’s last year. The Wolverines weren’t tested until November. The Irish are in College Station week 1.

Okay, I'm not necessarily saying you're blaming ND for the schedule, but why do they only play 8 power 5 opponents? That's right, Miami screwed them over by scheduling an extra out of conference game and the ACC did nothing to enforce the contract it has with ND. ND did not just choose this schedule on purpose, they had to find an extra game which came in scheduling Army.
For the record I hate playing only 8 P5 teams, just like the 2022 season where they chose to play 4 G5 teams (by the standards of 2022) and lost to one of them and I hate that they played an FCS team last year, but having 4 G5 teams due to the Army game isn't really necessarily on ND, it's the ACC's fault for not enforcing their own contracts.

Scared to join a conference? When you get your own tv deal and make more money then half the teams in the sec on your own, and able to recruit nationally because of it, why join?
And with the playoff now at 12 teams, ND has a great opportunity to make the playoff on a regular basis. The only negative is 2 losses is probably going to keep the Irish out while a conference team gets in.

Die Hard Notre Dame since 1984. Rudy, is a good movie. But it's not the best, and it's highly overused, and not everything ND hangs their hat on. I understand your dislike for Notre Dame, because some of the fans are annoying ans delusional. Yes, I believe it's time we should join the Big 10. The schedule was made years ago, and some of these scrubs were doing better. This is the easiest schedule in the ladt 20 years. It's not always like this. This is a 11-1 season at worst. But with your other comment Alabama, OSU, and Georgia play fbs schools. Navy plays there ass off and causes damage, ask Ohuo State. So knock that crap off. Sam Hartman should have been so much more. But we had a 1 year scrub for an OC. So I feel Hartman didn't get maximized. Denbrock is different. The only little concern is the O-line replacements, but Notre Dame is O-Line U, so we'll be fine. They never play both service teams the same season at least in yrs. I dont agree with the GT game but I agree 10-2 with a chance at going undefeated. There schedule this yr is weak. Facts. Normally, it's a top 25 schedule. Has been for over 20 yrs straight till this season. I believe they could lose 2. A&M and Louisville are very much lose able games. I think Riley may be a dud/let down right away. I hope I'm wrong but the constant injuries sure don't build confidence. Angeli seems to have potential to step up though and save the season if thats how it pans out with Riley.
