Ira you are a true nature being...I am sure your patents are proud of you...I really appreciate u to be able to explain how a child feels when being abused. I know a child even can believe a person who is abusing him/her...thinking may be the child herself is getting the person wrong. That is why a child is a gift of God.

I am listening to her for the first time and I would just say she is so truthful not because her face is without makeup, it is absolutely normal to look that way but because her words are a proof for those who really felt that pain and recovered or still dealing with it!
I would request people only one thing-
Please stop making suffering a virtue in the name of family, society or respect.
Your opinion no matter how uncommon it is, it does matters.

As a mother struggling with a child with mental health issues, this interview just gave me some relief. That someone like Ira openly talked about it. A person with a lived experience, running an organisation welcoming anyone in need of help for free without judgement shows how beautiful a soul she has. As always the most just, sensitive, humane, empathetic person goes through such situations. Love you girl for the work you do. Wish I lived there to meet you and seek support at your place.

The way she said my sexual abuse, she has actually owned it. I feel for her not because she went through all these things but she’s not out of it even half. It’s extremely brave of her to come out of her cell and talk about it. As a NLP practitioner and hypnotherapist I would like to suggest that while in the process of healing one should be extremely careful about words. People say my blood pressure, my diabetes, my poverty, my pain and my abuse. Disown it guys, it’s not yours. It is just something that you experienced or came across in life. It is difficult when you’re going through it but it happened just to shape you in some ways. May be so that you could become so resilient that you heal people or atleast you end your fear when the worst happened to you. Love yourself so much that nothing can affect you in anyways. Love is the answer.❤

I was mentally struggling two years back…i still have it sometimes…being in an indian household it was difficult for me to reach out for help… because i am sure they will think i am mad. So i decided to take a step by going to a therapist…but i am a student and i have no means to financially support my therapy session…and one session costed around 1200 and i had to get money from my friends to go for that session…. I couldn’t go it again…how i wish i could get these services at lower cost..like it should be affordable…it should be easily accessible to anyone..like mental health is basic…. I am still looking for a good therapist where i dont have to worry about money…. Great initiative mam…. Wish i could access to your program but sadly i am from kochi so ya…

Believe me therapy session don't help in longer run. Best way to come out of mental struggle is to listen to good preaching ( like iscon preaching of Amogh Lila Prabhu, gour gopaldas, premanand Swami, Shivani sister from brahmakumaris, any preaching which you like).when you will listen to it everyday ,it will change your thinking and make you a new person over time.
Believe in god so do chanting, meditation for sometime whenever you feel like.Deep breathing for 5 mins also helps whenever you go into any negative thoughts.listen to bhajans.
Spend time with animals.its a therapy in itself
Help if possible to needy poor people, children, animals.
      Go to temple
Stay away from negative people, negative serials, stay away from social media.
Always think that there are people who are in bad condition than you. You are far above them.
Always be grateful to God for what you have.
      Listen to affirmations
All these things will help you in great way.

I so what to visit agastya when next in Mumbai sounds like a safe and healthy place for people and kudos to Ira for giving selflessly to society when all she got was judgement . ira khan,
you have done very well in your life despite your early childhood traumas and tribulations. i applaud you heartily for your trying to educate others publicly on depression, which is often equated with sadness.
having experinced depression over a long period of time, i know that is an insidious malady in that it is often stubborn and intractable.
by listening to you in this podcast, people would come to know how devastating and debilitating it is to be afflicted with depression.
    i wish you well.

Sounds like an example of a classic parentified child who's been through parental neglect, had to probably caretake her own parent/s emotions instead of the other way round, feels like a "burden" to others so had repressed her emotions, and now says her parents have nothing to do with her depression. I hope parents realize their monumental role in their daughter's mental health issues. 😢

This is for all who wants to come out of mental struggle:
