    Very good video. I enjoy your content a lot. It is always concise and strait to the point. I have been sort of binge watching your Mavic 3 content lately, and especially looking up night video as I primarily film in low light. I just received my Mavic 3 Pro and am looking forward to all it can do. Thanks for sharing your professional experience.

    Always love the content m8, straight-forward and no BS. one thing that might be worth adding for review like night mode/noise reduction etc here would be 100%/200% crops to be able to compare details. YT compression makes it hard to tell the benefits, and some crops would be really informative.
    Thanks again and keep up the good work!

    Thanks Jake, best vid I've seen on night mode and settings.
    I'm on a 60k outback QLD Australia property, no lights at night except for the homestead.
    I'll try night mode soon anyway.
    My mav 3 is working mustering bulls that come to the homestead a few times a week and play up making dust.
    Mavic 3 pushes them a km back where they belong.
    I've flown it up to 5km several times, it could go further but battery life isn't long enough.
    Looking forward to checking out all your vids.

    Night mode rocks! Still, I am also super impressed with Gain/Exp tuning that gives us... wait for it: TRIPOD MODE. Even better actually because it's tunable and that braking sensitivity turned all the way down to 10 - the Mavic 3 is not only agile, fast, and aggressive. It can now be smooth as butter - something thar was not in its play book until now. Oh.. and Cruise Control, with multi stick inputs is game changer. I can go 4 kph forward, and 1 kph upward, while doing the world's slowest yaw... hands free. It finally does more than the same baked in DJI stuff you find on Air 2S and Mini 3 😁

    Funny I shoot M4/3 cameras. People always complain they have crap dynamic range. I have never had an issue. This just proves the point. The real issue with M4/3 is the added depth of field. Something people can struggle with if they don't take into consideration the crop factor.

    Nice video Jake. I'd have to step up to the Mavic series from the Air 2S. Honestly, how often do you use the telephoto zoom on the Mavic 3? Is it still worth getting or is the Classic good enough as far as zooming goes.

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  ปีที่แล้ว

    I dont know the laws in america about drones, but in europe the extra light for night flights has to be on the buttom (what makes more sense to see the drone from the ground) and the light has to be green. I was a bit wondering about that part in your video.

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Jake, I always take your word as Gospel even though I live in Canada. I have a Basic Pilot’s Certificate but I want to go for the Advanced Certificate so I can fly at night in cities like Vancouver, Toronto & Montreal so I can take nightscapes like this one! My big question is that I heard that Remote ID is also part of the update which I’m a bit hesitant about. Can you explain how Remote ID might affect the flying you did in this video taken at night. Thanks again for info on the Night Video Mode!

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure how remote ID in Canada will work but in the USA the drone now transmits the location data elevation and direction of the drone as well as the location data of the pilot. However so far that is only accessible by law enforcement. None of the publicly available apps are able to get that data as of yet

    yeessh not as good I hope tbh. I'm not sure if it's youtube compression but lots of color banding and noise on my end. For context: I am on a M1 MacBook, watching 4k and I work in major network / film industry full time as Union Drone Op / so I don't think it's my eyes. Love your work tho and appreciate this vid as I was considering using Mav 3 Cine for an upcoming night shoot for a show, don't think I will after watching this.

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that is mostly TH-cam compression tbh, however night mode locks you into normal color profile as well which is almost always a no go for any of the TV shows and productions I work on, only a few have said yes to that but I have yet to see the shots used on those shows lol. there is no way this will compete with a proper camera on an alta etc. On the aurora, I doubt it as well in video mode. it might catch a really bright display with moon light but I actually think hyper lapse mode might be able to pull something off. we will see...

Also you said 422 10bit and I think that is only with Pro Res. But besides that I wanted to get advise. I am shooting a commercial tomorrow night indoors in a large restaurant floor with a lot of xmas lights and decorations and a fire place. Its dim. Outside of Night mode I need to shoot about 2200 iso amd 60 shutter and F4 to get it lit up properly exposed. In a situation like this, would you use night mode? • @JakeSloan

      I am using the cine but I also use the standard both night mode but night mode standard color profile, the Dlog shots here are being shot in video mode, and Dlog is needed for 422 10 bit. Night mode doesnt need log as there isnt a huge amount of dynamic range to deal with

      first we need to have realistic expectations for a drone of this size but it’s a big step up it's not going to perform like a full frame low light camera like the A7sIII but the performance out of it for this size is impressive… it’s on the same level as the inspire 2 in almost all cases
