Some times it's too slippery to braid (mostly if you're doing from the root) so doing it in it's "natural setting" blow dried out well would also suffice.

I avoid buildup altogether by only using oils! I sometimes wet my edges to remove edge control buildup and I usually wash it after 3 weeks.

I have a total of 86 knotless braids in my hair and it took 5 in a half hours to do...and they are down my back lol...i definitely didn’t do them myself tho...the girl that did them is an amazing braider....but mine are JUST a TAD bit bigger than hers...
Mine took 6 hours and they’re tailbone length. It can be done!
