    If its really really stuck, don't give up this does work. Plenty of wD40 just leave it for 20 mins or so , trust me iv got really weak wrists and it did come of. I was about to put it outside , most people in this area take stuff if u leave it on your wall at the front they no u ate saying take it , maybe someone else could of used it. I fixed it so I'm really happy. Thank you. ❤️

    Thanks dude! Mine looks exactly like yours where the plastic gear broke off. The towel idea was awesome. I was trying to use a flat head screwdriver to hold the fan from rotating while using the plier and I was having no luck. Thanks again!

    I tried this but the fan kept slipping on its shaft when I tried to turn the bushing. I stuck a screw driver into the head of the screw that kept the fan on and pushed hard into it while turning the bushing, and that finally got it. Still a helpful guide that pointed me in the right direction, I'm just commenting here in case anyone else runs into the same issue with the fan slipping.

    Thank you for this video! Your tip of grabbing the whole fan with a rough cloth saved the day! I had tried to get the base gear nut off only with a screwdriver and it wasn't working. But once I grabbed the whole fan gently with the cloth, I was able to get enough mechanical advantage to turn the gear nut off with my vise grip. None of the other videos had this method, and this was the easiest solution! I did use some WD40 on the gear, but holding the screw just wasn't enough. This was brilliant!

    Good info. It's also a LH thread and had thread lock on it. If you have one like mine, it also turns inside before it loosens the gear thread so into the bin it goes and pick up a cheap used one on ebay instead.

    Ok, I gripped the bottom fan with the towel but the rest of the shaft still rotated with the unscrewing of the gear. Anyone else having this problem?

    • @techb0b
      @techb0b  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Collin, you need to unscrew the gear clockwise (to the right) while you hold the fan with the shaft. If it's to tight, add some WD40.
      Also at the bottom you have a screw that connects the fan to the shaft - maybe you can try tightening that up as well.

    The fan continued to rotate on mine until I held the metal screw that keeps it in place steady with a screwdriver, instead of a towel over the whole plastic fan. Back in business!

    I had to use a flat screwdriver to hold the bottom fan in place instead of a towel. The towel stopped the fan from rotating but didn't stop the motor under the fan from turning with the pliers/vice grip. A screwdriver kept the whole mechanism from spinning so I could loosen the brass nut.
