This piece, originally for solo cello, is a timeless masterpiece by Bach. The underlying composition is so strong that it easily adapts to ¾ meter, where the elongations give it more of a breathing and lyrical quality.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. This arrangement was originally conceived as a piece of ballet music, where they need a four-count vamp before they begin.
