Michael, thank you for listing the actual date of the race. Especially since USAC held two Championship Races at the Milwaukee Mile. Since you so thoughtfully listed this event as taking place on June, 6th, 1971 the seasoned fan will know that this was the annual follow up race to that year's Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. Or, as Frank Capua (played be the incomparable Paul Newman) said in his 1968-69 movie "Winning" when asked what's next for him as a driver after he's just WON The Indy 500, Frank replied "Everybody goes to Milwaukee after Indianapolis!" IMO the BEST line in the movie.

Those lane go go booted girls look so much better than all the fat guys wearing cargo shorts of today. Had a 71 Imperial 2 door LaBaron with the 440. Very very nice. That car could cruise at triple digits with plenty to spare. Handling was not too bad as big as it was. Torsion bar front end & NO rack & pinion steering. Loved it. P.S. Stopping that rear bounce was easy with a set of gas charged coil over shocks. I put the same up front. What an improvement they made. Plus putting L70X15s all round.
