- When 「Mobile Suit Victory Gundam」 concluded on March 25th, 1994, the series 「Mobile Fighter G Gundam」 was scheduled to premiere the following week on April 1st, 1994. However, the series wasn't ready for broadcast yet.
「Mobile Fighter G Gundam」 didn't formally premiere until April 22nd, 1994, and to fill the broadcast slot for the three weeks in between, three "Prologue" episodes were aired.
They were:
Prologue I: Birth Chapter (プロローグ・Ⅰ 誕生編)
Prologue II: Departure Chapter (プロローグ・Ⅱ 出発(たびだち)編)
Prologue III: Leaping Chapter (プロローグ・Ⅲ 飛躍編)
These episodes were hosted by Michael Tomioka and a young Shinji Uchiyama, as they talked about the Gundam franchise thus far, while also taking a sneak peek behind the production of 「Mobile Fighter G Gundam」. Members of the production staff and seiyuu were interviewed to get people excited for the new series, and between these segments the hosts reviewed and discussed key scenes from previous series' such as 「Mobile Suit Gundam」, 「Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam」, 「Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ」, and 「Mobile Suit Victory Gundam」.
This video, composed of footage from previous series' prior to G Gundam, is the opening theme played during these "Prologue" episodes.
