  • First 2 fully FPV flights - flown FPV from take off to landing. Couple of clips of the outside of the plane are taken from the LOS maiden last year.
    This is the Dynam Gloster Meteor 70mm EDF. Both motors and fans have been replaced with 6S FMS units, keeping the original ESCs. FPV is handled by a DJI air unit sitting on a Motionsic BAG gimbal. Head tracking is done using a Fatshark Trinity external module on top of the DJI goggles.

    This is just superb, well done from a modeller of too many years.

    Simply wow! Congratulations. This makes me imagine how in the future, having a stereoscopic camera setup in the cockpit, and flying it with a VR headset, will make you feel like being right inside the cockpit even more. And if you happen to sit in a full-motion articulate VR seat while flying, yet another level of immersion.

    Fantastic, as close to real flying as anyone can get, excellent cockpit details.

    Just superb flying and scale feeling! I am trying to get into scale flying myself. As I tested the dji fpv camera, I noticed that my instrument panel was a bit blurry, but when i rotated the camera 180 degrees and flipped the image in the goggles menu, the panel became clear somehow.. Might be worth to try out since you have a lovely scale cockpit in there :) Might not work if the camera is too close to the panel though..

    Awesome, great work. I really enjoyed this FPV and the Idea is also awesome.
    One question - what's the safe distance to have view and control?

      Lots of factors Kotel. The law in each country on the power of the equipment varies, which massively affects range. There are also laws on flying beyond the sight of an observer in most countries which would limit you to a maximum of about 1km, and weather has a big impact - moit air can drastically reduce video range. Anywhere from 300-1000m in most places should be possible and usually still be legal - but you need to check your own local laws.

    did you put the sound of the real plane over the fly by at the start?

    • @johnlancaster1960
      @johnlancaster1960  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes sort of - it is a sound clip from FSX - which is a simulation of the real thing - the sound is very distinctive and incredibly realistic.

    That is a very clear canopy. Did you do anything to it?

      @johnlancaster1960  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The windscreens are replaced with optically clear acetate sheet, the bubble canopy has just been cut away.
