Only a small country can appreciate the anxiety that a small country like SG experiences with regards to and not limited to security and sovereignty. Just for example, few years back, China (HK) decided to hold back a shipment of SG's armoured vehicles due to "administrative error" that wasn't even landing on HK, just passing through and which have been done numerous times. Doesn't matter whether or whatever that "administrative error" means and whether SG was truly deficient in this regard, just because we are small, we have to suck it up. Any other bigger country, even those with less trade, less ties to China than SG won't have this issue. Does China have the guts to detain Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Australia or any other larger country's armoured vehicles passing through HK even if they have ZERO papers? That was China flexing, a bigger country flexing and expecting submission. To Taiwan, if security and sovereignty is important, one year of service is absolutely necessary even if this is a propaganda video, it is prudent to be self-reliant.
China was & is still aware that Sg has military training in Taiwan for decades. It shows how a big country could easily flex its muscles and be a big bully and our govt have to go up Beijing to appease them even though the retention was totally unreasonable.
Who and what? If the news of military items were spotted in SG harbour, the same kind of detaining will also be done by SG authority. My son hated his army life until he see for himself how he has changed after he was out of army. Actually he didn't notice the changes until i pointed them out to him. There were many things which he took for granted but now he actually wakes up early and did a lot of things all by himself. I remember i was so worried when he was first enlisted, now, i agree with my hubby that it is a good training for them.
Taiwan's threat from PRC is VERY real and outright clear! I am actually surprised that there was this reduction in the service period for its male citizens to only four months some time ago. That was only one month more than our (SG) basic military training... Definitely very inadequate to pose any real challenge to the mighty military force across the strait. The increase to 1 year is marginally better, but personally I think it is still inadequate to mount a strong defence. I had served 2.5 years of active NS and 13 years of reserve combat service. Although this had taken up some time in my life, I feel that I have had fulfilled and discharged my duties and responsibilities as a citizen.
It is down to complacency thinking that PRC will never invade Taiwan. However the situation changes when the PRC becomes more aggressive under Xi. On the other hand, Taiwan also often assume that the US will protect them from a PRC invasion. If not for Russian invasion of Ukraine, I don't think that Taiwan will even wake up to the threat of a PRC invasion. I hope that the adjustment to Taiwan's military conscription policy is not too late even though 1 year of NS is still inadequate in my opinion. By the way, Taiwan is still full of mummy's boys and not ready to sacrifice their lives to defend their country.
They are allowed dual citizenship, so alot of them already had backup plans and some of them deep inside their hearts know taiwan is not a actual country so they don’t give a hoot to their defence. Just make as much as possible before the ship sink.
When you talked about PRC threat to Taiwan, what about Taiwan's threat to PRC? It's Taiwan keep pressing for independence that irritates PRC! They have , theirs is 教招。 Normally is 5-7 days , relak relak watch tv whole day. Now they intend to toughen it to 14 days to include actual training like range , PT etc.
Taiwanese must understand that it will take more than one year to train civilians up to operationally ready soldiers. The 1st 3 months will be preparing one with individual soldiering skills like personal weapon handling (your rifle) and individual fieldcraft (camouflage, field movement, night navigation and hand communications). Then when individual skills are acquired, the soldier has to learn how to work with a few other soldiers in a section of 8 to 10 men. How to move in formation, reaction to enemy fire, etc. They graduate as privates and move on to vocation training like infantrymen, drivers, mechanics, clerks, armour, mechanised infantry, combat engineers, scouts, snipers, naval divers, commandos, etc. This can take 3 to 6 months. Officers go for a 12 months course to get their commission. After this 2nd phase, most will go on to work with bigger formations of platoon, company, battalion, brigade and division sized forces. Advance training is done in progressive sophistication and can take 1 to 2 years. When I did my national service, I did 3 months of basic military training, 5.5 months of basic commando training, 4 months of vocation training, 2.5 months of cross training, 2 months of basic airborne course, 6 months of 1st advance commando training, 6 months of 2nd advance commando training. In between, there was 1 month of annual leave. So it took a total of 2.5 years to be a fully trained and operationally ready commando. I was then released from full-time national service and transferred to an operationally ready battalion to practise our skills for another 7 high key years including 2 Xin Guang exercises (星光部队) in Taiwan. All Singaporeans sincerely appreciate the people of Taiwan for allowing us to train in their country. We do not wish war with any country. But if it has to be, then the cost to the enemy will be heavy. I think Taiwanese should bear this in mind when doing their National Service. But the 1st strategy is not to allow any other country to stir up trouble with the 2 million man PLA. Nobody can win a war with China. Not even the US and NATO put together. So never allow anyone to use Taiwanese soldiers as pawns in a proxy war like what is happening to innocent Ukrainian soldiers now. Many thousands will die needlessly.

新加坡的国民服役是用两年的时间,把一群十八岁的男孩训练成随时准备上战场保家卫国的军人/男人 ！！然后在他们四十岁之前年年回营复训，确保人人是能立刻投入战争的战备军人 ！！
古早時是兩年半+13年 後來減到兩年+10年
两年全时训练是最低限度了 一年的新兵要作战存活几率是很低的 四个月那根本不是军训 当是长期露营吧
說的沒錯，大家都不當兵那誰要保護你，誰都不想發生戰爭，但自己的國家要靠自己保護，大家真的不要怕當兵怕訓練
我人生最鐵桿的朋友都是當兵時交的，我兒子現在體驗到了。
我當年第一精衛兵 我最小兒子剛剛去年服役現在第三精衛兵 ， 現在在 Pasi Lada 受訓 🤣 。knn 他爸林北當年薪資$125因為是106偵查營的106反坦克炮手在退役之前的津貼為$475， 我兒子他現在$670而且3月初受訓完估計津貼暴漲$3200 ！

老实说，一年里面只能完全熟悉基本训练
在入伍后的前三个月内, 首要学的任务是纪律 (培养合群、责任、士气、耐力) 再来是用枪和步操；至于要熟悉 (操作硬件、作战环境) 则得待在被分配到个别兵种后, 训练才算正式开始。
以色列人当兵都要四年，台湾一年根本就不够，更何况台湾最大的敌人比以色列更加严峻啊。

站營區大門的時候親眼看過好幾臺進營區 感覺是直接從星國運來直接開上岸

我95年3月到9月就被派去新竹湖口的星光部队。
是“星”光部队。

80年代我們“星光計劃”去臺灣時，臺軍和我們的戰鬥力水平相似。是臺灣政客為了贏得選舉而謊稱與大陸打戰美國一定會派兵相助臺灣，安撫一些臺灣人的短視觀點，從縮短徵兵期到廢除徵兵制建立志願軍，但不願軍費開支，極低的工資導致缺乏士官，導致臺軍今天薄弱的狀況。說實話，自願相信政客，選民也必須承擔一些責任。

台湾的国民服役不是不好，不过制度上有待加强。说真的2年下来学习都觉得很匆匆忙忙，更何况不到一年的军训你觉得能取得什么样的效果？军人对于作战的能力跟信心在吗？
美国西点军校的纪念馆里，摆着537.7和597.9两个高地的模型。上甘岭战役至今仍是他们的教学战例。

How does the Taiwan reservist work? Do they have compulsory trainings after their national service?
yes they do have reservist but I doubt that it is ten year cycle, should be lesser. Maybe just 5.

They have , theirs is 教招。 Normally is 5-7 days , relak relak watch tv whole day. Now they intend to toughen it to 14 days to include actual training like range , PT etc.

两年军训可以改变一个男孩坚强的心智，成熟思维，合群的态度，有自信心和担当，不怕死的精神。
早期去过了几次湖口军营，接触了一些台湾军人，知道有背景的儿子当兵都是当很轻松的兵。不用去外島当海军陸战隊，蛙人，在本島每星期都可以外出回家。这是我亲身体验的。
Taiwanese must understand that it will take more than one year to train civilians up to operationally ready soldiers. The 1st 3 months will be preparing one with individual soldiering skills like personal weapon handling (your rifle) and individual fieldcraft (camouflage, field movement, night navigation and hand communications). Then when individual skills are acquired, the soldier has to learn how to work with a few other soldiers in a section of 8 to 10 men. How to move in formation, reaction to enemy fire, etc.
They graduate as privates and move on to vocation training like infantrymen, drivers, mechanics, clerks, armour, mechanised infantry, combat engineers, scouts, snipers, naval divers, commandos, etc. This can take 3 to 6 months. Officers go for a 12 months course to get their commission. After this 2nd phase, most will go on to work with bigger formations of platoon, company, battalion, brigade and division sized forces. Advance training is done in progressive sophistication and can take 1 to 2 years.
When I did my national service, I did 3 months of basic military training, 5.5 months of basic commando training, 4 months of vocation training, 2.5 months of cross training, 2 months of basic airborne course, 6 months of 1st advance commando training, 6 months of 2nd advance commando training. In between, there was 1 month of annual leave. So it took a total of 2.5 years to be a fully trained and operationally ready commando. I was then released from full-time national service and transferred to an operationally ready battalion to practise our skills for another 7 high key years including 2 Xin Guang exercises (星光部队) in Taiwan. All Singaporeans sincerely appreciate the people of Taiwan for allowing us to train in their country.
We do not wish war with any country. But if it has to be, then the cost to the enemy will be heavy. I think Taiwanese should bear this in mind when doing their National Service.
But the 1st strategy is not to allow any other country to stir up trouble with the 2 million man PLA. Nobody can win a war with China. Not even the US and NATO put together. So never allow anyone to use Taiwanese soldiers as pawns in a proxy war like what is happening to innocent Ukrainian soldiers now. Many thousands will die needlessly.

@@sglittlereddot 第一线的常备军的确是十年没错，但根据条例完成十年常备军役后不代表就退役了，在国家有需要时可以重新征召40岁以下的士官/士兵和50岁以下的军官/前职业浑人。
新加坡製制SAR-21 基本配備標準雷射+瞄準鏡與步槍合為一體。台灣步槍不想說了……..
@3:02 我是道地的新加玻人。30年前就在服役不过和你说的有出入叻。数位化没那么普及。在训练时都没军官拿着电脑仪器来做任何的训练。而当今的状况就不同。都已数位化了！

四十多年前我参与星光演习，排里有一位錫克同胞，台湾的乡村小孩都指着笑他是阿拉伯人😂
按照一年服役来说真的是不太充足。新兵训练3个月，每个部种不同为期可能3-4 个月不等，还的再接受班，排，连，营，旅，师各种军演时间都不够了。一年服役时期真的得好好规划一下。😊
新加坡已经是把两年当三年用，直接训练到跨军种协调。台湾要把一年当三年用只能每天24小时都在训练吧。
在新加坡男生命比较苦。从幼稚园到大学头发都没机会长过耳朵，退役后因为战备也懒得留长发。我第一次头发故意留长过耳朵时都47岁了。 当兵时女友还会兵变。

这视频是为了宣传延长兵役一年拍的。但是，如果现在的新加坡政府管理台湾，新加坡政府将会和中国大陆搞好关系，可能还会与大陆政府在防务上合作。就如新加坡军队防的是周边邻国，同时也和周边国家合作军事演习，不只限于东盟，与中国大陆合作军演也时有所闻。

其实国民服役制度是小国的威赫战略，如新加坡这种小国前后有超过100万国民受过完整军事训练。入侵者就算一举攻下，要如何处置这百多万名受过完整训练的前军人？
1）屠杀殆尽而捞个屠夫下场？国籍认同吗？
2）关入集中营养着？耗损国力资源吗？
2）放任自由，侵略者从此生活在恐惧与猜忌中？这些前军人什么时候、地点会反扑？
有一百万受过军训的国人，那你还去当俘虏 ？？ 还不知道应该一起投入抗战吗？ 🤣
@@thomastc4535 正是因为有超过百万受过正式军事训练的国民才不会有想过当俘虏。不像有些国家不愿军训只想外国协防，没有外援就坐等当个光明正大的俘虏。
服役影片里看到的都是开抢，露营。其实服役所学的是：纪律，服从，规划，营运，思维。试想，这都不是企业所须的质素吗？

当年曾和中国志愿军在朝鲜有过正面斗争的李启微，老年在自己的回忆录中写道：彭将军是一位有勇有谋的将领，他所带领的志愿军是文明的对手，对待被俘虏的士兵很友好。战争结束之后，李启微还在自己的办公室墙上挂了一个横幅，上面写着“只向中国志愿军司令致敬”，从这点可以看出，中国军人在李启微心里是值得尊重的。

@@loulouis9754当时解放军对国民党俘虏的政策是加入解放军或者发路条路费回家，再加上1949年之后选择加入解放军的这群人进入了西北和东南的部队，因此国民党俘虏加入志愿军的人数没那么多，也就是整编起义的60军进入了朝鲜战场。
@@loulouis9754 野战部队里绝对没有。只有解放军国防大学当时不了解美式装备和美军战术思想，所以找了几个俘虏去讲课。
新加坡徵兵不是要人民去打戰。新加坡的政策是睦鄰，只有朋友沒有敵人，什麼抗馬保新，抗印尼保新，抗中保新，新加坡執政者絕對不會去喊。喊多了他國當你是儍蛋，咀講LP 爽。
