3 of the documents that they founded and really impressed me about their life and how its near to our life nowadays: 1- an attendence for workers in a query and the guy who was taking the attendance had wanted to count something so he flipped the papper and done the math on the other side. Very impressive to see that they had an attendance sheet in ancient world😳 2- a father send a letter to his son at the university in the capital which is one of the funniest documents as the hard talk are very similar to what is used with children in modern egypt. Actually very similar to a one that wrote by my grandfather to my uncle when he went to university. 3- was a document of a law suit of a dispute on a house. Which it sounds very modern. Frankly what I like about ancient Egypt that you can find allot of this documents and not just the tales of the rulers but people who lived there
@@chewhard8332 Esp. Egypt also had a prolific bureaucracy, with professional scribes keeping records of lots of stuff. So we do have texts mentioning the working conditions, wages, and so on of lower-class people, mostly because they were mentioned in these official documents. And for some official documents, it's not necessary that the holder can read them. They just need to have them, and show them to the scribe if needed. And even though only a small minority could write or read, you can pay a scribe to write a letter for you, and read it out to the recipient. So while of course the poorest people are under-represented, it's not only wealthy literate people who left us records of their lives. As for the pyramids, them lasting this long is impressive but not a result of "precision" or something. They're basically artificial mountains - huge piles of stone in a very stable shape, in a very dry climate and on land that no-one needed for anything else. So nobody went to the huge effort to intentionally destroy them, and as we can see with natural mountains, they don't just disappear by themselves.

This was an excellent video. I love getting these glimpses into the more mundane aspects of ancient cultures. It's so fascinating, especially as we don't often hear about them, compared to the elite parts of those cultures.
When I heard this was sponsored by Pharaoh I got extremely excited! I actually jumped a little in excitement! This was my favorite video game growing up! I loved the style and the fact it was based around Ancient Egypt. I also loved it because it was like building with LEGOs but on a computer and I had little meeples running around the screen. I still have my original game manual from way back in (2001? 2003? Idk when my Mom bought the game, but I was super young being like 5-7 years old). I loved that game so much. I spent hours playing it. Sometimes I got waaay too distracted by the game. But I loved it so much that when I lost my original disk my Mom bought me a replacement disk copy of the game. I still play it occasionally.
I kid you not, when I clicked this video, I immediately think about the Pharaoh game because it's quite a large part of my childhood. Low and behold, this video uses the remake version of said game and even uses gameplay footage from it! Not only this was an amazing video in itself, it's personally also a trip (sail?) down memory lane.

In a world full of Established Titles and other nonsense, I just want to say how much I appreciate ads like this. Relevant to the video, and therefore relevant to the viewer. I loved the original Pharaoh, and had the new one on my wishlist, yet I'd have had no idea it released today without this ad, and now this video put me in the mood to play it. 10/10, should be the way all advertising works. This civilization was so advanced both in culture and technology. If I could go back in time, I would come here and prevent the fall of this beautiful civilization.
We may not be building impressively enormous stone buildings anymore but it's definitely preferable to live in our modern civilization. We have air-conditioning and an 8-hour workday!
It's always nice to take a step back from the grand and epic to observe the small and miniscule. Reminds you that it's, many times, the small folk who have truly built up to the world we know today.
I am Greek but we love Egypt since well forever. Especially ancient Egypt but Ptolemaic Egypt, Roman Egypt, medieval and nowadays are almost very interesting as well. Always great wealth so much ancient culture and history not to mention its the most mysteriously beautiful country in the world.

I enjoyed this. It was fascinating. Yes, please do more day in the life of ancient civilizations. This is one of the best-if not THE BEST- history channels on TH-cam. And I love the pace. It's not a rush job, but steady and thorough.
I know this video came out because it was sponsored by the publishers of Pharaoh, but please consider making a video about the life of the ancient greeks, with a focus on the commoners (housing, chores, professions, etc). A lot of mainstream outlets for ancient history, like school books, only give a barebones insight, for example they always show what a greek rich house looked like but never what the poorer folks or even just the merchants lived like. I've always wondered if the greeks ever had clusters of apartments stacked over one another, similar to the roman insulae, but no insight is ever given on that. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
I strongly doubt the Ancient Greeks had anything resembling pre-modern Roman apartment buildings. This is mostly because they were a lot fewer than the Romans and therefore had no need to bundle up in that manner to save space - especially in an agricultural society where every bit of arable land was put to good use (Greece is mountainous and therefore not accommodating to large-scale farming), therefore encouraging traditional farmsteads. On the other hand, the Minoan palace complex at Knossos (dating to before 1200BC, so at least 400 years before the Greeks as we know them) had several layers of apartment-like stories with various living quarters and offices. That is the closest thing to an insulae that I am aware of.

This video is enough proof for those claiming that modern Egyptians are not ethnically Egyptian. Even in major cities where Egyptians adopted foreign objects traditions etc Cultural Continuity is still clearly observed in today's culture. A few examples from the vid. Bread: we call it Eish(life) or ancestors would call it Ankh, eating birds(pigeons) still a thing, Sham El Nessem(harvesting season and eating fermented fish with bread) still a thing, "Stick fighting" Tahhtib.......... could go on and on

Great advantage for the ancient Egyptians was that they didn't need to encounter too much(until the iron age) the blights the other civilizations in the region had to encounter that is: Aspiring world conquerors, tribal confederations, nomadic raiders and pirates. Also off course mostly predictable weather and water supply. Only in the iron age when each tribe could become an invading army did their fortune stopped.

I strongly doubt the Ancient Greeks had anything resembling pre-modern Roman apartment buildings. This is mostly because they were a lot fewer than the Romans and therefore had no need to bundle up in that manner to save space - especially in an agricultural society where every bit of arable land was put to good use (Greece is mountainous and therefore not accommodating to large-scale farming), therefore encouraging traditional farmsteads. On the other hand, the Minoan palace complex at Knossos (dating to before 1200BC, so at least 400 years before the Greeks as we know them) had several layers of apartment-like stories with various living quarters and offices. That is the closest thing to an insulae that I am aware of.
This was a really fascinating look into the lives of everyday Ancient Egyptians. I wonder if Invicta ever did a video on this?

At least the map of Armenia is correct, in the last hundred years or so, they have tried to wipe off Ancient Armenia off all maps and change our identity to people of Caucuses. Thank you for the video!!
This video is enough proof for those claiming that modern Egyptians are not ethnically Egyptian.
Even in major cities where Egyptians adopted foreign objects traditions etc Cultural Continuity is still clearly observed in today's culture. A few examples from the vid. Bread: we call it Eish(life) or ancestors would call it Ankh, eating birds(pigeons) still a thing, Sham El Nessem(harvesting season and eating fermented fish with bread) still a thing, "Stick fighting" Tahhtib.......... could go on and on

Great advantage for the ancient Egyptians was that they didn't need to encounter too much(until the iron age) the blights the other civilizations in the region had to encounter that is: Aspiring world conquerors, tribal confederations, nomadic raiders and pirates. Also off course mostly predictable weather and water supply. Only in the iron age when each tribe could become an invading army did their fortune stopped.
The Bronze Age wasn’t exactly peaceful for the Ancient Egyptians!

Ceasar certainly understood this when he paid the priests to fake a sign from Jupiter (also from the show). It's always was and is a business, just a spiritual business, with a healthy helping of 🐃💩 on occasion.
