Love your projects 🤩 My advice to stitch on black aida is to turn off your stitchy lamp and put a white blanket on your knees, underneath the project... It's magic 😊
I just found your videos---yes through your mid year wip parade :) You are absolutely fabulous! Keep up the great stitching--I love that you do so many full coverage.
Emily, I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Whether you are in a chatty or rambling mood, I just wish your videos were longer because I need more. Lol Great progress, love your crochet and also your upfront honest option about every thing having a place. We should be able to purchase cheap or expensive patterns for what ever our budget allows, it should not be a reason to look down on someone for what or where they purchase their stash. Let them enjoy it I say. Can't wait to the next one, take care and happy stitching 🌷🌷 from Judy in New Zealand
Hi Emily, so pleased that the problem with your phone has been resolved for you. Always love your videos, I'm also a knitter, but I would really like to learn to crochet. Happy stitching and crocheting 😊❤
Happy that you managed to get back your patterns from the old phone. Your bad luck reminded lots of people to back up regularly, I always just export the pdf. And we love to see you so happy nowadays, even if you do ramble occasionally!
So happy your patterns issue worked out so well. I stitch similar to you in the way you find the hole from the back with the addition of places my finger on the back over the stitch when I pull it to the front to keep it from knotting up. Needle to the back in just enough to turn it around, needle to from, finger over stitch. Can knit without looking. Need to look when crocheting. US crochet terms equal how many times you pull the yarn through to complete the stitch, once single, twice double, three times triple. I have the same problem in reverse when reading a pattern by a UK designer. 😁 Great rant! 👏 Keep it up totally agree. I choose to use aida and DMC for every project even HEAD. I am very happy with all my projects. Thanks for the video.
You can get crochet hooks that light up - I wonder if we can get a needle to light up, like glow in the dark? I'm thinking undark, but without the radioactiveness 😅 Would definitely help with stitching on black fabric!
A rambly video once in awhile is just perfect. And this was amazing I started with 600 sts left on a HEAD (SK Pocahontas) and now I am only missing 300sts until it is fully done. So thank you for keeping me company while I try and get the last little bit done 😊❤
The other thing with stitching on black, and i am sure you know this, is I put a white fabric on my lap. It reflects the light and helps to see the holes.
I agree with everything you said! Not to mention that the DMC are more expensive in Europe than in the US, for example. I don't kit my projects fully, I stitch off of my (still in progress) master set, and buy skeins as needed. The only things I buy fully kitted are Mirabilias or Bellas (and my one and only Chatelaine) because I need to buy everything -except the DMCs- from abroad. None of the other materials are locally available (I buy the DMC locally, because here it is cheaper than in Italy). I get paid an overtime project once a year in October, wait for black Friday sales and allow myself one large order. Fortunately there's no customs from Italy. On my Chatelaine, that I could afford only because I get all my overtime in one large sum, and because it apparently is one of the less expensive ones, I knew I had to shell out - plus paying 1/3 of the price again in customs.
I love your rambling! I can’t get over how happy you are! Your smile is so beautiful and your voice so light. When I got back into cross stitch, there were so many choices! My very first project I changed the thread. My sister said, of course you did, you are a quilter. You’ve been working with colors for years. I understand about crochet compared to knitting. I can never look up from crochet. Crochet is faster for me, but not as social as knitting.❤
Hi Emily! I thoroughly enjoyed your floss tube episode - but then, I alway do! It's extra special to have a long and more conversational one. I'm so glad you were able to recover your stitching progress. I sure wish an iOS version of Patternkeeper was available. I've heard about MarkUpXP, but haven't really looked into it yet. Thank you for voicing your opinions about stitching. I completely agree. This is a hobby - something we all love to do for pleasure and escape. There is already enough (or maybe too much) judgement, criticism and conflict in everyday life. Have a wonderful week!
Glad that you were able to recover your patterns from your old phone. It's always a good thing to resolve our issues. Good to hear you're going to have an eight-day break. You deserve it and it would be good to catch up with Maddie and do some stuff for yourself. Stay safe Emily 💕 P.S. Re where I am at your "shell scale", I'm like you where I'm about in the middle. But to this day, I'm primarily a DMC floss stitcher. The only other special thread I use is Sulky. I can't really be a specially thread stitcher as I don't find it affordable. So I stick with DMC and Sulky so I can stitch more pieces. But I'm happy for those who have hundreds of WIPs and use hand dyed everything. Good on them. I don't get envious as I know where my niche is. I do me and everyone can do themselves 😊
Hi Emily, so very glad to hear that your patterns are safe & sound 😊 Also so lovely to see you happy and enjoying life as well as crochet. I'm also not a fan of the cross stitch police & the more inventive & creative the interpretation, the better. Looking forward to your next floss tube xx
So glad to see you retrieved everything from your phone. Thank you for sharing your projects. It was lovely to see your crochet. I’m opposite to you, I can crochet and watch tv but not knit, I have to keep a closer eye on it 😊
thanks for your video. loved to see the update on your projects. Thanks for your point on some "rules" made by others in the cross stitch world... I totally agree with you. there are no rules.
I’m so glad you got everything back. I’ve been thinking about you all week. I love how free you are with your stitching. I often site you and your videos on Facebook groups when people ask if they can stitch haeds etc on bigger counts.
Soo relieved to hear your tech person was able to sort your old phone. Continue to really enjoy your videos Emily. I really like Dinky Dyes silks - Joy to use, but you need to watch dye lots carefully- a lot of mine are from the original Aussie dyers and I imagine when they sold to someone in US that there were different rules about dyes so there are some huge differences! (You can guess how I found that out!!) I’ll check to see whether I have the denim & get in touch if I do….. The cross stitch police - I agree - your hobby, do it how you want. Personally I don’t intentionally buy a copy because it’s not fair on the original designer. However I can understand why people might if it’s the only way they can afford it……..very complicated topic…..
Lovely to see your video. I am in the stitch how you like and kit how you can camp. My eye slight is getting worse so I bought a craft lamp and unfortunately it produced so much glare for everyone else. So I bought a £8 lamp from amazon that sit around my neck. I do look like I have snakes coming out my chest 😂 but it works. Take care 😊
Awesome video. Agree with everything you said. Definitely no rules in cross stitch. I too get annoyed when reading comments in social media. Parts of this community can get so outraged on things. I believe stitch whatever you want, however you want. I would love to see the blanket your knitting. I crochet and am a beginner knitter and love the idea of using up stash by making a big blanket.
I love a long rambling video. They’re perfect to stitch with, like having a friend in the room ☺️ I need to go into my drive and delete all the old backups, just keeping the newer ones. I’m getting a bit of a collection now 😬 My master set of dmc is a work in progress. I buy as I go. I can’t justify buying colours I don’t need and may never need. I too love knitting, unfortunately my hands do not, they stiffen up so fast. It’s why I took up cross stitch again as I can do that for longer periods of time with no issues. I’ve seen a few floss tubes pull out their knitting (blankets) lately and I’m feeling the pull to do one. I’m thinking if I do triangles or similar maybe my hands will make it through with less pain that way. 🤞🪡🧶☺️💜
I just clicked on your channel and I really like it. Why am I only just now seeing you? I woild have subscribed sooner. See you next time. Happy stitching 🪡😊
I am so glad you were able to access everything. I agree 100 percent about not judging others crafting and there is no right or wrong way to craft.❤❤ Vote yes to no cross stitch police. Lol.
Hi Emily. Tie all the knots you want to! Now I want to crochet after seeing you work on your blanket. So glad you have your old phone working to upload your progress and patterns. See you next time. Have some glorious stitching time.
I feel you. I finished my WIP on black aida this year (finally). And I have another chart kitted up from the same series. Guess what? I am not using that black aida I kitted it up with. :D
You are not alone with how you stitch. I do the same thing but with my right hand. The only thing that doesn’t fit in our hobby is someone who tells someone else things have to be done their way. I always say “ you do you boo” whatever works and makes you happy 🙂
Hi Emily! Thanks for expressing your point of view. I tend to agree with you on all points expressed. Hope your stitchy bug returns soon but nice to see your new crochet blanket and it's lovely colors so far. So happy that you were able to recover everything from your old phone. While I try not to purchase ripped off kits from China, I bought one unknowingly in the past from Herrscherners catalog. Only questioned it when I received it and there was no English on it at all, only Chinese and then later discovered it was a Dimensions Gold kit. I held it for a long time (it was bought long before the whole copyright issue was a big thing) because I was not sure I would be able to figure everything out without any instructions. Now I have enough experience with various kits and patterns that I decided I was going to stitch it since it was already purchased. I will not spend the money for the Gold Dimensions kit since they are so expensive now but am considering it a learning tool. My stitchy bug has been very lacking lately to the point that I only have been stitching some days for about half an hour on a challenge I am in and have been in for too long to give up on it now because I have been sick with walking pneumonia, took a course of antibiotics, felt better for about 2 days and now am right back running hot and cold, coughing and all the things that go with it. I go see my doctor later today (Friday) and will what he has to say but this has been going on for over a month and I am really getting worn down. Have fun with whatever crafting you decide to do. Dawn in Texas
Oh I totally agree with you and love your point of view to everything. I feel inspired to look at everything elwith more love, more care. Thank you ☺️ Ans so glad you managed to get all your patterns!❤
I loved the the light blub thing thats what goes on in our house lol agree totalling with what you are saying about what we can afford at first when i was putting up my stitching on heaven and earth i was worried because its only 14 ct aida and large but thats what i love to stitch on and i was proud of my picture.
So glad you got your phone fixed, must have been such a relief. I agree about there is room in the cross stitch community for all budgets of stitchers, I am also at the lower end but love watching the hauls and kits of stitchers at the other end of the spectrum.
I always love it when you put out a video; long or short. I'm glad you said it. Your hobbie is your hobbie. Everyone has their own technique. We all have learned it in different ways. A lot of it is trial and error. We need to do what works for us. What works for one person doesn't work for another. You stated it perfectly. Enought said.😊
HIya, if it is down under blue you need I have just found it in stock in lakeside needles webpage. I'm not sure if you will see this straightaway but at the moment it says it is in stock.
well said Emily we all have a place and as it's our hobby . i too am on low income and have to kit up projects by buying the floss a few at a time, the important thing is to enjoy your hobby and don't let anyone dictate to you,
I don’t use pattern keeper, all my charts are paper. I wish I had the floss you need, but unfortunately I don’t have that one fingers crossed that someone has it 😊
I'm glad your phone was fine! I'm working on Fantastic Voyage (large) and after I reached around 20% pattern keeper wasn't able to create the pdf to export so I'm only able to export the progress.
Hi Emily, loved your video today..glad you got your phone sorted! I was also born in Malta in 1976 because my dad was in the RAF & stationed there…my birth place shows as RAF Mtarfa and I’m British too as I was born on the camp. We transferred to italy when I was 3 and came back to the UK when I was 6!
I love your videos, your a wonderful person to share all the things with us!!!! Thanks for the inspiration to do what we love with what we have and feel comfortable to do what makes up happy no matter how we do it. ❤❤❤
Sometimes you just need a chatty video! You’re one of my favorite flosstubers, honestly even when I’m not cross stitching, which I haven’t been lately, I always watch your videos every week!
What a relief that you got your mobile back. 😌I held my breath for a few days there, I know what a hassle it is when everything disappears. Happy stitching! 🪡
I luv, "there are no rules!" and I agree! Enjoy your hobby - do it for you!! WooHoo! 🥳 I'm so glad you reminded us about the Pattern Keeper backup... I started to do it after your last video but got distracted. Tonight, I finished the job! Thank you, again!! 💞🙏
I'm so happy you got your phone working again. And don't apologize for the rambling, it was very enjoyable to listen to. I do make sure I kit up all my projects fully when I start them, because I hate running out of thread in the middle of a project and I'm a little scared of dye lot issues for big blocks of color. But I actually chose to stitch on 28 count when I started stitching full coverage because of the cost of materials. I had only stitched on Aida before that but it was too expensive to kit up. So I took a chance, luckily I loved it and 28 count was my favorite for almost 10 years.
So pleased you got your phone up and working. I was stressed for you! Thanks for a chatty video. Would love to see more stitch with me type videos should you be able💕
I’m glad I’m not the only one who has picked up on this ‘ you must’ nonsense. Especially around stamped, I called someone out recently who couldn’t comment positively on a beautiful finish because it was stolen artwork, I told them if they were so concerned to contact the companies selling these kits not the unsuspecting stitcher, it wasn’t a piece I’d ever seen before and the stitcher wasn’t aware. It’s shocking, mind your own business! Rant over. Glad your phone dilemma is over, as always, I enjoyed your rambling video…keep them coming 🤭
I love love love your videos. Your happiness and contentment really shines through.. I meant to comment on last week's vid but I forgot about it lol. I lost everything last year. My tablet died and took with it all my 40+ patterns . I was so upset.. but I bout a new tablet and now I back up as much as I can. Not doing that again lol. I didn't know about exporting the pdf so I'm gona try that the next time I back up ❤
I went to back up my PK after watching your last upload and my fire tablet would not switch on ! 😮 eventually I managed to get it to hold a charge long enough to painfully transfer files, over several days and a new tablet has been purchased. Thanks for helping me feel less alone in the lesson learned club.
My dream would be to stitch the Tudor mandala by chatelaine. I have the pattern but sourcing all the specialist threads, beads and treasures is just way beyond my finances. I thought of doing a cheaper, adapted version but it is going to take more brain power than I possess. Maybe one day. Thankfully I have plenty of things to keep me going, including some cheap stamped kits! Have a great week x
I stitched a moose once that had 4 shades of purple in it. Couldnt believe it! Doubted it, but stayed the course and he was magnificent. The purple was not predominate and made his fur beautiful! Yours will work out!
I watched your last video and exported all my progress for markup rep - thank you for the reminder! Unfortunately I have had the pleasure of lost progress before lol
Thank goodness you got your patterns back Emily. I still can't back up to my SD chip but I did manage to send my progress to Google Drive. What fabric did you use for Happily Ever After? Beautiful. Great video especially the bit about making cross stitch your own. Bravo. I agree 100%. I actually did buy a pattern from Joy Sunday but I also checked with the artist first and he did indeed grant them a license to produce the chart that I have. Anyway, love your videos. Keep up the good work.
100% agree with your take on inclusive stitching. I encourage educated shopping, but I don't shame folks for enjoying their Disney or other illegal charts. I started with borrowed skeins from Mom's stash 40 years ago, and still use many of them now.
I am so super glad you're able to revive your old phone. what a relief that must have been! What is the name of your Etsy shop? The flossdrops are beautiful! I'm with you. I totally stay out of those types of conversations.
Don't be sorry for rambling, I love listening to it all and I totally agree that cross stitch has no rules, it's a hobby to enjoy however you tackle it, love your crochet blanket, I've never mastered that sadly x
It’s so interesting to learn how you all distinguish your nationality there in England. I didn’t realize there was a difference between English and British. I understand Welsh and Scottish because they are technically separate countries if you will. Here in the states we say things like Wisconsinite or Michigander based on what state we live in. But I was born in California but I wouldn’t call myself a Californian because I was born there. I’m American first but Wisconsinite second because that’s where I currently live. I’ve also been a Virginian, and a South Carolinian. I’m rambling now too. But thought you might find that interesting too.
Now now don’t want to see you tying knots 🤣🤣I don’t believe in rules for our hobbies either, they are supposed to be enjoyable! I’ve been stitching 4 years now and still haven’t got a full master set but I’ll get there,so glad you got in to your pattern keeper 😃🥳that blanket is gorgeous 😍x
Totally understand what you mean. I don't like the look of a full cross. It just looks like a bunch of X's all over the cloth. I dont see the pictures full glory. I love tent stitch even on 14 count. I use 4 over 1, and it is thick and beautiful. It feels like a tapestry. Some say doing tent stitch is not really cross stitching. I say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Tent stitch to me makes it look like a tapestry 😊. I'm so glad you got your phone to work and all your patterns back. Love the long video TFS.
Love when you go on a ramble 😂and all your hand gestures 😂😂😂. Look at my knots haha , you really cheered me up . I agree use what you want cos I can’t afford the expensive things either
After re-reading my last comment I thought my wording sounded rude so I deleted it (sorry!). I was just saying that I would love to hear even more of your 'rambly' discussions on a Stitch With Me or something similar. Lindsay the Frugal Crafter here on youtube has a podcast and something you were saying reminded me of one of her episodes. She was talking about saving supplies for 'best' and not getting around to using them. Since you do many crafts, a stitch with me talking about anything crafty would be amazing to listen to.
Love your projects 🤩 My advice to stitch on black aida is to turn off your stitchy lamp and put a white blanket on your knees, underneath the project... It's magic 😊

So glad all is well! Can’t wait to see your beautiful needle minders, happy spring!
Hi Emily, so pleased that the problem with your phone has been resolved for you.
Always love your videos, I'm also a knitter, but I would really like to learn to crochet.
Happy stitching and crocheting 😊❤
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 There Is No Stitching Police!
That's a great idea for a crochet blanket!

Glad it all worked out ok with pattern keeper. I had never backed up mine but I am doing it after every session now. Thank you.
Oh Emily, you look so well and happy 💜 loved seeing your progress as always. xx
Yay for recovered patterns and progress 🎉
I am sooooo glad you were able to recover the info from your old phone!!!! 💙💙love that you did get out some crochet! 🌴🌺🌊
Lakeside needlecrafts says on their site that they have dinky dyes down under blues in stock! As does 123 stitch.

Thanks so much Emily. I love how ‘real’ you are and agree 100%. So pleased your pattern keeper problem was resolved. Happy stitching.
Good to see you again! All the best with Pattern Keeper. I didn't save and deleted my progress by accident. My bad.

I loved the the light blub thing thats what goes on in our house lol agree totalling with what you are saying about what we can afford at first when i was putting up my stitching on heaven and earth i was worried because its only 14 ct aida and large but thats what i love to stitch on and i was proud of my picture.
You have so beautiful projects.
So glad you got your phone fixed, must have been such a relief. I agree about there is room in the cross stitch community for all budgets of stitchers, I am also at the lower end but love watching the hauls and kits of stitchers at the other end of the spectrum.
So good to hear you are in a good head space. cheers!
You're one of my favourites, so a nice long ramble is lovely after a crap day at work 😂😂
Looking forward to next time
Hello Emily thank you for sharing the crochet and your projects. It's great spending time watching your floss tub happy stitching.😊
So glad your phone is okay! ❤
well said Emily we all have a place and as it's our hobby . i too am on low income and have to kit up projects by buying the floss a few at a time, the important thing is to enjoy your hobby and don't let anyone dictate to you,
I'm really glad to see you chatting in such a good mood
That's where I was born too!
It's a small world 💖
Your hand pantomiming/conversation cracked me up! Thanks for that.
Thanks for a lovely chatty video❤❤❤❤ and your so right, there are no rule, our hobby has to fun and a happy place❤❤❤
What a relief that you got your mobile back. 😌I held my breath for a few days there, I know what a hassle it is when everything disappears. Happy stitching! 🪡
I luv, "there are no rules!" and I agree! Enjoy your hobby - do it for you!! WooHoo! 🥳
I'm so glad you reminded us about the Pattern Keeper backup... I started to do it after your last video but got distracted. Tonight, I finished the job! Thank you, again!! 💞🙏
I also have sent you a message on IG. Glad your phone was able to get its life back!
So glad you were able to fix your phone. I agree we must have bright light! I love the long rambling videos. Could listen all day.
Woo hoo! I was so hoping you would be a better to get your phone working again!!
I love your chatty videos, I wonder if you have thought about doing a video on dying fabric in multiple colours.
I didn't know about exporting the pdf so I'm gona try that the next time I back up ❤
So pleased you got your phone sorted, we will be reminding you to back up going forward 😃
I always listen. You are my fav girl!
Fabulous flosstube ❤
Lovely update. Thanks for sharing and Happy Stitching!
Great video! You are Awesome! Ramble away! Happy Stitching. 😊
Just watching your video now . 123 stitch has down under blue now .
Emily, keep being you, great video!😊😊🤣🤣🥰🥰
It’s so interesting to learn how you all distinguish your nationality there in England. I didn’t realize there was a difference between English and British. I understand Welsh and Scottish because they are technically separate countries if you will. Here in the states we say things like Wisconsinite or Michigander based on what state we live in. But I was born in California but I wouldn’t call myself a Californian because I was born there. I’m American first but Wisconsinite second because that’s where I currently live. I’ve also been a Virginian, and a South Carolinian. I’m rambling now too. But thought you might find that interesting too.
So glad you got all your patterns back!
glad you were able to save your phone 🎉🎉
When you are new to cross stitch, you start with something cheap, also cause you don't know if you like doing it.
No need for anyone to get their knickers in a knot about how someone else does their craft! 😂❤
