Nothing cheesy about real life traumas of living with an alcoholic... this is about her relationship with Shaun Morgan - the frontman of Seether (remember their awesome duet Broken? ) . Actually, Amy usually writes more poetic lyrics - this is nothing like that. And since she's not the type to go around and talk about others, she said it all in this song. I actually think it's not even that rough. But I'm really curious why do you find it cheesy? Is it relatability issue? Any who... rock on Jimmy
Didn’t know it was specifically her own breakup... lyrics were less poignant and specific than usual so it seemed off... its noble she didn’t purposely out someone... kicks it up a notch in my book... I’ll have to relisten with that in mind

Jimmy, I love Evanescence...but I tend to agree with your assessment of this song. It's still good but not my style either. This was released as a single for The Open Door album...perhaps to get a little radio play.

Love your reactions but Evanescence are a pretty mediocre band. Personally I don’t rate Amy Lee as a singer at all. She has a flimsy, nasal tone with little power. Even the style of their music is poorly defined pop / rock. Not for me, I’m afraid.
